NE also signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins. I don't think Rudy adds anything he and Watson can't already provide. And not at 8M/yr.

ASJ is terrible and Watson is a dinosaur.

Brady makes everyone young and productive (ASJ has never played with a QB like Brady or anyone close to Brady).

The Pats had numerous opportunities to draft a TE. Many pundits were surprised when they didn't. Probably because Billichick doesn't think its as big of a need for his team as everyone else. Including Rudy's agent.

Pager no big deal. The Patriots are one team. I doubt ASJ ever sees the field for any meaningful snaps if he's even on the team. I've always been a fan of Watson, but he's 38. I mean 38. They passed on Irv Smith with their first round pick to take a WR. Once smith was gone they had nobody left worth drafting.

I listened to Rosen on the radio, this morning. He said that the d-line coach, Patterson, is saying that Holmes is going to make a big step forward this season and make an impact. It seems that he has had a lot of success working with later draft choices. Patterson was also saying that our DT taken in this year's draft is comparable to where Holmes was a year ago. I have often thought that defensive tackles improve with age when they are more like a man rather than a kid coming out of college.

Cut him on the last day before the season starts.

V-e-r-y tacky. Wait till Christmas Eve.

Then he shouldn't be playing hard-ass with respect to re-negotiation. We'll continue to try to work a trade up until then in good faith, but if nothing works, bottom line we don't want to eat his cap.

I will go on record that I will be SHOCKED if we cut Rudy. I will be mildly surprised if we trade him. He doesn't owe us a thing regarding re-negotiation. If anything the Vikings owe him.

Agreed. Grif swallowed his pride and took one for the team.

Rudy can too. Or ......himself

Not interested in seeing Rudy swallow himself but to each their own.

Griff's performance fell off a cliff and he may still be mentally unstable. I wouldn't compare the two.

There was some implied rumors as to why Griff went off the deep end...rumors where flying that it involved a teammate and Griff's significant other having an affair. So there was a reason for him going crazy. Hopefully it is all resolved.

NE with 6M in cap space. No way they sign or trade and pay 8M.

Market a lot smaller than some (his agent) thinks.

The interesting thing. Vikings have probably half a dozen re-structures they could do to free up the cap. Instead have chosen Rudy as their primary means of cap management. I think that means something.

I think it means that there is better than a 50% chance that Rudy gets traded. They obviously want him to take a bigger cut than what they need to Bradbury. If that was all they were asking, a deal would be done by now. They are either asking for too big a cut in Rudy's eyes or Rudy is asking for too much in guaranteed money in their eyes.

I've said all along the only way I see Rudy in NE is if we cut him and they sign him cheap.

Agreed. I don't see Belichick giving up an asset for Rudy.

Essentially unanimous.

They could convert $6M of Hunter's salary to bonus. Giving us 6M this year, and only raising the cap hit something like 1.5M each year of his contract. No need to negotiate. Be enough to sign Bradbury and have 4M regular season wiggle room. The fact that they haven't says a lot.

I'd say it's 20% he returns on same contract. 30% he returns on restructured deal. 20% he gets traded and 30% he gets cut.

Really good news.

He was the talk of camp last year. Needs technique work, but an exceptional athlete that could be perfect for our schemes.

He's my dark horse. I think he could challenge for LG. Or be the swing tackle and save 2M on Hill. Next yr line: ONeil, Elf/Rookie, Bradbury, Samia, Collins.

Implied rumor? WTF is an implied rumor?

Jack Nicholson would say "Is there any other kind?" with a dismissive superior look on his face.

It was a rumor that I didn't sniff, and don't remember reading about in here. So it PROBABLY didn't happen.

Things may also depend on how Smith looks through OTCs, TC, and the preseason, we may not be comfortable with our TE unit (sans Rudy) until just before the season.

Vikings sign first-round pick Garrett Bradbury

The Vikings have signed Garrett Bradbury, an offensive lineman taken with the No. 18 pick in last month’s NFL draft, the team announced Tuesday.

Bradbury gets a four-year, $12.88 million contract with a $7.39 million signing bonus. Bradbury has a salary-cap number of $2.34 million for 2019.

The Vikings needed to create salary cap room to sign Bradbury, who played at North Carolina State. It wasn’t immediately clear what they did to come up with enough money for Bradbury.

The Vikings entered Tuesday with $664,266 of salary-cap room, according to the NFL Players Association. With Garrett Bradbury displacing a player in the top 51 of their salaries, they had needed to come up with about $1.1 million to have enough room to sign him.

Bradbury could start at center as a rookie. If not, he could start at left guard with Pat Elflein remaining at center.
