You mean #88 in YAC per reception? Even if you are talking strictly TE, there are 32 starting TE in the NFL.

I pulled the TEs out of the top 75 pass catchers in total YAC and figured out the average YAC per reception. In order they are as follows:

Josh Hill: 10.63
George Kittle: 9.89
Jonnu Smith: 9.00
Evan Engram: 8.62
Vance McDonald: 7.74
Vernon Davis: 7.00
Geoff Swaim: 6.31
Ryan Griffin: 6.25
Jesse James: 6.17
OJ Howard: 6.15
Travis Kelce: 5.52
David Njoku: 5.46
Jared Cook: 5.04
Dallas Goedert: 4.88
Jimmy Graham: 4.75
CJ Ozumah: 4.70
Chris Herndon IV: 4.54
Ian Thomas: 4.39
Jordan Reed: 4.28
Gronk: 3.87
Rudy!: 3.83

I think we can safely move forward with 'Rudy doesn't get a lot of YAC'.

Your negativity regarding Rudy is mind blowing. He has done nothing, but good for the Vikings ever since being here.

I don't dislike him personally - never met him except for one quick 'hi' at the hotel. Loved him early on. Going forward I think he's a poor choice given his diminishing talents and skills and his high amount of cap space. What's so negative or (responding to other posters) emotional about that?

I want to win a Super Bowl. Now on that point I indeed can be emotional. I wouldn't be a fan otherwise.

In my opinion it's some of you who are emotional and dare I say defensive about facing the facts about a hero in his decline.

How would we ever find out what we have waiting for tight ends if Rudy continues to get 95% of the targets? Who have we passed over in the draft while drafting the Willie Beavers and TJ Clemmings of the world?

95% of what targets? He hardly gets any targets (compared to 150 each to Thielen/Diggs)....which is why I think it would be fine to let him go.

Cmon, you use A Smith as an example when they had a number 1 draft pick in the wings. Not the same situation we have here.

You can blame Rick for not drafting higher and/or sooner. I have no problem with that. I advocated for Ian Thomas and Herndon last draft.

Moving on is great if the coaches think we have the options, like Allen and Griff, or Harris and Sendejo. That may or may not be the case. TEs are notoriously slow contributors out of college.

Regardless, I think you see Kyle's snaps drop significantly if he stays and he's gone next year.

I don't think any team covets Rudolph as much as the Vikings. If we cut him, he will come back here for less. Of course he won't be happy.

Yes I meant TEs. How many starters is irrelevant to this question. Backup TEs can have great YAC just as much as Starters. I would estimate 100 TEs in the league. About 3 per team with 4 on a few.

I haven't seen the restructure, but I'm guessing Kendricks didn't give up anything in the restructure and is getting more of his money up front. I seriously doubt he gave up anything and nothing classy happened.

I agree, on the first part. Second part, has this ever happened? A team cuts a player instead of pay cut/restructure and then they resign with the same team? I can't remember a time when it happened, idk.

Rudy's placement is exactly what I already reported. There are about 100 TEs in the NFL. Even if you only count starting TEs he is probably about middle of the pack. I think some of those TEs you listed aren't starters. Rudy was better than Ebron, Burton and Ertz and Barely behind Gronk. You all acting like Rudy's YAC is this huge negative are simply proven wrong by the facts.

Rudy's never been a particular hero of mine. I just think he is ridiculously underappreciated by our board. Somebody decided he sucks and didn't want to consider the facts. Rudy is what he's always been. A top ten TE in the NFL. He will increase our chances of winning a Super Bowl.

You said receivers not tight ends. I can add more TEs to that list and I doubt If Rudolph moves up at all.

Do you remember your past arguments? Ever?

Your arguments (until this post): There are trade offers for him (or was that a bunch of lies) and he wouldn't get cut (why cut him when you can get something in return?). If he did get cut he would make as much or more. Hyberbole for "huge" in my post, but either of the above would need enough market demand to make that happen. I don't see it.

I'm not sure the Vikings are done with the cap. We are significantly over next year, and any cap space this year rolls over. I don't think this is the last of this topic.

I read that Rudolph was the #21 receiver in YAC per reception last year. There are approximately 100 TEs in the NFL. Reports of him not getting YAC seem to be exaggerated.

You mean #88 in YAC per reception? Even if you are talking strictly TE, there are 32 starting TE in the NFL.

I pulled the TEs out of the top 75 pass catchers in total YAC and figured out the average YAC per reception. In order they are as follows:

Josh Hill: 10.63
George Kittle: 9.89
Jonnu Smith: 9.00
Evan Engram: 8.62
Vance McDonald: 7.74
Vernon Davis: 7.00
Geoff Swaim: 6.31
Ryan Griffin: 6.25
Jesse James: 6.17

David Njoku: 5.46
Jared Cook: 5.04
Dallas Goedert: 4.88

I think we can safely move forward with 'Rudy doesn't get a lot of YAC'.

Rudy's placement is exactly what I already reported. There are about 100 TEs in the NFL. Even if you only count starting TEs he is probably about middle of the pack. I think some of those TEs you listed aren't starters. Rudy was better than Ebron, Burton and Ertz and Barely behind Gronk. You all acting like Rudy's YAC is this huge negative are simply proven wrong by the facts.

You said receivers not tight ends. I can add more TEs to that list and I doubt If Rudolph moves up at all.

I obviously meant TEs. Add away, but it's funny how you have Rudy at 21 which is exactly what I reported already. So what disagreement is there? It seems Rudy is in the top 20% of TEs in YAC.

I agree, on the first part. Second part, has this ever happened? A team cuts a player instead of pay cut/restructure and then they resign with the same team? I can't remember a time when it happened, idk.

Nobody said there was a huge market for Rudy. There is a market for Rudy and no way in Hell would the Vikings cut him. Not unless some disaster struck where we urgently needed his cap space and there was no other way to get it.

Your arguments (until this post): There are trade offers for him (or was that a bunch of lies) and he wouldn't get cut (why cut him when you can get something in return?). If he did get cut he would make as much or more. Hyberbole for "huge" in my post, but either of the above would need enough market demand to make that happen. I don't see it.

I totally remembered the arguments previously. Did I ever claim there was a huge market? I never even said anything about Market. I did say there was trade offers because that was my interpretation of the reports. So I said Market yes. Huge Market never said any such thing. As you said Huge was hyperbole from you and no such claim from me.

We’re going to run into sample size problems but I’ll add the next 25 TEs from the total YAC list. It was already in the 160 range at the bottom of this list. I think you don’t fully understand that a player that only catches ten balls can have a high average YAC per catch. Anyone in the 3.x range is going to be near the bottom - couldn’t be more opposite of ‘top 20%’.
