I was wondering if Elflein makes the team. I know that's a crazy thought, but I was wondering what surprises are coming. Maybe it would be a surprise if just Elflein isn't a starter.

So maybe that's too much, but anyone else want to speculate on a surprise. I mean, if some of these rookies make the roster an established player may have to be cut.

Oline starters

Reiff
Kline
Bradbury
Samia
O"Neal

Samia … Day one or eventually?

He comes across to me as a guy that is going to be hard to keep on the bench.

We'll know a lot more come TC mainly seeing what side they put Kline on. I just can't see him not starting with the cabbage their paying him.

Do we usually carry 10 o-linemen on the 53 man roster? We drafted three offensive linemen- the third one being Udoh. There is some speculation with him that he will be put on the practice squad, but what if he shows promise after losing a few pounds, working out full time and benefiting from NFL coaching. He comes from a small school, but he reportedly did well when getting coached up at the Shrine All Star game. He's got the size you can't teach. My question is what if he shows promise. That's a good problem for the team. I mean, there's no way he becomes a starter this season, but can the team take the chance and expose a player like to other teams? Let's say he makes the roster and we keep Elflein as a backup. Then the team would presumably keep only three others. Some notable players would have to be cut.

That would be something. I see some idiots on other Vikings sites declaring him for the PS.

Barring some incredible development from Udoh I see him as a PS player that nobody would poach because I don't see him being ready to play at all this year.

Some of the other offensive linemen on the roster are Isadora, Hill, Storm Norton, Jones, Collins and Dakota Dozier, who I know nothing about, but he has 5 years of NFL experience.

Speaking of the offensive line, a big reason for optimism is not having to go to war with a center who is not totally recovered from surgery. Was it two surgeries?

Patrick Peterson suspended for six games. Arizona probably would be interested in one of our corners

Cap space is more valuable than low draft picks, I think, in our situation. But tricky ricky loves those 7th rounders.

The last part is exactly what I expect the Vikes to do:

Here’s what the Vikings also could do: Wait. In time, they’ll see whether Smith can get it done. They’ll see whether Rudolph can still perform at a high level. And, ultimately, they’d be able to squeeze Rudolph with a proposed pay cut at a time when rosters elsewhere are set, offering him less than $7.275 million but more than anyone else would pay him at that point.

Also, potentially, allow the trade market to develop.

I suppose if Rudolph comes to camp in great shape and performs at a high level the team could decide to keep him. Also, it would be insurance in case Smith gets injured.

That was ridiculous speculation. The answer is a resounding no. We don't want to buy a low draft pick for $2Million.

The Vikings will decide to keep him barring catastrophe. They tried to sucker him into accepting a pay cut in a restructure and Rudy did what he should and politely told them to stick it up their a$$.

As posted, Peterson suspended for 6 games. Wanted Cards to restructure his deal to lessen the impact.

Have read some Rhodes for peterson trade proposals. How about a Peterson for Waynes deal? Make em take Treadwell to balance cap just about perfectly this year.

Be tough w/o him first 6 games and cap would be very difficult next two years. But could you imagine the secondary after game 6????

Of course we have already a corner who is suspended in the beginning of the season. We would be able to keep two extra players on the roster in September, though.

I’d find it hard to believe Elflein has Fallin that far, but who knows.

If Reiff has a poor TC I could definitely see-

O’Neill-ELF-Bradbury-Kline-Samia

Or Kline as bad as he showed last year-

Reiff-ELF-Bradbury-Samia-O’Neill.

There's a lot of talk about trading or cutting Rudolph and moving David Morgan into his spot. I knew that Morgan didn't catch many passes, but looking it up I was floored. 5 receptions for 36 yards on the season. That's one catch per 3 games for an average of 7.2 yards. Yep the Bears and Packers are going to be shaking in their boots over the receiving threat that David Morgan is. He did that in 11 games. Were the 5 games missed due to injury or we just decided not to play him. If injury related he missed 4 games his rookie year so is he injury prone? Yeah the perfect replacement for Rudolph.

Morgan is in to block and he's good at that. How many plays is he even in the game?

According to this article, the Vikings rushed nearly twice as much when Morgan played in the game. Football is still a team game and you can't just go by individual stats. Also, I do believe the team wants to be more committed to the running game this year to support Cousins better.

I love the source on PFT that said talks aren't dead but aren't really going anywhere AND that the Vikings were looking to sign Rudolph for 5 years as one of the top paid TE's. Yeah...they didn't get anywhere with that offer lol!
