Benwikere (6-0, 195) started eight games with the Arizona Cardinals and appeared in four games for the Oakland Raiders in 2018. In five NFL seasons he has 22 starts with three career interceptions. He had a Pro Football Focus grade of 61.4 last season, which combines his performances from both the Cardinals and Raiders.

I figured he was a grizzled vet being he has already been on 5 teams before coming here but he is 27 years young

Guess Mo Clairborne is facing a drug suspension so that removed him from consideration.

I will try to post more comments with the link. Soon we will have games that we watch with our own eyes rather than relying on the observations and opinions of just a few.

Best wishes to everyone here.

I was hoping we'd sign Mo too. But we're thin early in the season so it is imperative he be able to play right away.

Not real high on the Bene signing but at least he is a warm body that currently isn't under suspension.

A lot has changed over the years but the baseball guys have always had a really good camaraderie. And way less of the type of flame wars that has decimated the football talk side of things. This really should be Talk Twins at this time with the football side being the alt threads.

Which is amazing considering CPACrab has about half the posts in there

When you think about it, if we sign a corner to be a backup, it's preferred that he excel on special teams. We know that not all corners are able and willing tackles.

Dollars may have been an issue too.

Agree that winning will bring the posters back.

I think many checked out due to not necessarily losing but the negative nellies that come out of the wood work kicking us when were down.

Here's another point. We are really skinny at backup nickel.

With Hill's suspension and Hughes' recovery, it always felt like the #Vikings would add CB depth. Bene' was a former fifth-round pick in 2014 and flashed as a rookie. He has experience at nickel, suffered a fractured leg in '15 and was cut after Julio's 300-yard game in '16.

Sounds like Sloter is really stinking it up in camp and currently is the odd man out.

He best light it up during PS games to over take the 2 very pedestrian qb's in front of him.

I thought this was interesting about TE's blocking and exploiting nickel defenses.

appears he can jump high but rather bottom of the barrel on most other metrics.

shuttle and his 40 time aren't good.

Zimmer on play action: “Deion [Sanders] got beat one time, we were playing Peyton Manning and he got beat on a play-action pass looking in the backfield and I said ‘what are you doing looking in the backfield you don’t hit anybody anyway,'” Zimmer said. "

I gotta believe no news is good news on Collins?

If it was a torn MCL/ACL they would have probably announced, put him on the IR and signed someone. Here's hoping. Big fan of Collins. Versatile, hoping he was our swing tackle and then groomed for RT. Very athletic.

I didn't want to say, but yes. Wasn't he fifth round draft choice, though? He does seem to be a better run defender than pass defender. I don't know. The Vikings can cut him if he isn't good enough, but maybe with Zimmer coaching him up he can be solid.

I can't wait to see Mattison run the ball in a real game. Here's a short video.

TD pass that was twice tipped. You can't get any more spectacular than that.

Some of you like Dillon Mtichell. Here he is catching a long pass on the brand new Viking who bites on a double move.

https://www.dailynorseman.com/2019/8/4/20753484/minnesota-vikings-training-camp-august-3-day-8-night-practice-scrimmage-recap

https://www.vikings.com/news/7-observations-vikings-hold-spirited-night-practice-in-front-of-capacity-crowd

It feels like an embarrassment of riches at the DE spot. Odenigbo sounds like he is having a great camp. As a second year player would he be eligible for Mr. Mankato? I think so. If I'm not mistaken, he was released last year and had cups of coffee with other teams before coming back here. It would be an interesting story if he turns out to be a star for the Purple.

Karter Schult is another one that had a cups of coffee with Green Bay, Carolina, Cleveland and the Salt Lake Stallions, but he was also at our rookie minicamp a year ago. I saw one report where someone said "I didn't think he had much of a chance to make the team, but I am starting to notice him now". I forget who said it. All of these defensive ends can't make the team and perhaps one might squeeze in somehow via practice squad or by virtue of an injury.

I don't know why I focus so much at the bottom of the roster. Those are the players I relate to, I guess. They are struggling where many say that they can't do it. There are numerous examples of players that struggled from that starting point, but turned out to be outstanding players and I just find myself wondering if any of these players can do that. Perhaps not, but for now they are Vikings and I root for them all. I do look forward to the final cutdown day to see if any of them make the roster. Of course the Vikings have a particularly deep roster this year. That means good players will be cut and some of them may wind up playing for teams with other colors.
