I tuned back in to the game in time to see Staal's goal....nice to see us playing with a lead. Just hope they don't keep shooting those longs ones at Duby, you just know one of them will sneak by him.

I think I've mentioned it but this is the first year since it's existence that I don't have the NHL package. I was that 'blah' about the team this year. Read every article, follow box scores ect….but I say that because you guys see way more games than I do these days.

That being said (and this could be he's having an off night and looking good) but Brodin doesn't piss me off. He can actually move the puck well out of the zone.

You can’t make this up. Koivu plays the first. We suck. Doesn’t play the second. We dominate.

But he takes a lot of shots man. Haven't we learned over the years that it's a big key to success?

And I love when Albert makes Pierre (our GM, BTW ) like a fool.

Not sure if you guys have local coverage, I would assume so. Brodin backhands a pass on a 2 on 1 to Stahl and it's a pretty easy save given the circumstances. They show the replay because it was a really good scoring chance:

Pierre = wow, it looked so much faster real time on the ice

Albert = yeah…………so who do you…..tails off in to another direction

Yeah, no shit Pierre.

Brodin has been looking really good lately. His skating and footwork is so damn good he can create room for himself and find an outlet. And, he isn't just throwing the puck up the boards as often and is skating it out on his own more.

I thought he was "supposed" to be on the fourth line, per the radio pre-game?

But he doesn't miss a motorist stranded alongside the road in frigid temps. Good guy. And that's what the media focuses on.

Reid on the pregame "Koivu at 80% is a pretty good hockey player. I'll take that tonight.

Sorry, but I'd rather have Donato centering the 4th line.

Reid said Donato wasn't consistent enough with his shot and getting shots on goal, and not strong or tough enough on the boards...

I want to add to the comments about Dubnyk's duck on that first goal. It was atrocious! The man is covered in protective gear, including a really sturdy facemask and helmet - and his instinct is to duck out of the way of an incoming puck? What's up with that? Does he know he's playing the goalie position?

I hated when the crowd returned to the "Doooobs" chant when he made some saves later because he really hasn't earned that in quite a long time. I will say that it feels like it was a smaller part of the crowd that was chanting, but then 1/4 of the crowd was wearing Detroit jerseys.

I thought he was "supposed" to be on the fourth line, per the radio pre-game?

he was used sparingly
It was obvious... when we succeeded, he was NOT involved
When we struggled, he was

I know I get too focused on certain guys, but I'm trying to be objective, and if you can't correlate our good times and our bad times with WHO is playing …. then you are
1. lying
2. ignorant
3. protecting something

I had no idea BB was such a protector of the
"good guy" "vet" "lifetime achievement award" guys.
Its just plain dumb right now.

Oh ...and Dumbas two assists last night …… had NOTHING to do with good hockey or good decisions.
His assist on Greenways goal almost de-boweled Greenway first, it wasn't a clever pass, it was a dumb shot that sailed (like all his do) ...and was only corralled by Greenway BECAUSE it hit him. The other also had nothing to do with making a "good hockey play"
If I'm Brad Hunt and I have to sit, while this guy continues to flail …. I'm not a happy camper.

One of my neighbors works in marketing and sales for the Wild. He says Mikko is DONE. His knees are completely shot. He has something like six different braces for each knee and uses them based on how his knees are hurting on a given day.

That is my problem with him; he plays like he isn't wearing any gear and he is Mugsy Bogues in the land of giants.

Gee, sure doesn't look like it …..

Once again, give the guy a gold watch
You're sacrificing the teams success, by being nice, BB
ENOUGH. We owe him. Even I will admit that.
But you NEVER owe a guy more than you owe the TEAM.

I have seen Stalock, this year , throw his head, hell, his face ….. at pucks at least a dozen times
He had one game earlier where he had two that he cleverly deflected into the netting with his helmet. its what you do.
You are a goalie.

I would argue that he owes us (the Wild that is). He was never worth superstar money but he's been making it for 10 years now. Very GOOD player. Never great no matter what the home town homers said of him during a broadcast.

I will give Mikko credit; he is tough. No reason not to get scratched when the knees hurt that bad.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling of late and continue to work the phones trying to find upgrades to their defence and back up goaltender. With the latest reports of Matt Dumba being available from the Minnesota Wild, the two teams could be the match made in heaven the Leafs are looking for.

According to sources the teams have had dialogue around the defenceman, with the Maple Leafs offering the Wild defensive prospect, Timothy Liljegren, forward Andreas Johnsson and defenseman, Cody Ceci. GM, Bill Guerin is believed to be interested in moving Dumba to the east coast.

The Wild are expected to move Dumba to free up some cap space moving forward, as the team is strapped with players on huge contracts, with no-move clauses. Dumba does not have any trade protection.

Look for both teams to be active as we approach the trade deadline and Leafs Nation is pouring out it's hope for a Dumba acquisition, sooner than later.

Pleasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse
