From ESPN:

The Cleveland Browns -- the only team still looking for a head coach -- have more interviews lined up for this week and want to have a deal in place by Saturday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is scheduled to interview for the opening on Wednesday and will be followed by Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski on Thursday and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Friday.

The NFL didnt choose to place the Vikings on Sat, it has been slated since the final regular season game. The One seeds play on Saturday and Two Seeds play on Sunday for given confrences. (have no idea what sets that seeding, you would think ONE seeds get extra day and Sunday, maybe they favored the Packers once they saw they were the two seed )

Tickets for those games have been available to buy since the seeding was set end of Dec, with the Niners tickets advertised saying Niners Vs TBD so it wasnt something they did to the Vikings.

Now Im not sure why they put both NFC games on last weekend on same day, that did seem odd compared to past Wildcard rounds.

Still sucks the Vikings always seem to be the team kicked around and short sheeted in the play off group...

Dennison has been a great influence it seems. The unfortunate loss of Sparano caused a ripple effect last season but the line has been much better this season.

From what I've read, Broncos fans strongly disliked him as offensive coordinator, so perhaps he's serving in his best role, as O-line coach with Stefanski's ear.

#Vikings CB Mackensie Alexander will have arthroscopic surgery for the small tear in his lateral meniscus, source said. Won’t play Saturday against the #49ers, but season not necessarily over if Minnesota can advance. Another challenge for Mike Zimmer’s defense.

It's better for the #1 seed to have 8 days off going into the Conference championship game vs only having 13 days off going into the division round game against a team that only has had 6-7 days off after the wild card weekend.

Apparently, up until today, we still held Asher Allen's rights...

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings today officially waive these retired players from reserve lists: Terence Newman, Asher Allen, Christian Ballard (left squad), Lane Danielson, Chad Fann, Jason Glenn, Kenny Sandlin.

I count myself among the many who became Viking Fans during the Lane Danielson ERA.

In fact, I went so far as finding a girl named Danielson, changing my name to hers, and having 3 kids
until I had a Boy named Lane Danielson.

Kearse reportedly had a sleeve on his knee. Here's the whole injury report.

But there was also this from PFF:

Kwon Alexander brings the swagger back to the 49ers' defense. (Passer rating allowed of 67.4)

Holy shite!

That is a very 2017 PPG # for the defense.

He really did, Bruce. Thanks for posting this.

Kirk is not Joe Montana or Tom Brady, or a lot of other people, but he's a good enough QB to win with if you have a solid team around him. That throw to Theilen where Kirk gets drilled and drops a dime about thirty yards downfield is stupendous. Rags, and probably others, said at the time that Theilen redeemed a bad throw, but look at the link----amazing.

We can all use some good news.

A note from #Vikings locker room:

Shamar Stephen said he’ll be good to go Saturday against 49ers. Left Saints game with an injury.

Unheralded DT will be big against strong SF rushing attack.

Question: The Vikings have been successful defending tight ends this season. How did that happen and can it continue vs. Kittle?

I asked the question to Matthew Coller and he answered with this:

Happened because they have perfect personnel for it with Kendricks/Barr/Smith/Harris... Kittle is a different kind of monster though

I think we used more Kendricks and less Barr in coverage this year but have zero data to back this up.

Under the circumstances that was an incredible throw! To be able to "throw someone open" under all that pressure had me in awe to be honest. The last 2 throws in OT were perfect. Hopefully we get more of that against the Niners this week!

After Sunday's surprising (to me at least) effectiveness, maybe you stay in nickle with Sandejo and dedicate him to covering Kittle. Smith is not good in pure coverage and Harris is needed at the back end more (with Smith), and the LBs might not be fast enough (like most LBs vs Kittle). Dip into the magic dust again with Sandejo?

I'd like to see Holton Hill and Kearse get more playing time and I think they'd be useful to add to the mix in covering Kittle. They need to bracket him and take away Garappolo's security blanket as much as possible. Both Hill and Kearse have made big plays when given a chance. If Hill can stop using marijuana and other drugs, he could easily be our best CB next year or even right now, he's shown flashes that he's capable of that.
