The Vikings are the only team in the NFL with more rushing yards (581) than passing yards (494).

Hard to overstate how much better the Vikings’ run blocking has been so far this year. Big credit to Rick Dennison.

Cook is a much better complete back as well obviously. He fits in this era of the NFL.

Not only that he's so fun to watch! Peterson either killed it or had what seemed like 30 yards.

Dalvin will contribute in the passing game even if the running game isn't going great. Or at least I think he will.

let's show the rest of the league that a team can win it all by playing football the way real men did - decades ago....

Nice win!

I think...

I only saw the first three plays, and then I had a surprise visit from the PMS Fairy.

I could have used my own personal OL yesterday to protect me from that...

The best thing about the game for me was the play of Irv Smith, Jr. It wasn't just his pass catching, but also his blocking. He's a force to be reckoned with.

https://twitter.com/vikingsspin/status/1175869453378183168?s=19

Agreed, he looked very, very good. Steve Jordan like.

Next best thing was Cousins' solid play. It didn't surprise me, I've always been a Cousins backer, and a couple of boneheaded plays against the Packers weren't going to change that, unless they became a tremd. But Cousins looked sharp and did everything he needed to do.

On the radio this morning, Ben Leber said Eric Wilson is one of the Vikes best three linebackers, and as such should be a starter in three-linebacker sets. Has made a difference just about every time he's filled in.

My $0.02:

Nice team win.

Running game was in beast mode all day. Cook was a stud, and so was Matttison and Boone.

Irv Smith had a great game catching and blocking.

Great to see Hughes back out there! Imagine when we get Alexander and Hill back, too......

Wilson played great other than his whiff on the flea flicker.

Carlson missed his FG....

Bailey was solid, as was Colquitt.

Griffen is looking like a stud out there.

Kendricks is a machine.

Harry with the sweet INT!

Wondering if they were just letting OAK have that underneath stuff to 83...? They didn't get much else....

Waiting to see more from Diggs. Maybe they are managing his pitch count with his hammy since they don't need him now anyhow....

Not much to say. Just a solid, old school win. I loved it.

I thought for 8M it was a decent deal. I didn't expect him to play at his ProBowl level. I thought we'd also see lower snap counts for him, more weatherly and obi wan.

next season griffen's cap hit is $13.9m...from my prospective he's more valuable than rudolph or barr right now, but we paid those two big time for the next couple of seasons and that's really going to hurt our attempt to keep some of our solid younger players - harris, weatherly, alexander and maybe include kearse, wilson in there, too....

wilson looked good filling in for barr last night...
.

.

.

.

There's also an opt-out clause for PT and I think @ 6 sacks, pretty low and it looks inevitable that Griff becomes a FA.

I wanted Ruddy traded, thought his cap space was too valuable for what he produces. I was ok with letting him play his final year out. Barr, from what I read is a pretty team friendly deal, not a lot of dead money later. I don't see what Zimmer sees, that opposing teams have to game plan for Barr, but that's one of many areas I would defer on. So I was ok with the re-signing.

Tough decision ahead. I would have to think the following guys are gone or restructured:

Griffith.
Reif
Waynes

That's about 25M off the books if I remember right.

When do the following underperform vs contract?
Joseph
Rhodes
Hitman

I don't ever recall Barr recording 11 tackles in a game.

Not sure whom was responsible for covering Waller but he was open all afternoon.

I think both Barr and Rudolph were luxeries we couldn't afford.

Brzezinski has been brilliant, but he hasn't faced the opportunity costs that he is likely to face in the next couple of years.

People have have been saying that for the last couple of years, but he always finds a way. He does a beautiful job of staggering the guaranteed money, so that he always has wiggle room to meet the situation at hand.

Our 2020 cap is currently at 202,880

The cap has been increasing around 10ml per year lately so the 2020 cap would be at 198ml if this trend continues.

Bercich suggested that everyone check this video out. It's of Irv Smith Jr.'s dad vs Indiana about 28 years ago. (Sorry for the lousy quality of the video, but it is pretty awesome.)

It isn't that simple....I think Kearse, Weatherly, Wilson, and Alexander are more important with Griffen being questionable (with Hercules, Holmes, Weatherly, etc. now in the fold) and Rhodes, Rudolph, and a few others needing to take a pay cut.

Rudolph can't take a pay cut. His money is guaranteed. The time for him to take a pay cut was this season - but the team gave him a raise instead.
