if we're thinking/hoping Cleveland starts at lt then reiff is vulnerable for a cut...does he have the lower body strength?...has he been training for a move over the offseason?...everyone knows remmers moving was a complete failure...if udoh has been training for the left guard position over the last year+ he could be much stronger and better prepared than reiff....

it would be great for the team if we can move forward this season without reiff - saves about $8m - can we trade reiff for a solid starting guard?....

I think we are a year away from that....If we traded Harris for Williams I would have said yes.

I would be very surprised if Cleveland starts this year. Incredulous really, but anything is possible. O’Neil somehow punctured the ‘not strong enough for the pro game’ label but lightening striking twice? idk

It's tougher for the rookies, though, without the benefit of all the ota's and minicamps. I'm not even sure if there will still be 4 preseason games. Maybe. We'll probably find out today.

The emphasis on athleticism is a definite shift in their O-line drafting philosophy in the last few years. At least they are drafting players to fit their o-line scheme. At this point out of the higher picks, O'Neil is a success, Elfline is a failure and Bradbury and Cleveland are TBD. Out of the day 3 picks Udoh and Samia show a lot of promise, but are TBD none the less. Collins as a UDFA is in that same mold shows some promise, except for the constant injuries.

Yeah Elflein was one of the top C/G in that draft and we drafted him in the third round...one of the highest picks we used since Kalil...hopefully we keep drafting oline early....

What's with the Udoh to LT coming from?

That's one of the last places we'd put him.

I made a simple comment on what Udoh looks like based on his physical attributes and the board ran with it. I wasn't advocating for him to be the LT.

The way you worded it made it seem like you were advocating it.

Great. I'm back in 5th English class with Sister Mary.

Maybe you'll pass this time.

I hope so sister.

I'd wager the Sister hopes so.

He'd be a great signing, but I can't imagine we can afford him.

Only 28 years old, has been quite healthy and has been to the last 3 Pro Bowls.

I don't think he's particularly fast, but I believe the Saints are a mostly zone blocking team.

Interesting piece on the Athletic after the drafting of Ruiz:

"The New Orleans Saints’ first-round draft selection Thursday indirectly exposed one of the NFL’s great fallacies: the Pro Bowl. Over the years, the league’s annual all-star game has become more of a popularity contest than a true indicator of the game’s best talent.

The Saints’ interior offensive line is a prime example. Both starting guards Andrus Peat and Larry Warford earned invitations to that event last season when, truth be told, neither’s play on the field justified it. Anyone who watched the Minnesota Vikings strategically attack the Saints’ interior offensive line in their 26-20 upset in the NFC wild-card playoffs in January understands this.

Even before that game, the Saints knew they needed to address this area of the roster. Improving the interior offensive line became one of the Saints’ top offseason priorities, a “must” on the to-do list of the club’s brain trust. Sean Payton consistently listed it as one of the top areas of need every time he was asked about it this offseason.

So no one should have been surprised when the Saints selected Michigan center/guard Cesar Ruiz with the No. 24 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday night. He was the top-rated center in the draft and one of the highest-graded players on the Saints’ board."

Peat was terrible yet NO not only retained but extended him.

Warford must be a bum....

Definitely agree with the premise of the article. Any shred of credibility went out the window when Rhodes was selected last year.

Andrus Peat and Saints agree to 5-year, $57.5 million contract. The New Orleans Saints are shoring up one of their offensive line needs, as they're bringing back the versatile Andrus Peat on a five-year deal. The contract is worth $57.5 million total, with $33 million guaranteed.Mar 20, 2020

Warford's deal was 8.5ml avg through 2021

This, plus their blocking grades you posted, is very strange. Sure, the blocking grades are subjective, but that was a big difference. At this point, I would say I am pretty confused by all of it. If the Vikes sign him: great. If they don't: I am OK with that also.

Saints almost have to cut Easton.

Next year, with no cap increase they are already 18M over the cap.

Talk about going all in.

Weren't the Saints embarrassed by the Vikings in the playoffs by how we exposed Warford? I believe fixing the middle of their offensive line became their priority in the off-season.
