Unless we trade up for one of the Big 3 (Ruggs, Lamb, Jeudy), the only 1st round WRs for us are probably Jefferson or Reagor.

If we do have a trade with Willliams in our back pocket, do you still draft an offensive lineman in the first round? Perhaps for the center guard out of Michigan? Or would you double up on cornerbacks? (If Jefferson and Reagor are gone)

It would be nice to double up on OLine and be done with it once and for all. But if you have Williams(for a 2nd or 3rd) already in the fold, wait until 3rd or 4th round for an interior guy.

I would go CB/DL in this scenario (Top 5 WRs gone).

The article says Vikes fans won't be happy with no OL, but I see this as a 'realistic' draft with subbing out the edge rusher in the third with OL.

Re OL, as Beap Chastard once said... Sometimes ya just gotta coach 'em up!

But in this case draft at least one fairly early.

I'm surprised we haven't heard more on Brandon Aiyuk from ASU, what's the knock on him?

I assume because he is JUCO with only one year of real production?

IMO he is the kind of guy we need...it seems that Sharpe fills that possession role, Thielen the all around stud...we need speed and quickness...plus he is a dynamic returner

could he fall to our 2nd round pick or would we go early in the round?

If we can get CB and OL in the first, maybe move up in second to get Aiyuk and a DL in the 3rd...I'd feel pretty good about that draft

Same thing with the CBs, Hughes, Hill and Boyd have ability. They need to be coached to become consistent.

Probably.

Also, recent history shows Pac12 WRs are hit and miss when they get to the NFL.

I wonder how they plan on televising the draft?

If GMs are conducting from their homes you can't put TV camera crews in there being their promoting the social distancing.

I heard that they are allowing up to 9 in the facility for draft day...

I assume they'll have a cameraman for each team

Lots of Zoom and split screen stuff

I think they said they "invited" like 58 payers too

I think it will be must see TV

(of course I always think that)

I don't think there is any knock on Aiyuk. Nothing, but universal praise that I see on the internet. My best guess is he won't last until our 2nd round pick and probably too early to take him in the first. He just had core surgery so maybe that will scare off some teams and we can get a 2nd round bargain.

This one has a diagram, so I will just link the tweet. It's about a comparison with Mims and Treadwell.

https://twitter.com/JViking5/status/1248686809879543819?s=20

There is no comparison. Tee Higgins there is comparison.

Tee Higgins and Treadwell, you mean. I agree. Still, I thought it was interesting.

An even more interesting comparison might be Mims and Reagor. Those two guys are not the same by any means. Mims is taller and Reagor is probably faster. They are both fast. It's a good question over who to choose between the two of them.

quote:

https://twitter.com/i/status/1248796147591888897

Reagor from all reports does a much better job getting separation than Mims does. Mims has the advantage of being much taller and a bit bigger.

Aiyuk would be perfect, imo

I keep looking at types of players and fit over best all around...

Sharpe fills the need for what Treadwell should have done for us

Obviously Jeudy and Lamb would be amazing as all-around #1 WR types, but we won't see them close to our pick...

Ruggs is the dynamic type of guy that would be great fit, but he won't be around either

Reagor works for me in the first, or Aiyuk or even Hamler in rd 2...

I really hope we come away with CB, OL and WR in those first 3 picks...still feel like DL could still be a target for Zim, though

Mims seems much more straight line to me, nice outside guy

Reagor seems much more versatile

They both need route work...but reagor's shiftiness seems helpful for separation if route isn't great

Diggs seems like he is sliding out of the 1st rd for some reason.

I read the Vikings took him off their board but i imagine the guy was just speculating.

I've watched game video (not highlights) of Reagor. He's always open.

Lot of speculation that Fulton or Gladney will be our CB target. I think Terrell fits what Zimmer is looking for more. Taller and faster than the other 2. I think Spielman would defer to him.

There are plenty of good CBs so I don't see how the Vikings could possibly consider Trevon Diggs. He was actively pushing his brother away from the Vikings every step of the way. Bad Blood.

I think that's the key... who fits. Theilen and Irv Smith will be around a while. Without ignoring obvious top tier potential/talent, who would work best with them in a general sense? I say general sense because the better question is within our scheme but that changes more often than a baby's diaper.

What is the primary characteristic needed? IMO he doesn't have to be Diggs II.

Field stretcher?
Possession guy?

But embedded in all that is
Can he get open?
Can he catch?

What about route running?

I would not fault the Vikings for selecting Mims in the first at all. My preference is to trade back from 25 to perhaps Green Bay believe it or not and get picks 30 and 62. We probably have to throw in 105. If not Green Bay maybe the Bengals for 33 and 65. We should be able to get one of those WRs or a great corner at either of those picks plus get another mid day 2 pick as a bonus. I'm loving it.
