If we don't make a move for a safety then we are converting somebody from CB to Safety. Boyd and Hand have always been mentioned as likely safety conversions.

Extremely soft underbelly on the inside of the trenches.

Indy and Tenn are going to punch us in the mouth square down the middle.

Teams will shift gifted pass rushers inside as GB did with Smith.

Uhg. Not many ways to hide these weaknesses.

first depth chart released....

https://www.vikings.com/news/2020-depth-chart-nfl-players

starters:
stephen and jaleel johnson
hughes and hill

O-line has me nervous.

Me too. So does Jaleel Johnson and Shamar Stephen.

Every other aspect of the defense including the young Cornerbacks I’m good with.

Think the WR/TE room will impress as well.

I hear ya. I’m a bit more relaxed on the interior d line because there are things we can do with scheme to help them out because there are elite defenders behind them and next to them. Also, perhaps they’ll be average or even above- we don’t really know yet. That interior o line must stand on their own. Come on big surprise from Dozier and Bradbury! I don’t know what to wish for in regards to Elflein because history says there’s only one way he’s getting replaced. Can’t really wish that on him.

Who do we go to on our roster to stop the run in the trenches?

Tough to hide that without simply bringing personnel up in the box.

This would be my biggest concern as it exposes real fast our young corners.

SF killed us up the middle on the way to 186 yards rushing in the playoffs. We got a run stopper type DT, but Pierce opted out.

There was a CB purge. Given our bad cap situation we had to draft 1-2 CBs high, and we did.

Diggs was traded. We had to draft a WR high and we did.

Back to SF. Cook, 9 carries for 18 yards. They sacked Cousins 6 times. We had to address the OL. We brought in an OTOTF

I'm hoping the corners turn out to be above-average or better and are able to handle the challenge as we will have to bring a safety into the box with regularity and/or run blitz the linebackers. It's no doubt a problem but like I said at least there are things that can be done to mitigate the damage. Dozier, Bradbury, and Elflein are going to be tested early and often and there's very little we can do to help them out if they fail.

I would add Reiff-Dozier are going to be put to the test on week one with blitzes galore targeting Cousins blind spot. We can 'scheme' by rolling out every pass play. Yeah, we play with half a field but perhaps just announce it as a tribute to Tarvaris Jackson.

Lest we not forget how badly Za'Darius Smith embarrassed our offensive line last December. Hopefully there will not be a repeat this weekend.

We have to hope that Jaleel Johnson finally settles in at NT. And Watts keeps producing with added PT.

JJ needs to realize his potential and Watts needs to continue his progression. Interesting to me, JJ played a lot of NT but is listed and getting PT at 3T. Watts played 3T last year but is listed and getting PT as NT.

In Week 2 last year Everson Griffen created 11 pressures by himself, which was one of the top performances in any game by any edge rusher in 2019. Under pressure Rodgers went 6-for-18 in that game with 72 yards. When he wasn’t pressured, Rodgers went 17-for-17 with 143 yards and two touchdowns.

Rhodes was awful covering Adams. Hunter needs to play and destroy their RT (don't think they've named a starting RT). No more Bulga (sp).

He was hurt for awhile. f Lane Taylor and Billy Turner have also been in the mix. Whoever it is will probably a downgrade from the last few years. Aaron reportedly was unhappy about RT situation.

Damn well got me thinking 7-5 is possible.

How's that Yannick trade looking if we push it that far?

Spielman looking like the biggest target for replacement. Zimmer's stock is up.

Someone has to cheer up the board.

Fantastic win even if it costs the front office the chance of drafting Fields. It was refreshing to see Zimmer finally getting a handle on Lafleur's offense. Odd he struggled so much with Shanahan and Lafleur's scheme when he sees it every day in practice. I should add a note to that, in the other games we didn't gash them on the ground like yesterday. Thankfully the OLine didn't have to continuously block the Smith bros on 2nd and 3rd and long like the previous 3 games.

Perhaps the team will finish strong at 8-8, and who knows maybe make a run for the WC. Todd you're right 7-5 is possible with the upcoming schedule before the game in Tampa. You'll get 1 WC out of the South and one from the West most likely. A sweep of the Bears can go a long way. Those losses to the Titans and Seahawks are looming large right now.

I was told it was a cramp in his lower right leg that #Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd suffered late in the win over the Packers on Sunday, resulting in him having to leave the game.

This board is deader than Spielman at the trade deadline. Even the thread has gone strange.

We just fricken humiliated our worst rival.

C'mon my Viking bros.
