ORIGINAL: David F. No way the Vikings can win or get through a season with Kirk Cousins-Adam Thielen Harrison Smith and others un-vaccinated.đˇHow does and NFL team allow players and coaches to dictate.Whoâs the boss? - Larry Fitzgerald Sr. The Vikings got through last season with none of them vaccinated. Seems like a good chance they can manage this season with none of them vaccinated. There was no Delta variant last year. Mond just got Covid. No way they make it this year unless they get 90%+ of the team vaccinated, especially the starters. I'm vaccinated. Will that protect me from the Delta variant? It will protect you from getting killed by it. But you will pass it to 9 or 10 people, and of those 9 or 10, it will kill those who are not vaccinated. So the vaccination for COVID is close to worthless for the Delta Variant. Ouch. If by worthless, you mean it will keep you from getting really sick and dying, then yes. If the bolded above that you told me is 100% accurate then it may not be completely worthless, but it will be kind of worthless if I'm still going to pass it on to 9 or 10 people possibly killing them. It might be better if it just kills me quick preventing me from passing it on to so many others. My life isn't that important. Or am I doomed to pass it on to 9 or 10 people either way? Unvaccinated, the average person infects 5-8 people. That's what R=5 to R=8 means (reproductive number). For Delta strain ONLY, early reports suggested that vaccinated people had similar viral loads, which suggested that they might transmit the virus at a similar rate, however, even those reports had the virus clearing faster. And the study had some other issues, like a cutoff for people with low viral counts, which sort of guarantees that the viral counts will be similar, and it wasn't randomized. But a big study just came out of England in the last couple days, randomized, and showed vaccinated people had markedly lower viral counts. Core take away: Vaccination almost certainly cuts the chances you spread the Delta strain. That is good news.
