Darrisaw just had a second procedure done. The Vikings are still expecting him to be available by the first game of the season.

I hope so. Have you read that today somewhere?

I saw the Darrisaw tweet and then read this about Bateman:

Core muscle surgery often means around eight weeks, though John Harbaugh says the #Ravens are expecting Bateman back in September, which would be six weeks or fewer.

...............

I'm sure severity, location etc all factor in ... but I didn't need to see that

(or in bigo's case, scratch and sniff that)

I have very high hopes for Darrisaw, but I'm getting concerned that injuries will always be a problem with him.

Blake Brandel has been in at left tackle for the past couple series; Rashod Hill has been watching on the side, standing with his helmet in his hand.

And who will our left tackle see this season (whether it's him or someone else)?

Khalil Mack (twice), Aaron Donald, TJ Watt, Joey Bosa, Myles Garrett, Nick Bosa, Demarcus Lawrence, JJ Watt, Za'Darius Smith (twice), Chandler Jones, Jadeveon Clowney and Arik Armstead.

Good luck fellas!

I'm just glad our medical staff spotted this nagging little problem during the pre-draft process or it could be worse

Darrisaw could be missing practice time and maybe even have to go in for a follow-on procedure.

Kellen Mond compared his COVID symptoms to having the flu when he was younger. "Day two through four is where I struggled the most but I was still kind of around and functioning. I was still in meetings. And still trying to do as much as I can to work out and stay in shape."

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
I asked Mond, who is unvaccinated, whether his bout with COVID-19 encourages him to get vaccinated. Here's what he said.

"“I’ve talked to people around me who I trust. I think it’s a little bit more in the conversation since I’ve had COVID-19 but I think those are personal things I’m going to speak about. Like everyone is entitled to their own opinion.”

we can stop wondering why darrisaw fell to the Vikings at 23...we can stop thinking that spielman made a brilliant maneuver to get more picks and draft a top-tier tackle....

this is what happens when you use all of your young tackles as guards - instead of just signing a decent phucking guard - the vikings are near the bottom of 'money teams are spending on their offensive line' this year....

and what about our big free agent wide receiver?...will he ever see the field as a viking?....

sooner or later, spielman will be signing larry fitzgerald....

there was talk that brandel was the best 'pass blocking' tackle in the draft, but absolutely couldn't run block...we're going to be playing a lot of 12/22 personnel this year....

Yep.

X - Cleveland - Bradbury - Udoh - O'Neill

The problem is they are literally unable to draft even an average guard. Has anyone in the scouting dept. been fired?

Seems the only decent G we've had in the Spielman era was Joe Berger whom we picked up as a FA in 2011.

LT is such an important position, I would IMMEDIATELY move Cleveland over there to compete, and hopefully become the starter there.

LT Orlando Brown would have made A LOT of sense, I hear they really like him in KC. He is working with Mahomes on things they can do together against certain matchups.

And if you are Mr. Brown... why on earth would you choose the Vikings over the Chiefs?

Because the missing piece or two is all that is needed to get over the top?

I would think the Chiefs would seem like a far better bet to get over the top than the Vikes to an objective FA... ymmv

I would have loved Brown as a FA but once the Chiefs entered the picture I don't think you can fault the Vikes for losing out.

Now could they have found SOME FA LT? You know... like the guy they had at LT last year who played pretty solidly... yeah, absolutely...

But Brown wasn't coming here.

According to Overthecap, the Vikings have $13 million dollars to work with and a roster that is pretty much set everywhere except at oline. As usual. Spielman needs to get on the phone with Russell Okung and Austin Reiter and get them in camp. Yes, they are both older and have injury histories, but this team already needs reinforcements.

Actually he very well could have. Brown was not a FA and only demanded to either play LT or be traded. KC simply out bid us.
