re: Coaches and managers of the current era ("w/ the constant PR crapola")

Ruesse: The next one [coach of the Vikings] is going to be a 40 year-old cheerleader. After this it's going to be all BS ...

- Disclaimer: after the last time I listened to him on Rand I decided I wouldn't listen again mostly bc he's an aging dinosaur and his views of Randy Moss (which prob go hand-in-hand) but I couldn't help myself with Rands view that Zimmer and the Vikings ought to back off pissing off Cousins

EAGAN, Minn. -- Veteran free-agent pass-rusher Everson Griffen is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, a source told ESPN.

An easy signing that won't move the needle. Instead, Spielman needs to earn his $ and get Russell Okung signed ASAP!

Agreed. Hill is a bum and Darrisaw hasn't even been healthy enough to practice.

It's frustrating to say the least. We have excellence at RT and now we have TWO decent RGs. We didn't need two starters at RG although I guess two is better than zero. Wasn't Ezra Cleveland drafted as a LT? What a mistake it was to have the need to patch him in at RG last season.

Hill is a bum? He has saved our bacon as a swing tackle a few times and makes backup money. Hinton, Hill, and Brandel are Practice Squad guys that developed into backups....where would we be w/o them?

Hill is ok as an emergency "break glass" sub if a guy gets dinged during a game.

But struggles mightily when he's the known started and DC's can game plan to exploit him. This fact has been well established. Where have you been? he's been a vet min backup for a reason.

We do have some options and they should be planning to implement them.

-Ezra could bump out to LT and Cole could be the LG.

-O'Neal could move over to LT and bump Oli out to RT and start Davis at RG.

-Sign Russell Okung to hold down the fort.

Not sure we can count on Darrisaw for at least a few games and it could be longer. We will have been bled out by Hill in that time frame.

What the hell are they thinking going into the season with an injured rookie and 2 low end backups, at best, for the most important position on the line?
This season is looking more and more like it could go sideways in real big hurry.

Looks like Conklin and Ham helping out a lot on left side.

Yup. We have to play 10 on 11 thanks to our poor choices at left tackle that can't handle one on one play.

Curse of Spielman. He never fails to somehow screw up the oline every year.

We could still move Cleveland out to left tackle, install Davis at center, and move Bradbury to left guard before the start of the season, couldn't we?

Yes, fortunately we do have some options. Hopefully they begin implementing them in the next PS game so we're not a hot mess week one.

Mike Zimmer said Everson Griffen would join the Vikings as a situational player. Said they talked with Griffen for quite a while and felt like he’s in a good place. But Zimmer said either Weatherly or Wonnum will be the starter.

Is anyone as worried as I am about our Backup QB situation?

All it takes is one unscrupulous DC (like that ****er from the Saints 2009 Greg Williams) and we are ****ed for the year.

Mond is NOT ready
Browning clearly never will be.

As for the Oline. We were gashing the Colts right up the middle with Ameer Abdullah.

yes Rashod Hill is a turnstyle and Darrisaw is injured and an unknown. but there are signs things are better.

I agree with others and signing a Russell Okung for a short term fix where he can mentor young Darrisaw....would be a great idea

I guess I'm just not a realist, yet, Daniel. But keep on that negative train - especially if it works for you.

So we are probably going 6 DEs and 4 DTs.

Mike Zimmer wants the passing offense to push the ball downfield more. “If you’re going to throw 5-yard check downs, it’s going to take 20 of them.”

OMG!!!

They drafted one of the best rookie wideouts in history but didn’t throw him the ball for the first two games because the head coach still thinks redshirting exists in the pros.

No, if the starter goes down you are almost always screwed. Might as well get a better draft pick.

Yup. After ripping all the player issues/injuries/opt outs (er wait, he wasn't aware we had any opt outs) we had he says "They might have been the worst 7-9 team in league history." then goes on to rip the coaching staff.

Basically the article was written to entertain those who are... well, entertained by this kind of stuff.

#Vikings now down to 80 players on roster. In addition to signing DE Everson Griffen, they've signed RB Ito Smith, waived QB Danny Etling, LB Christian Elliss, waived/injured DT Jordon Scott, placed DE Janarius Robinson on IR and officially placed LB Cam Smith on retired list.

The 'Why Your Team Sucks' series has been going on for many years and there's one for every team every year. Cheer up Francis.

I had seen this article a few weeks ago. I thought it was a bit incoherent and jumped all over the place. For me it felt like a waste of time reading it.
