Yet BR and Pittsburgh, won 31.25% more games…

I’ll take ~ 2 yards less YPA for 5 more wins…

All day..

So what's the point of ever discussing anything other than team W/L?

Cousins and the Vikings won 75% more games than the Texans, by your stated logic that puts you unequivocally in the Cousins is better than Deshaun Watson camp.

You, the lover of lower yards per passing attempt. The Anti-Zimmer, if you will.

Mike Zimmer wants the passing offense to push the ball downfield more. “If you’re going to throw 5-yard check downs, it’s going to take 20 of them.”

Bout damn time Zimmer acknowledges that our ST's suck. That math puts us at about the 1 inch line in our own end

You're not factoring in all the meathead holding, and false start penalties that are inevitable.

and the two or three tackles for loss and sacks because our line still sucks...

Vikings scrimmaged today with first-team offense going against first-team defense and 2s vs 2s. It's clear D.J. Wonnum is winning or has won the RDE job over Stephen Weatherly. Danielle Hunter looked fantastic and my concerns about his neck surgery are disappearing.

Cousins threw an early touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson (probably 2 yards) but otherwise first-team defense got the best of first-team offense. Jefferson was still in a no-contact red jersey. Greg Joseph missed four of 11 field goals, including a 55-yarder and 59-yarder.

Kellen Mond might have had his toughest day of camp. Had a tipped pass picked by Chazz Surratt, another pass almost picked by Surratt and had a ball knocked out of his hand by Armon Watts and returned for a touchdown.

Not worried about Mond or his acclimation to NFL level players or defensive schemes..

I think he will get it..

As long as he quits idolizing Cousins and gets a vaccination.

Browning was a U D F A signed in 2019.

Give Mond a year to learn, play him if possible with a better line, and I think he may be ok.

There is no question that Zimmer’s Teams have always had a defense that was better than the offense.. it is what it is..

Offensively we have skill players, except LT.

It’s more play calling, and the run first BS that holds back the offense..

That and Fn check down Charlie coaching philosophies…

Although, I still maintain the passing game is about 80% QB, 20% WR.

But as Daniel stated, Mond is very young and inexperienced.

Maybe like everyone else he hates Cousins and idolizes Smith or Thielen or Richardson instead ???

Watch highlights of practically any other team with hopes of, or who are, perennial contenders.

Their QB, does not force the OL to hold blocks for extended times because they scan and release or throw to spots on timing, quickly.

I swear, watching Our passing offense is cringeworthy, every… single.. time…

I can lose my voice over the course of a game.. screaming.. THROW IT.. FN THROW IT…GD IT THROW THE DAMN THING ALREADY..

nope.. sack..or late, almost picked, contested throw, or circus, catch

Watching Zimmer’s offense try to execute a hurry up or Long yardage offense is so frustrating..

Throw Past the LOS or Yard markers..

The 3 yard check down it DRILLED into every QB that plays For Zimmer…

I am moving Zimmer out of the Good coach column, into the “Yeesh” column, with Childress, Tice, Frazier.

It been 20 years since Dennis Gren exploded in a self destructive mode.

Twenty… years ……

Dan, why on earth would you want our team to try such extremely risky plays?

Re-watching some of the Colts game, our WRs sure didn't run very interesting or deep routes. There were a lot of sit and park "buttonhook" routes and short out routes where they ran a little ways and just kind of sat, covered. I'm not sure how one pushes it down field when our routes are run like they are all tethered to the LOS but some quick slants, posts/fades and jets would be a nice addition. Granted our protection has been horrible, and Cousins would probably check down regardless of pressure but sheesh, that was some awful playcalling. Part of professional QB'ing is to throw people open or put it in a spot a WR can only get it and I almost never see us do it, while other teams do it to us quite a bit (when not in a soft zone). Hell, the 3rd string GB QB was looking more competent than all 3 of ours last game.

Like I said, I think it’s a function of play calling that emphasizes the “ safe throws” and coaching that emphasizes “no turnovers, don’t put us in a hole”..

That’s on Zimmer and kubiac.

And captain check down.

Throw open or only spot receiver can’t get it is not how you get 80% completion..

Zimmer says he wants to push down field, the next time he calls a balls out game plan, will be maybe his second..

I wish the NFL would have partnered with the XFL or one of the other leagues (that failed) and had a system in place for NFL teams to allocate some players.

Kurt Warner is a HOF QB only because he got a chance to develop/prove himself in Arena league and NFL Europe.

it's totally coaching...let's see what we do in real games - zimmer has to unleash the dogs - step into the present with the offense, dude - you can still do your defense....

i like what I've seen from mond...with the first team he'll develop just fine...he's got a quick release and a rifle of an arm, gets rid of the ball quickly, and doesn't take sacks...also, he throws to, and hits moving targets....

if cousins doesn't produce this season let's figure out a way to trade him and move on with mond....

I don’t see it, yet. Just because Mond has some draftable qualities … there’s a long way to go to figure out if he is starting caliber, much less a good starter. At the very least, one more offseason - TC - preseason just to get a little better handle on him. Unless he’s pressed into service this season because of injury … he hasn’t shown nearly enough to throw the franchise at him next year. No way.

Would love to sign Wright but unless Barr is a Hunter (or Barr) situation from last year unfolding … can’t see us spending enough to keep him from rejoining the Seahawks.

Put Mond in with some 1st teamers...I remember seeing Dante sit the first year and show zilch....teamed him up with CC and Moss; no issues.

Everson Griffen signed with the Vikings for the vet minimum of just $1,075,000. It is not guaranteed and if he goes on injured reserve he only gets half. Talk about team friendly.

So normally in the 3rd preseason game the starters play into the 3rd quarter, and the last game of the preseason they don't play at all. Which is it this year?

Zimmer said this game would be pretty much a repeat of last game. Maybe a quarter of play from the fully healthy starters.

Andy Reid said he'd play his starters the entire first half.

also, mond has great pocket awareness and mobility...i think that he'll be ready to make a run at leading the offense next season....

the only way to develop him is to run him at full speed with the starting offense...i think he'll be ready to take that step next season....

somehow this barr thing gives me a 'strung out, gone for the season' feeling...wright almost signed with the raiders a few weeks back....
