ORIGINAL: Ricky J This is depressing ... Dustin Baker @DustBaker · 4h The 2021 Vikings are the first team in NFL history to have a QB with 30+ Passing TDs, a RB with 1,000+ Rushing Yards, a WR with 1,500+ Receiving Yards -- and a losing record to show for it. Thanks Zim. I read today that Kirk cousins needs 40 yards passing and 0 INTs this weekend to become the second player in history to have 4000+ yards 30+ TDs and less than 10 INTs to finish with a losing record. The first player to do that was also Kirk cousins. Kirk may not be the problem... but he doesn't seem to be the answer either. Thing is we say things like that in a sport were there are more teammates and coaches than any other sport on the planet - and he's suppose to get us to the SB regardless of his surroundings. im betting he's here next year. The bottomline is, QBs are judged on making plays or not making negative plays or raising the level of their teammate's play or attacking opponents or making adjustments ... that make a difference in the win column. No other position in the sport has as much influence. And Cousins does make a difference ... nobody should dispute that ... at about a 50% positive rate over his 10 year career regardless of teammates, coaches, opponents, franchises, etc. That's just not good enough. But I agree, I think he is here next year because he's overpaid by any measure and why would anybody else trade for their own cap killing meteor extinction event. If Cousins had a contract commensurate to what he brings, I think he's d be easy to move and easy to get something in return. Or we'd fall back on him guilt free and without remorse for another year as an effective bridge to our next stab at a franchise QB. QBs that put their team in a position to win and the FGs are missed, or the rb fumbles, according to ref and replay, the unnecessary roughness isn't called and the defense gives up the entire field, again, etc, etc and there's no credit given to the QB for doing his part ... .... ugh, I don't want to get into defending Cousins on a message on messageboard - my fragile self-esteem could take a beating - but it ain't Cousins fault we didn't make the playoffs, imo While there's no perfect solution, it seems like QBR is the best way to judge a QB's impact on their team. Cousin's is currently ranked 15. Can't get much more mediocre than that. It's safe to say that Spielman, Zimmer, and Cousins have all played a role in the Viking's continued struggles to make the playoffs.
