PA hoping the new GM isn't the one making the final call on who to draft if there's disagreement. WTF??? Old white man has a problem.

PA had too much access to Spielman and Zimmer...Poor guy.

I hope KAM cuts him off.

I want offensive head coach. Defensive head coach just means you are looking for another OC if they are good.

Isn't the flip true?

The flipside is more true of coordinators … I’d prefer an off. mind at the top that automatically imposes some continuity on that side of the ball, even over multiple OCs.

But wtf you need a good HC and both coordinators to be good period or you’r sunk so hand-wringing over one or the other is premature.

Ok. The flip is true.

I think a very large percentage of the most successful teams have Offensive Head Coaches. I think the league rules slant towards offense and an offensive perspective at the top is best.

obviously there are exceptions.

Actually you could help it. You could resist the urge to assume the glass is half empty. There's no reason to believe they didn't get the one they wanted.

like always, I'm all in...but right now, it's just a glass....

now, let's show a little urgency in selecting our 1st choice for head coach before he signs elsewhere....

I haven't been able to listen to kfan for years and PA in particular, unless they has a good guest around draft time.

I really don't believe there is anyone with less football sense than Paul Allen. His takes have always been god awful.

Just seems like there are more good DCs that are demonstrated not cut out for HC, so less likely to get snagged again. The exception maybe being Pat Schurmur.

You get the GM right first and if the Asst GM rumors happen; bonus. I would be happy with any of the coaches (except the retreads). Pederson won the SB so I don't consider him a retread.

I'd go with an OC over a DC. Seems an OC is, or should be, naturally more attuned to clock management, timeouts, etc.

pick the wrong 'Next QB' and all the bla bla bla isn't going to matter.

in the NFL the wrong choice of QB can set any franchise back multiple years depending on how long you are going to beat your head against the door with him. See Ponder.

the Ponder situation was worse.

they didn't bring anybody in to compete with him because they thought he wouldn't handle it well.

That's nuts, who does he want to have the final say?

Leber tried to bail him out. PA didn't dig any deeper only because he STFU for the rest of the segment.

well … full-disclosure, I made a very similar statement a day or two go … if there’s a dispute in the draft room - is the analytics guy going to have to make a final call for the personnel guys he hired as his experts?

I’m not seeing the racial side of that …. I guess I’m an anaytics racist when it comes to judging college football talent.

Maybe the final decision is better off being cold and calculating instead of intuitive. Who knows. It will take a few drafts to build analytics on the new guy.

Interesting. So you're saying the GM may defer the draft selection to a scout? That doesn't seem like a good idea. Who's getting paid the big bucks?

This is my take on Analytics.

You can't base everything on just the numbers.

If you do, you will think Kirk Cousins is one of the best QBs in Football and the numbers bear that out.

There is a feel to it. There is more than just the numbers.

Analytics can only get you so far. You do have to read between the lines sometimes.
