ORIGINAL: Phil Riewer ESPN has the story of the Vikings being one of Watson's two preferred teams. I would do it if he wasn't in so much Doo Doo. I would do it if the league says no suspension is on the horizon. AND He settles all the lawsuits. Which probably means writing a lot of million dollar checks. Problem is, I doubt Watson has the money (taxes, agent fees, and lifestyle take a lot of money) so he might demand a massive contract extension instantly. Being an asshole with his team doesn’t seem to be a problem for him. He doesn't need an extension. Cash due (not cap hit, but actual money he will get): 2022: 35M 2023: 37M 2024: 32M 2025: 32M “Need” vs “I just wrote $22 million in settlement checks and a few more million to my lawyers, so I going to need another extension and bonus ASAP”. So that leaves him with 100M+ still coming to him. There are plenty of things to worry about with Watson, I don't think him demanding a new contract is one of them. Murray has two years left on his rookie deal and is already being an AHole, everybody is different. Watson already cried and took his ball and went home when he wasn't happy with the coaching hire, so "benefit of the doubt" is a little dubious already IMO. Apples and oranges. Murray has one year left and is owed only 5.4M. Of course he wants a new deal. That's standard operating procedures. He is also subject to a 5th year option as a 1st rounder correct? And he is only 3 years into it. So Arizona has complete control for two more years. Heck they could tag him once after that, if they tag him twice I think it gets insane.
