Kevin O’Connell said the #Vikings discussed the possibility of requesting a Week 5 bye after the London game, but preferred a later bye, so they decided not to push for an early bye. They requested a home game after London instead, O’Connell said.

That’s a big get for Kwesi and the Vikings.

The #Vikings have hired former #49ers Director of Research and Development Demitrius Washington as their new VP of Football Operations. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, who actually held this title with the #Browns, is finalizing his football structure, and this hire is a key part of it.

It sure feels like we have quite an exorbitant non-player headcount. When do we have to cut down to 53? We could stuff a couple of assistants on the practice squad, maybe put a couple on IR. We even have non-player headcount tucked away on the roster with Mannion! The team plane might need an upper row.

The problem is that minion is worthless as player or coach..

But that also applies to others..

I understand getting creative.. but what real nfl quality player is going to take advice and positional “ instruction” from a no chance in hell kinda guy..

The 53 is the holy grail.. but we as fans have zero control, other than spend or not spend on the retail side, on what comes out of that locker-room.

Luigi Vilain was a star in Rookie camp and people think he could make the 53 man roster.

Steve Wyche with some verbatim, some pp on this 2 min answer to a question from Ron Johnson on whether Kevin O can come in and win now . Yes.

They are built to win now. They [the tree Kevin O comes from] are not just play callers, play designers, they communicate with everybody on the roster, how to function individually, how to function among your position group, and how to function in totality .... that means everything that you know you fit in every layer of this game it helps you understand why you are doing the things that you are doing. Kevin has learned that and everyone you talk to says he'll be able to convey that ...

I won't be able to play but I just saw this:

So I saw a poster about a Scramble where you get to possibly golf or meet Viking greats in Detroit Lakes Forest Hills Golf Course--July 9th 2022 11AM.
Former Vikings scheduled to be there: Henry Thomas, Erin Henderson, Stu Voigt, Paul Krause, Rickey Young, Ed McDaniel, Mark Mullaney, and many other former NFL players.
Sponsored by the Roadhouse in Comorant.

Notes from the first week of Vikings OTAs:
— Jesse Davis and Chris Reed rotated at starting RG with Garrett Bradbury as the starting center.
— Nothing handed to rookies. Cine and Ingram both with backups
— Bisi Johnson back from ACL tear as WR4.
— Irv Smith Jr. ran some routes.

Just got home from the Vikings' first OTA that was open to the media First team offensive line: Darrisaw, Cleveland, Bradbury, Reed/Davis, O'Neill. Irv Smith was doing some work. Remember, no hitting allowed in these practices.

The Minnesota #Vikings have the 3rd youngest team in the #NFL (based on average age) and the 7th youngest team in the 4 major sports.

- - that's great! ... I hope!

With our offense looking to be better than avg to very good I hope we're planning on being aggressive on D. Blitz more, press for ints etc. This could get real fun real fast if we can get on top ofv
teams early and eliminate a lot of the last minute nail bitters.

I hope KO goes for it on 4th a healthy amount.

I don't know what Zimmer's rate of going for it or converting on 4th was. Feels from memory he did go for it at a decent enough clip...I just don't remember a lot of success. It felt disjointed and poorly executed from memory.

My memory also says Zimmer would go for it on 4th quite often and seemed to be in synch with what the analytics say. I believe a big problem in the success rate was that he tended to run it up the gut with a telegraphed "run-it-up-the-gut" formation. I've not looked up a dang thing here but I believe a spread out formation gives a better chance because the D can't defend a quick pass AND stack against a run.

tidbit from the Vikings chapter I'm working on:

Kirk Cousins registered 93 pass plays from under center w/o play-action last year. Mac Jones was next at 55, and no other player had more than 36.

Seeing a lot of hints that Cook will be used more in the pass game this year. After seeing him go out as a receiver (highlights) when at FSU it does make sense.

Maybe there will be more formations of 2 RB w/o Ham? You start mixing and matching the speed the team has in the backfield of Kene, Chandler, and of course Cook and things could be quite fun.
