Brand new season with nothing but promise ahead. Ain't no darkening my skies.

I'm waiting to see if the 3-4 hybrid, simplified scheme will improve our defense in any major way. It was awful to watch us give up points at the end of halves last year.

Phillips was another oft-injured, relatively big signing. Hunter was renegotiated. And a couple of others, all covered earlier. Their health, performance, etc. can be assessed in a couple of years.

As for Williams, we don't know if health was the reason for not selecting Williams. It seems it was more about trading the pick to get additional but lesser picks.

Couple of Camp days away from having news left and right.

Still trying to ascertain how much the 3-4 will be used. A post a while back said they'll used 3-4 and 4-3. Seems like a lot for mainly the front 7 to learn.

Kwesi passed on a 1st round WR in Williams that had recently been injured, traded back. Then traded up in the 2nd round for a CB (Booth Jr.) that had recently been injured.

Major FA signing was an oft injured Packer, Smith.

I think Kwesi did a good job while being handcuffed with negative resources ...

Yes many of the players we've kept and brought in have a 'poised to return to full health' label. Which is more of a gamble than normal wear and tear stuff.

I have no problem with shopping the one-winged poultry aisle, if that's all you can afford. Hopefully a little training camp marinade will get those things flying and swooping like three-winged chickens.

It's settled, Cousins is a "good" quarterback.

And $81,166,668 to play for the next two years is, apparently, "good" money.

Cousins is tied for the 9th highest paid QB in the league. The QB's right behind him and making almost as much money are Jared Goff and Carson Wentz. It's the market rate for a QB like Cousins. Some people can't get over it.

The eight-figure amount of dead money he will get to not play football puts him higher, and distances him from your cherry-picked two QBs signed by directionless teams.

If Zimmer said that, he'd be fried here.

Or maybe StarTrek can jump in and say Kwesi hasn't been here long enough to make that assessment

Adofo-Mensah said. “I don’t believe that I can pick the next Pat Mahomes that much better than anybody."

"That much" For sure better though. Than anybody.

I like Tony Kornheiser's answer on PTI to the question "How should Kirk Cousins feel about GM Adofo-Mensah's remarks?"

"He should feel RICH."

Your bitching does make me tired. So again what was the alternative? Similar to signing Hicks and Phillips to shore up the defense....we would always love to see your alternatives which you never provide.

I also liked the recent visit with the Cousins Zimmer Detroit incident.

I believe it just as Leber's account of it.

And our season was literally done then. What was that...week 5?
I don't think a team can overcome that much division at the top. No way Mike and Kirk continued their weekly film session from that point. The newly implemented one at that. It literally could never work. Cousins forced on Zimmer changed our trajectory.

Man Zimmer was ready to throw down though and some people knew it. Of all the things that bugged me about Zimmer...that's funnily enough not on my list.

I'm pretty excited about this new staff.

I used to be a Zimmer apologist and rail on the new era guys. But, the success they(new era guys) have is proof that we were a sinking ship with the old rigid coaching.

What don't you like about my two facts, the first being a quote from Kwesi, the second being contract numbers?

Did I say he needed to go and we needed to seek an alternative?

Do tell...

HOF QB on a rookie contract; is that your alternative? I am sure any GM would love that.
So your alternative is to post a Kwesi tweet that every GM would love to have....gotcha.

So you are up in arms about my post that had just a single word from Kwesi and, to compare & contrast, the contract he negotiated?

Then you say I posted a Kwesi tweet, which of course is wrong.

We know comprehension isn't your strong suit, but try to keep up.

Yep, just a few posts back someone else posted about the Kwesi tweet referring to Phil's "HOF QB on a rookie contract" that he said I posted.

Folks, Phil has had a busy and particularly brutal morning in the Political threads, and when that happens he often miss-assigns posts because he gets overwhelmed.

Not crowning him, but Booth is a CB I wanted pre-draft like in some sort of trade down-trade up scenario. He and a couple of others, but mainly him.

Cherry picked? They were the next two guys on the list. The Vikings have 7 players on the payroll with eight-figures in dead money. Why cherry pick Cousins' contract? In any case, that's a pointless argument. Why are you grinding on the dead money amount for a player you aren't going to cut?
