Has Mason Cole's play in Garrett Bradbury's absence necessitated a conversation about whether he'll stay part of the current OL group when Bradbury comes back?

Zimmer: "We’ve had that conversation, we’ll just have to see this week in practice. Bradbury hasn’t been here in 2 wks or I think he’s missed two weeks now. We’re just going to have to sort it out this week. But Mason’s done a really nice job. He’s done a terrific job. We’ll just try to figure this out. It’s better than having no options."

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Deion Sanders just called Mike Zimmer in the middle of his Monday-after Zoom call and Zimmer answered in the middle of his availability. El oh el.

What's Mason's PFF scores. San Diego might have the worst interior DLine in the league. Seems like just about every run play we had a 3 yard push, with the RBs finishing it off.

74.6 at Baltimore, 60.9 at LA Chargers

Bradbury weeks 1-8 (bye 7) 37.4, 70.8, 58.7, 60.0, 65.5, 54.5, 59.7

Bradbury has had a few good weeks. Two games isn't enough to judge Cole but it appears he is a slightly yet noticeably better center than Bradbury. Kind of like what every last person that follows the team already figured.

Chargers are the worst run defense in the NFL. Giving up 155 YDS/G. That's almost 20 yards more than the next worse team. And they're tied for last giving up 4.8 YPC.

Strangely it turns out we were not that effective against them only 106 yards on 29 carries (not counting Cousins kneeldowns)

That's crazy talk. You're saying we should play the guard we drafted as a guard at the guard position? Instead of the tackles that are filling in? The hell you say.

PFF ain’t scripture … as you point out, most in here have seen enough of Bradbury to evaluate. Cole may or may not be better or maybe he’s only good at limited things or maybe he’s like Hill, decent for short fill-in stretches …

He has played well enough in 2 games to get starter time over the abject failure.

If Cole regresses or disappears … then Zimmer can have his organizational mathematical debate over 1 + 1 = ?

I can't remember. Was he impressive in the pre season?

The guy we missed out on was Trey Smith. Medical concerns kept him from being a high draft pick. KC took him in 6th Round. A low risk move that we should have made.

There is more to center than just snapping the ball...the line calls. Cole seemed to cover for Bradbury just fine in that aspect...

Give Cole a shot at Kenny Clark. We know Bradbury can't handle him.

I agree.

Nobody is claiming that Cole is a good center. Is he the lesser of two evils?

Bradbury has not earned an ‘undisputed starter’ designation.

I think a sixth grader could have coached this squad to 4-5.

Will we have a full squad this weekend? It all comes down to Covid tests.

So if you get a false positive, then a negative, then another false positive, followed by a negative. Are you good??

Why are the Vikings 4-5 despite being in the top 10 of nearly every statistical and analytical category?

a different head coach could easily have 3 more wins.

or a couple more loses ...

I think a sixth grader could have coached this squad to 4-5.

Sure as long he or she didn't hire their son to be the DC.

-ive got a big prob w/ the Iowa OC, too

Adam Thielen, on the #Vikings being more aggressive last week: “Yeah, I think it was a good showing of what the formula kinda has to be to win games. It's a little bit different league nowadays. You have to be able to be aggressive, because there's just so much firepower.”

#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said he has made a decision on who will start at center Sunday but won't reveal who it will be.

Smart. Keep the Packers guessing as their entire game plan depends on whether it is the worst center in the league or his backup.

Maybe Thielen can combo up on WR/HC duties for the next few seasons.
