“”Gonna have to disagree big time. Mental health issues are no reason to lose guns. And the prospect of losing guns is only an impediment to people looking for help. The vast majority of the mentally ill are not homicidal or suicidal. Just because I'm bipolar doesn't mean I lose the right to self defense or ability to hunt.””

Response from a gun lover on Reddit…

Jesus why am I not surprised by this kind of insanity anymore..

Just watched his video. Really scary stuff.

Who cares about football, get this man the help he really needs.

Do you mean who cares about football in relation to Griff's future or are we supposed to suspend our feelings bc one of ours is in trouble? Again.

The former.

But basically a man's well being is more important than a game.

But your mileage may vary.

Why even phrase your opinion as a question. Just make a statement.

Are they still in a standoff at Griff's home?

Not seeing any updates.

PFT seems to be avoiding the story. Joke of a site.

New official update from the Vikings:

Law enforcement agencies have notified us Everson Griffen came out of his home without incident and is now getting the care he needs. We are thankful to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the Carver County Sheriff's Office, the Minnetrista Police Department and the Orono Police Department for their quick response and dedication to ensuring the situation ended peacefully. Our focus remains on Everson's health and safety and providing the proper resources for him and his family.

Fair enough.

I care about him but I don't trust that he's not responsible for driving himself to this position. It's not the mental illness, it's all that exacerbates it and wondering if he was doing all the things he promised he would to avoid this.

"I was going to my meetings. I did the whole nine. That was a part of my recovery. Just to reset. I wanted to reset."

“And I’m happy that 2018 happened, because I wouldn’t be sitting here today, being able to tell my story and showing teams that I am strong, I am healthy and there’s nothing really that you have to worry about, because I’m doing all the right things. There’s nothing I’m doing behind the scenes that they should be worried about. I’m doing everything possible to make sure that 2018 doesn’t happen again. And it will not happen.”

If it's purely a manic episode he has my full support. If not then once the idea of a tragedy unfolding Chris Benoit style is removed I'm left picking up the pieces moving forward...with football.

PFT finally jumps in on the story. I find it suspect that they sat on it.

I can’t address full blown bipolar1, because I never have out of control manic episodes..

Bipolar2 is more about depression and feeling of failure, loss and pointlessness of everyday things, in general.

Without my meds.. I have zero motivation, I become extremely introverted and avoid contact with everyone but my wife, which drives her crazy..

Whatever “ support” EG thinks he gets from the life of professional football, with its win/lose culture and drive for success at any cost, even to your own Heath, mental or physical, is not helping.

He needs to understand that, and until he does and becomes proactive about his own care and mental health, quits listening to those who enable his distraction and destruction, he is lost.

Retire, get help, redirect yourself in a constructive way, and put this toxic environment behind you.

I agree, Dan.

I was hoping for a happy ending. Was 100% behind his return and loved when he made a play. It feels over with us on hold until we see some bad news titled 'Former Viking Everson Griffen...' insert tragic news.

It's a shame.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
General Manager Rick Spielman: "We got him the necessary help that he needs and (he's) in care of medical processionals." Spielman reiterated that he is getting the care that needs, would not specify if Griffen is in a hospital or elsewhere.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Spielman said the Vikings have an Emergency Action Plan that went into effect early this morning once the team knew their was an issue with Griffen. Said the team had "boots on the ground" pretty quickly once the issue arose with Griffen.

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
Spielman speaks to Everson Griffen's wife, Tiffany, and their 3 children: "Their family is our family and it's important in this moment to respect health and well being of everyone in this situation."

Chad Graff@ChadGraff
Rick Spielman gave a stern warning to other organizations that don't put mental health as a top priority and don't invest in the necessary resources "to prevent a potential tragedy -- that’s why we’re very blessed here with the Wilf family."

Courtney Cronin@CourtneyRCronin
An updated press release from the Minnetrista PD says that Everson Griffen came out of his residence "without incident" shortly after 1:30 pm and was transported via ambulance to an area health care facility.

Somethings going on with Griff. Losing it on Instagram.

We can't have nice things.

Don't read him on Instagram and then life will be good. Knowing what's going on in everyones life through social media is not the recipe for happiness

I don't follow anyone on Instagram or Twitter. Just followed a link from reddit.

There's merit in your point though. Sometimes I wish I took in no information at all...just the games.

sigh

I go to great lengths to avoid the news but when you like to look at Twitter and follow a message board you just can't escape it all the time.

- just before finding out how bad it got with Griff I was thinking how nice it is still that we won last week ... but like you I can't help feel the buzz kill right now

This is how Brian Robison does it to cheese heads…

It was a staged thing, but still ….

What cheesehead in their unright mind would lay hands on Robison at US Bank?

None..

Iowa defense +

Iowa special teams +
Iowa offense

And as you know the Iowa OC is the coaches son - we have serious nepotism issues with our favorite teams, Dan

Are the Vikings for real or posers ?

I expect them to go out west and get trounced.

Win this game and earn some respect please.
