Could the Vikings trade Theilen for a 1st rounder, and strike gold again, like they did with Jefferson ? (Either with the 12th pick, or the pick acquired)

Is there a Charlie Joiner Jr., Wes Chandler Jr., or James Lofton Jr. available in this draft ?

No.

No team is going to trade anything near a 1st round pick for a 32 year-old WR coming off an injury and 3 years left of a 4 year 64M contract.

Agree. Thielen doesn't have a ton of value right now. Best bet is to get him to take a pay cut to stay home.

I’m thinking about how Pickett would fit with our offense. He has an accurate arm, and he can make the home run throws when he needs to. He also has no problem tucking the ball and running if he needs to. I don’t know if he is worth a 12 pick when we have other needs all over the place, but we should take a look at a replacement for Kirk.

I would keep Cousins for 2022, if that doesn't work I trade Jefferson for a high #1 pick (somebody that already has their QB of the future) and get a QB.

Any scenario where we trade JJ is unacceptable.

No it's not. The going in assumption is we get equal value. But since draft picks are hit and miss, it would have to be for established players.

I don't see any reason to trade JJ, just saying. Further, after looking at the All-Pro 1st Team IMO the only player worth discussing in such a trade is Micah Parsons. Other players are superb, but don't play as valuable a position or are older. Bosa and Garrett are considerations but not seeing their positions impact the final score as much. Don't know if (undrafted!) NE CB Jackson really is an island/shut down CB.

As for the 2nd Team All-Pro, I'd trade JJ for Burrow and probably Chase (especially with an additional year of contractual control).

If the Vikings go in the toilet JJ won’t want to stay

A franchise QB is more valuable than a disgruntled WR with nobody capable of throwing him the ball.

Take away JJ, O'Neil and Darrisaw. You are left with 50 other players you can trade away and get as high in the draft as you like.

JJ is on a rookie deal and may be the best WR in the game. Even if you get a #1 it's bad value, we'd be drafting a WR to try to replace him and Theilen

No, I would use it to draft up to the top for a QB if next season doesn't work out. Trade JJ to a team with a top 2 or 3 pick that already has their QB.

i'd consider this; trade #12/'22 for a 2nd round pick in '22, and a 1st in '23....

maybe trade hunter for draft capital....

consider trading cook and possibly others in 2023....

start stocking up for a big qb trade-up in 2023....

Recent history suggests it takes a ton of draft capital to move up to the top 1-2 spots in the draft. And it's often fools gold as the lower first round QBs have arguably been better than the ones selected with the vaunted top 1-2 picks.

Draft the right QB and use the rest of the first and second rounders on D and OL.

Drafting a QBOTF is a total crapshoot..

Success or failure is dependent on soo many things..

Ability to play against elite level players and coaches..

Who and how the offensive side of the ball is built with game planning, RB’s, WR’s, blocking and situational playcalling.

The learning curve ability of a college
Level QB to read and react to the scheme and coverages..

The responsibility ultimately falls on the GM and HC to either make it work, or move the **** on without building a cap hell contract on a “ maybe, … if only…”

Great QB’s can come from anywhere in the draft, they have “IT”…

Our team hasn’t been able to draft a QB with anything close to “IT” since Culpepper..

I guess we should have traded Randy Moss after the 2000 season.. because.. you know.. we wouldn’t have another chance until 2008-9..

Who wants JJ traded?

FFS

Build around your best players, not overpay for the ones on the downside of their careers.. Thielen, Barr, Hunter, Harrison Smith, Everson Griffen..

“The Whole “ he is a Zimmer guy”.. needs to get the F out of town, just like Z/S..

Move forward…join the NFL that puts a premium on scoring and shootouts..

Running backs still have value, but not by making your offense predictable when a coach relies on the 70’s style ground game between the tackles..

Running backs are the easiest part of an offense to replace, elite WR’s are not.

maybe the 'right' quarterback in there at #5, #7, or #9...or we trade future picks, too....

a better call might be to trade cousins and see what mond has as a starter - if he's weak, we might be drafting early and a trade up is easier, if he does well, we might night trade up at all....

if you don't have a QB, you have NOTHING.

If JJ wants out after the 2022 season you going to keep him out of spite?

I hope the Vikings get an offensive coach and he works his magic with Cousins but if it doesn't work I would like to see them trade anybody and everybody to get a real top 2 or 3 draft pick and use it on a QB.

The Vikings haven't had a long term solution at QB since Culpepper had his knee nuked.

Jefferson was a non factor Sunday because the Vikings had a complete piece of crap at QB, making him worthless.

I have a strong feeling Mond will be a bust. Zimmer was going a little crazy, but sometimes crazy people point out the truth.

It's like when Everson Griffin commented that Bakhtiari holds every play.

This draft is exceptionally weak for QBs. Not a good year to draft a QBOTF.

So find a way to live with Cousins for one more year (no extensions), Trade for Tyler Huntley or something and move on in 2023.

So, by your plan, every time we draft a stud, we should trade him right away for next years draft picks unless we have a franchise QB? That doesn't sound like a good TEAM build strategy.

Once we finally find the QB, he won't have any decent players around him.

Just glad you not the GM Ronhex.
