Scraps saying that trade was just to good to pass up.

If we had gotten Detroits 2nd and not given up ours it would have been.

Agreed.

If Cine turns out as good or better than Hamilton then good trade. If he doesn't not so good. Reading comments from Georgia fans they say he's fast and hit's hard, but he can't cover his junk with a fig leaf.

So you're saying he has large hands.

LMAO I knew that comment would get some reactions. It's a metaphor meaning he doesn't have good coverage skills.

I just don't get it. Going from 12 which we haven't picked that high for a while all the way down to 32???
Then let Detroit take the best receiver in the draft!!
All for the second best safety??
And we didn't keep our second round pick
I was excited about the draft not anymore

I like the pick and the trade. I'm not deciding if it was good or bad based on some antiquated chart or the freshest new chart. I remember Kwesi saying he had to help devise a trade value chart in one of his previous gigs, so my guess is he has a pretty good idea of what he's comfortable with as a rough guide. But those picks are now/will be prospects, and those prospects will play (or not) and have outcomes to assess. People hated the trade before they even know which players will be drafted in those spots.

I loved a few players that were there for the taking, and I sort of hate Williams going to Detroit, but I'm looking forward to watching Cine crush him as well.

Let things play out. Let Kwesi, KOC, and the rest work their plan. There are clearly at least two time horizons they're geared toward: this season, when they have a mandate to be competitive for a playoff spot, and 1-3 years down the road, when they will have had time to reset the roster. Vikings football doesn't end this season, though for many of you it seemed to have ended a little after 8pm tonight.

I don't care what trade chart you use...I doubt any team has moved up that far for cheaper.

It's easy to wait and see.

That Scraps couldn't pass up that terrible value is telling. Could have come out swinging but bunted foul with 2 strikes.

That's not the telling thing, though; it's the value and effectiveness of the players you end up with. Still, some charts had him winning, some losing.

How do you know it's terrible value?

In coverage, Cine demonstrates incredible click-and-close ability. He covers ground with insane athletic ability, arriving on the scene to make a play on the ball or man. Cine changes direction well, allowing him to stay close to his opponent in man coverage. Furthermore, he has the long speed to stay with some of the fastest WRs. He also showcases intelligence in zone coverage, recognizing routes that intersect his zone.

Can we convert him to CB?

As a fan, I hate watching my team trade away its top pick. What they got in exchange for the 12th and 46th pick was marginal and could work out, but I'm not entirely enamored with the guy they drafted at 32. Right now, at best, I'd give them a C- for their antics in the opening round. I like the idea of a safety. I'm not in love with the guy they drafted.

The bottom line is, the Vikings have three of the next 45 picks. Could they stun the fan base and select Malik Willis at No. 34?

I like the Cincy QB better and we prob could get him later in the 2nd by trading with Seattle for their two picks.

I don't think they are drafting either, but I prefer Willis to Ridder.

How about we trade our pick to to either the Bears or Packers for a 6th or 7th rounder so they don't feel left out and Spielman would be more proud of Kwesi than he already is.

At least we'll get to see the guy we could have drafted twice a year. Hope Cine can cover Williams and is a better player.

I think I might be even more disappointed this morning than I was last night.

I really wanted to give this collaborative regime plenty chances to prove themselves before I rush to judgment, but...., I have to say, outside of hiring a younger offensive coach, every decision they have made this off season has been the complete opposite of what I was wishing for.

Are there any old expensive veterans we can still sign? Seems to be our new MO

It has been disappointing. I got excited for Harbough...didn't get him. J wanted to move on from Cousins...didn't. I dreampt of Hamilton falling and he did...we passed. And I will never be convinced it was a good trade. No matter how the players pan out. I'd be willing to bet no team has taken less to drop that far.

So, proof doesn't matter because your dreams and feelings trump all? It doesn't matter if you'd bet about the drop; what matters at this point is what happened and whether the value of the players we end up exceeds the value of picking someone at 12, or taking a different deal.

Kwesi took the deal that was available, passing on a couple of players a lot of us like, and he'll take players and/or make deals today, and in two or three years we'll have some answers, though maybe before. Everyone thinks they're smarter than Kwesi, and maybe they are, but you didn't get to make the decision and he had to make the decision. He had a process, made a decision, and now we'll see.

If you want to give up on him and the players the Vikings pick, go ahead. But many of you would be bitching no matter what was done, especially if there's some complexity to assessing the outcome.

Was that deal available? Do you think Kwesi et al simply don't understand anything, but you do?

And, BTW, we did get those picks.

NFL.COM give the Lions an A- and the Vikes an A for the 1st round.

I don't know the kid but he was on the top defense....I guess I can't say the same for Hamilton but I would have loved Davis.

The deal should have been available to a good negotiator. Someone has to win. We obviously weren't willing to walk away if we didn't get thecright price. We got worked.
