Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
Deshaun Watson gets a fully guaranteed 5 year $230M contract. That is $80M more than the previous record for fully guaranteed money at signing ($150M). This deal was negotiated by David Mulugheta of Athletes First.

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter
Texans traded up with the Browns in the 2017 Draft to select Deshaun Watson 12th overall. Now it comes full circle.

Source says Adam Thielen, who was on books for nonguaranteed $12.045M in 2022, to make guaranteed $14.4M in 2022, including $9M signing bonus. To have $18M total guaranteed in remaining years of his contract & void year was added in 2025 to spread out money on his signing bonus.

Rick Sosa@sosarick
All @KirkCousins8, @athielen19 and @HarriSmith22 have redone their contracts and as a result the Vikings have received some much needed cap space.. that ladies and gentlemen is called true leadership #Vikings

Restructure of Thielen and Hunter situation will create space. C/Cb/OLB

Cap space when? This year, when we'll likely be treading water and will have to pay back that cap space later? Oh, yey for us.

"C/Cb/OLB"... what does that nonsense even mean?

They already have cap space. They haven't announced Thielen's restructure and if they keep Hunter they move his to a Signing Bonus.

You are the typical poster that gets pissed off first few days of FA. Roster is 90 so there will be the 3rd stringers signed early. As a military man isn't patience a virtue?

Hunters situation cap wise will be settled by Sunday.....Center (Bates, Tretter), CB (Peterson, etc.) , OLB (Za Smith, Barr, etc.) are all still all in play.

The cap situation was worse last year and they created 20 million in cap space. They can easily create 40 million this year and already have created over 20 million. (Created 16 in Cousins restructure, 6 roster to signing for Smith, Thielen details aren't out and Hunters roster to signing would create 16).

What are you, the MV front office publicist? Credit card companies must love you!

You just have to hold on until a rich relative dies.

watson has a smart agent....

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
More details: Deshaun Watson gets a $45 million signing bonus. His base salary this season is $1 million, so any suspension -- if there is one -- would cost him juts $55,555 per game lost.

Stupid. He's clearly a candidate to perpetrate again, if there isn't something else looming out there already beyond 22 separate women accusing him of sexual assault. Fully guaranteed, so if he's in prison he's still on their cap.

I agree that it's stupid.

It's also a little gross. This is the poster for elevating someone to extraordinary worth bc of fluke athletic skill even though what they can control...the person they become is distasteful to say the least.

Definitely the bigger point. He has been rewarded, and suffered nothing substantial, amidst 22 women saying he sexually assaulted them. Made a measured decision not to go to Cleveland, but changed his mind because he clearly measured his decision in dollars.

And I think you're right about possible behaviors going forward.

This guy is a good looking mega rich super star athlete. Could hang in lots of places and score easily. Or pay for the most desirable escorts. But he doesn't want easy. The non happy ending providing professional massage providers that aren't looking for anything...scoring with them gets him going. Probably had some moderate success but obviously pushed the boundaries of the law and decency 22 or more times.

I would fall short of calling him a rapist, maybe even a criminal. Call him something between a deviant and a predator.

Not something you just turn off.

Just glad we didn't go all in on him....

the guy is literally a sexual predator and I really hope the 22 women force him to go to court (separately would be great) and the ugly shit he did comes out on a national stage, creating a huge backlash against him and the Browns...

And I hope he doesn't receive his suspensions until 2023 if he really would only lose $55k/game next year...

Correct me if I'm wrong ... but its probably about having the highest cap numbers, not leadership. None of them are getting paid less to restructure (Thielen Cousins are getting paid more this year, Smith is getting the same).

Interesting hearing a local radio station (in Wisconsin), and every single caller was in favor of what the Packers did in regards to trading Adams.

They discussed whether the Pack should get a veteran WR, or draft some WRs, not mentioning doing both as a possibility. Then, whether they should stay pat, or if there were a Chase or Jefferson to trade up for, which they don't think there is.

I am happy the Pack traded Adams, I think it lessens their chances of winning a SB, even though they point out the Puke are 7-0 in regular season games without Adams.

I wish the Vikes could have plucked Rasul Douglas from them.

Like a suited 5-6 on a same suit 2-3-4 flop?

Could you imagine if the Pack had traded Rodgers to Denver (getting what Seattle got), and traded Adams to the Raiders. Had Love shown a little potential, the Pack would have made quite a haul.

Will Adams disappear in Oakland like Moss ?

I wondered if Moss was doing marijuana while in Oakland. Adams should be able to get some good weed in Vegas.

Pretty good QB. Only a couple of other options in Waller and Renfroe. Will get plenty of targets.

Here's the irony: The Browns wanted an "adult" at QB, so they acquired a new Face of the Franchise who faces 22 civil suits from women accusing him of everything from sexual misconduct to sexual assault.

Maybe mayfield is a bit of a diva, but the only thing he needed massaged was his ego.

WR Bryan Edwards also on that team. Loaded group

Adams will still get his 90+ catches.
