The best two teams still playing are both in the NFC in Philadelphia and San Francisco. HANDS DOWN!

If I were a betting man, I'd be laying money on Philly to win it all. They look like the complete package to me.

Take a look at where they used their positional salary cap allotment. They had $64 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in dead cap this year and still put together a championship caliber team.

QB: $5 million (2.5 of that is Gardner Minshew for crying out loud)
RB: $5.3 million (got 1269 yards and 11 TDs out of Miles Sanders, got another 7 TDs between Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott)
WR: $13 million AJ Brown 1496 yards 11 TDs, Davonta Smith 1196 yards 7 TDs
TE: $5.2 million Dallas Goedert 700 yards 3 TDs
O-Line: $27 million

D-Line: $44 million!
Corners: $16 million

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

MN by comparison

QB: $33 million
RB: $14.6 million
WR: $20 million
TE: $4 million
O-Line: $23 million

D-Line: $18.5 million
Corners: $8 million

EDIT - accidentally jumped to 2023 for some of the numbers. Now fixed.

Slightly different numbers: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/breakdown/2022/ but a glaring difference at LB:

Phil LB: $8.6 million
Minn LB: $35.6 million

Comical to look at a couple of positions in 2023, both 3rd highest:

LB: $52 million!
RB: $20 million

DB is about average at $32 million with Harrison gobbling up 2/3rds of that.

Note players like Hunter and Z Smith are counted twice (edge and LB).

We definitely over spent, primarily on Kendricks, but some of the DL/LB comparision is skewed when some teams are 3/4 and others are 4/3. They should probably break out edge into its own category to make the comparison more fair. Hunter who should be a DE if the DC wasn't a dunce, was in the LB total for us. We had 8 LB's listed and Philly had 5.

But then you'd need edge plus DL or edge plus LB... let them know. But you CAN mix and match with rudimentary math.

Anyway, 2022 is yesterday's news but was just adding to what David F. posted.

The Cousin's curse continues:

https://share.newsbreak.com/2vopbbfz

Barstool Sports dug up one of the oddest stats you'll ever see: no team in NFL history has lost to Kirk Cousins and went on to play in the Super Bowl. They've dubbed it "The Cousins Curse."

Fun fact related to our earlier discussion with positional salary cap:

Because San Fran and Philly play each other, the 2022 season is guaranteed to have a QB on his rookie deal as a participant. This makes all the seasons since 2012 except 2016 that have a QB on his rookie deal as a starter in the Super Bowl.

Start drafting and NEVER give a "good" QB a god-tier contact.

Your first post included a link that brought me to 2022 salaries. I missed the fact that your 2nd post switched the year to 2023. In either case, neither year showed Hunter and Z as D Line.

The Cowboys were more in tune with their game planning when Rush was in the game. With Prescott they don't seem to have the same attention to detail. If they use similar game plans with Prescott as they did with Rush they would be a more effective team, playing complimentary football. With that philosophy, they'd be 1 win away from getting to the SB.

Amazing what happens when you hit on a rookie QB.

Indeed. Seattle had their time with Russ on the rookie deal. The 49ers will have their time in the sun for a couple of seasons. The Chargers must be wondering how they're not winning with Herbert on his rookie deal.

The Eagles coaching staff deserves loads of credit. Sirianni realized half way through last season that he needed to work a college style offense where Hurts could be a dual threat.

Eagles better get the super bowl this year. Hurts takes a ton of hits so he may be getting hurt a lot. Hopefully for his sake he will learn to slide and live to fight another down. It'll be interesting to see how he looks against the Niners D.
