Kwesi has a PHD in bullshit

i think that spielman spoke around issues better than kwesi...while he adds a lot of unnecessary gibberish, one can understand the situation better....

the vikes don't want to go with a one-year extension....

when asked about our linebackers; kwesi ran on about asamoah, dye, and kwenkeu but never mentioned kendricks or hicks....gone....

I was listening to Reggie Wilson (w/ Sam Ekstrom & Luke Inman) and he disagrees with the take that they are gone and Kwesi was talking more that Hicks and Kendricks were in place and the others were there to be able to "step up" - not an "intentional omission"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCgMrwbslf4 -- see 10:40

we shall see....

i can see us cutting kendricks and thielen and then offering them a 1-yr deal at $4mm....

hicks is gone....

This is what makes me nervous, reworking contracts to keep the 13-5 band together. Exactly what foundation was put down to augment and build upon?

We were the third best team in our division at playoff time and one of the worst in the playoffs. That includes our wildly up and down offense, not just the lousy defense (although mostly).

No tweaking with Thielen, Harry, Cook, Hicks, Ham. I will be greatly discouraged if we simply shuffle their peas under different shells.

Its not just the money ... show some confidence in your ability and stop leaning on Spielman.

The offense was mostly awesome but they did have a tendencay to go three-and-out a lot and often when we least could afford it.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

My problem is they would go dormant for long stretches of each game necessitating another epic comeback.

I loved the comebacks. I loved that for most games we were always still in it. Biggest comeback ever, never say die etc etc. but they also put themselves in situations nearly every week where they HAD to comeback, epically, to win.

I want them to keep the attitude that the game isn't over and keep playing hard until they win...but I would rather we dominate some opponents, take big early leads and hold them down all game. Only getting the comeback on the rare occasion that we need it.

Including against some pretty bad defenses. If we had played the Vikings, we would have had to come from behind in a one score game!

So how good is our offense, really?

For starters ... by golly, gee, gosh durn and zowie are not going to stir up any blood lust in our troops ...

Imagine coming off the field against the Giants on 4th down after a savage, year-long campaign of spilling your guts ... and hearing 'oopsie' from your perfectly coiffed and starchy leader.

Please.

Mostly awesome? LOL, says the guy who labeled the Special Teams (epic/glorious/all-world... I forget the term!).

26th in ypc was to me a fundamental problem.

Points scored against playoff teams: 7 Philly, 3 Dallas, 24 Miami, 33 Buffalo, 27/24 Giants, with Cousins crapping the bed to close the season.

This was prevalent most of the season. Some games the offense would do nothing for two qtrs. This was how bad teams were able to hang with us. Or, were a bad team as well.

Not sure who to point the finger at for these dormant stretches:

a. Lack of a consistent rushing game
b. Play calling
c. Bad IOL
d. Cousins
e. All of the above.

A good pick for the iol would greatly increase our rush game, so that would take care of itself. Whether we do that in the draft or free agency. There are several guys available in the draft that would be an improvement to what we currently have. We just have to find a way to get that done come draft day.

I would like us to spend about $15mm/yr for two iol's...a center and right guard, let ingram and Cleveland battle for left guard, or make Cleveland back up super sub...and do not resign Bradbury....

backload deals to control 2023 cap hits....

At this point, I’m assuming clean easy cuts (‘smaller’ dead money) like Hicks, Ham … the stickier but more beneficial cuts like Zad, Kendricks, Cook … and the very painful $$$ but necessary cuts like Thielen, Harry are not going to happen …

we are probably trying to work out deals to soften these players contractual burdens … in keeping with our very soft, pillow-top, all-inclusive approach.

Tough negotiations leading up to the start of the league year? No … just one big hug.

Kendricks released

From OverTheCap:

The release will create $9.5 million in cap & cash savings for the team as free agency is one week away. The Vikings now are estimated with $15 million over the cap heading towards the league year. Additional roster moves or restructures will be needed for the team to cap compliant by March 15.

Kendricks dead cap is only $1.9 million. Peanuts compared to the other usual suspects. Keep the dead cap in 2023 to kind of concentrate the pain.

Keeping Ham on last season for 182 snaps at 3.5ml made little sense

Sure, Hicks and Ham are part of the equation. But wow, their contracts are nothing compared to Thielen and Harrison Smith.

Maybe it's just one or two people continually yapping about Hicks and Ham.

Barring any unlikely trades, cut 'em all. Thielen, anyone named Smith, Cook, Hicks & Ham, Tomlinson. Take the dead cap hits this year. Don't resign PP, Badbury, or anyone from last year's roster except maybe Mattison and do sign Shelley.

The Theilen and H Smith contracts are just absurd. Spielman was an idiot.

I see both staying at just above their cut savings.

The axe man cometh..

I’m all in on ending cap hell by eating dead 2023 2024 money.. we ain’t doing shit anyway as long as our Quarterback remains Kirk Cousins..

The Kirk Stan’s can believe whatever they want.. but you know who DIDN’T get converted to Jesus and baptized, while wearing a purple sequined, ass hanging out, thong?

The guy who knows cousins is a mistake at QB, just like Favrey was…
