This would likely eliminate the only real potential trade partner for Cousins:

The Jets and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a conversation Monday, sources with knowledge of the discussion but not authorized to speak publicly confirmed to The Athletic. Here’s what you need to know:

• Rodgers, 39, still hasn’t made a decision about his future in the NFL.

• The Packers have given Rodgers permission to speak with the Jets, according to a report from the NFL Network, since Rodgers is still under contract with the Packers.

• The Jets hired former Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator in January. Hackett coached Rodgers in his most recent MVP seasons.

When I think of Rodgers leaving the NFC North my initial feeling is one of 'good riddance'. The more I think it over though I start to wish he stays. The dude is getting worse, getting older, and the GB fans are starting to dislike him. In that vein I say keep starting him for many more seasons.

If they trade him to the Jets they will likely get this year's first and next year's first. This year's first is the #13 pick and Green Bay already has #15. If they package those two picks and throw in a high pick from 2024 they could likely have their pick of the QBs for this year and they'd have Jordan Love to start in 2023 while their top QB prospect develops. If either Love or the guy they pick in the draft turns out to be good then they're set at QB, yet again, for years.

I'd rather they keep Rodgers and let that mess play out as he crosses into age 40.

I feel similarly. His last three passes as a Packer were not even close what we grew to dread over the years.

But I kinda of enjoyed the latest of Rogers personality which I could not stand for almost all of his career. I get a chuckle over he may have microdosed some mushrooms to enhance his play.

Either way, we should be ok

The axe man cometh..

I’m all in on ending cap hell by eating dead 2023 2024 money.. we ain’t doing shit anyway as long as our Quarterback remains Kirk Cousins..

The Kirk Stan’s can believe whatever they want.. but you know who DIDN’T get converted to Jesus and baptized, while wearing a purple sequined, ass hanging out, thong?

The guy who knows cousins is a mistake at QB, just like Favrey was…

What did Carr just get paid? ($38million/year) Regular Season Record 23-56

63-79

Here's a PTI segment on Carr if you're interested - 2:49

https://twitter.com/PTI/status/1632871176166084608?s=20

The guys on nfl radio tonight said that if you look at the guaranteed money, carr’s deal will play out like a 3 year 100 mil contract so about 33 per year. The 50 million in year 4 doesn’t have a single penny guaranteed so the likelihood of that ever getting paid is slim to none.

So would you be fine with 3/100 contract for Kirk?

If Burns jumped off a bridge, would you?

Who is Burns and what does he or a bridge have to do with a 3/100 contract?

I'm saying if another team makes a poor decision, you don't have to do the same.

I would not be happy if the Vikings gave Carr or Cousins that deal.

(And you know exactly who Burns is...)

What happened to Burns? And what happened to the covid forum in the politics area that he often posted in? It was one of the livelier topics for many months.

stick a fork in the Giants for a lot of years.

That was a smart move by the Ravens IMO.

Jones should split his signing bonus with Donashell

OK. Fine.

I'd rather have Carr or Cousins at 30M than Jones at 40.

15 TD passes in 16 games last year.

When not facing the Vikings in the Playoffs, he responded with 15/27, 135 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT. 6 Rushes, 24 yards, 1 Fumble.

Have the details of the contract come out? I haven't been able to find any details such as the guarantee amounts.

The NY Giants sure do love their mediocre white QBs I guess.

Yep. Jones is not worth remotely close to what he is getting.

Sad part is, actual good QBs are now going to cost exponentially more.

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
It's going to be a 4-year deal worth $160M, sources say, with $35M more in upside. They are finalizing.

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer
Giants QB Daniel Jones will take home $82 million over the first two years of his four-year, $160 million deal, per source.

-----------

The interesting thing will be how much (if any) of the money is guaranteed in years 3 and/or 4.

Mahommes 10 year deal is looking sweeter (for KC) with each QB ext handed out.

I think it's interesting with the QBs getting all this money. Without raising the cap each year to cover the costs that should leave a lot of teams in difficult situations paying everyone else. Somewhere down the line something is going to have to give

Agree. I'm surprised nothing was done to address this in the last CBA. At some point I'd think the other players will begin to lobby for some type of ceiling one player can make.

Agree. When one player takes up close to 20% of the cap, it’s going to be very tough to field a decent team.

My personal formula going forward is: qb on rookie deal and only extend if we win a super bowl during those 4 or 5 years. Even then I extend simply for taking victory laps year after year. Personally I won’t even be wearing pants anymore after a super bowl win. Prior to that though - only qbs on rookie deals.

It is such a good product that the only thing to hit their bottom line was COVID.

Every time it is said that they can't find a way to make more money (they do).

Must be an “honest” mistake in your post because Lamar has 104 TDs since 2019. Or did you mean 2020 and forward? Cherry picking stats by leaving out one of the guy’s very best year?

2nd edit - no you must have meant to include 2019 or else Lamar’s playoff record would be 1-2 instead of 1-3. These that’s are cherry picked beyond belief. And you used the word ‘honest’ to describe them? Hm.
