The approach to lose the next 34 regular season games to try and improve is inconceivable to me. I can't imagine staying fan if that's the strategy

It is weird....when you start tanking it seems you can't quit losing. I don't think Kwesi and KOC are that type; if you wanted to tank you don't hire those 2 last year.

After a 13-4 year we should have hired Les Steckel back apparently.

He's also had crap targets pretty much his entire career.

Ridiculous-level crap targets.

Main reason he has crap targets....good FA WR don't want to sign with a qb that runs for 1000 yards and hard to develop good WR when the BALT Offense is designed to run.

It is good for TEs.

Vikings threw for 1600 more passing yards than the Ravens in 2022.

Marty if you want OBJ or Chark or a good WR2....you trade for Lamar odds are bad they aren't coming.

I saw 3 different sources reporting on the Vikings possibly being one of the teams interested in LJ, so I think there is something to it.

The pricetag is probably too high, but at least your not trading JJ to get a top draft pick QB.

This tweet kind of surprised me.
I was thinking today after the little discussion re Vikings possibly getting LJ that the most likely place for him to end up is back in Balt. No one is going to meet his demands, imo. But who knows?

Dustin Baker @DustBaker

Per
@bookies, these are the odds to land Lamar Jackson:

🏈 Baltimore Ravens: +225
🏈 Tennessee Titans: +400
🏈 New England Patriots: +500
🏈 Minnesota Vikings: +550
🏈 Indianapolis Colts: +1000
🏈 New York Jets: +1400
🏈 Atlanta Falcons: +1500
🏈 The Field: +575

I tell you what would suck, having an ok team with chances but knowing your QB does not want to be there.

Phil

The odds of getting FA WR help for LJ would be totally different in Minnesota, because the KOC system would have him mostly passing, teaching him to only run when absolutely necessary, or maybe just on occasion to keep defenses honest.

It would be similar to Randall Cunningham coming to Minnesota, and almost never running, pretty much exclusively passing. I do realize with RC it was probably because he was coming back after injury, and a year away from the game, but it may have been Denny Green and Brian Billick encouraging him to focus on passing.

If the Vikings really wanted to tank next year, they would have kept Donatell at DC.

Interesting tweet:

I was listening to
@Andrew_Krammer & @BenGoessling discuss the Kirk Cousins contract situation. They mentioned the #Vikings weren't willing to guarantee '25 while the KC camp wanted that year fully guaranteed. That's the flexibility vs security part Kwesi mentioned at the combine

I don’t want LJ either…

Unproven QB who gets multiple millions of dollars β€œ guaranteed β€œ for not winning anything bigger than a first round playoff game?

Been there, done that, have alll the scars…

Screw that.

If I owned this team, cousins would be taking his β€œ guaranteed money β€œ out of town, tomorrow morning..

I don't get the pro-tanking theory either (which seems new to this board as of this of-season). There's not only the youneverknow factor, but also do you trust this team to pick the right QB? We flail in high pick OLs--Khalil, Bradbury even McKinnie--which should be the easiest position to evaluate: can you pull up trees and get in the way?

If Cousins is here for 2 more years and we don't at least make the SB I hope Kwesi enjoyed his one short lived GM gig.

Better get working on that defense, then ...

edit: I did make the wrong assumption that bc the Vikes wouldn't guarantee through '25 that'd he'd be here through '24 - silly me

You are aware there is a new front office aren't you? Really weird you'd bring up past OL picks from the Spielman era. Of course we don't know much about how Queasy will do with his picks either. Year 1 is at best an incomplete.

If you are good with an occasional playoff appearance with a quick exit, good for you. Some of us want better. The best chance to get to the top is by getting a great young QB. You generally don't get those drafting 23rd. I won't enjoy the experience of being bad, but if we come out stronger for it I'm willing to pay the price. KC isn't a superbowl QB, but he's good enough to win you 7-13 games most years. Just good enough to be stuck in the middle of mediocrity.

That being said, it's pretty clear that the Wilf's are content with being competitive. We'll see if Queasy and KOC are content with that or are brave enough to really blow it up like CHI did.

We would have beat the Giants in round 1 with LamJack.

All we know about Chicago is that they tanked the 2022 season.

Really? We would have miraculously played better defense if Jackson had been our QB?

No the coin flip would have gone differently. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller dedicated a large part of their show to our game in the week leading up. Pointed out the D that NY would use the most because it was the one they had the most success with ion 12/24. They said that to beat that D your qb has to be willing to run a few draws and said there’s no way cousins would do that.

Does that just assume Cousins would accept a trade? Does he have a no trade?

I assume the cap situation would require moving him, or would Lamar take pennies the first year and back end the hell out of it.

Plus +550 will get you a pretty decent return if you believe it.

They can backload the contract. Clev did it with Watson so he wouldn't lose a bunch of money with the suspension.

But with the recent void years/salary converted on the Cousins restructure doesn't signal moving on from him now.
