Josh Allen is the team's leading rusher on the season, crazy.

He's not doing too well passing in the second half. Throwing fastballs from 10 yards away, back foot throws leading to a pick(s).

Defense finally played a good game. Lots of pressure and mostly solid tackling all the way around. AZ offense is not bad and they played a bit desperate.

Offense is an issue because Cousins is Cousins. That will be what ultimately kills the 2022 Vikings.

I'm thoroughly convinced all that needs to happen is one ass-beating of an opponent for all of you to get REALLY excited about this Vikings team.

Until then, it's a bunch of cautious optimism. lol

i think that our experience playing against hurts, fields, and murray is going to help us to contain allen in the bills game....

The Vikes are 6-1; I said the same about Case.

KJ coming right at ya for the TD.

https://twitter.com/nacholeber/status/1586809987333955585?s=20&t=4Kp06oJNYJqy4odnu96MqA

I get it it isnt JJ and one naturally feels like he deserves his touchdowns, but we are 6-1, just scored 34, and JJ played a huge part in this game with 98 yards.

Despite the last two 3/outs, that were buzz kills for sure, ya gotta think there is a chance to get much better. Come on, one time.

My $0.02:

Always happy with a win!

D-Hop made a number of nice catches. I would have liked to see a little more coverage rolled over to help him, but Dantzler played pretty good and those are great learning experiences.

We need some better plays to beat the blitz. Too many time they came with pressure and we didn't have an answer. And it is no secret that AZ likes to blitz.

Good game for the ground game.

PPeterson was a stud.

Great stop on that 4th down play late.

Kicker. WTF?!

Refs were brutal.

The TD to Mundt was a play I have been screaming for us to run effectively for years!

Defense seems to be coming into their own more. Playing more as a unit and getting some good pressure with the front.

Cousins was solid.

Good win!

As much as everyone wants to blame Kirk; I was watching Thielen and he looks injured. He still made plays but I think that is a problem.

Need to game plan more KJ, Reagor, and Irv. Especially KJ; the other 2 are not as dependable.

Other musings:

The Puke. LMAO! Love seeing them lose.

And what's up with their player hitting people on the sidelines? He think he plays for MSU?!

BUF is solid but the offense is very reliant on Allen making the plash play. And the playcalling was brutal. They should have been up by 30 late in that game.

They are too cocky; to beat the Packers you throw to the TE and use RB....Bills went at GB strength and had 2 Ints.

Buffalo was moving the ball early when mixing in the RBs but then they decided to quit doing that.

Why bother, your one dimensional schtick is even more transparent than Brad’s. Just stick with ‘Cousins sucks’ and save your breath.

the D played better for the most part. They held Az to under 100 yards rushing and did well to keep Murray relatively in check, which has been a major defensive shortcoming against mobile QBs in our past. We had 4 sacks, a lot of pressures and 2 INTs which was a great plus. We still gave up 300+ yards passing in a pretty soft zone scheme which is frustrating to watch, but it was a good enough effort for the W.

Offensively we ran the ball pretty well (when not turtling) and Darrisaw was pretty great on some of those runs. Our pass protection was ok, but AZ blitzed all afternoon and we didn't seem to adjust to that well (no screens, slants, hot routes?). KFC had some good throws but was all to happy to check down quickly where if he held on a second more (or gazed a little further down field) he would've had much bigger gains to JJ or KJ. That happened quite few times. Still we scored 34 points and could've had more if not for kicking woes.

I abhorred the 2 Zimmer turtle series at the end though. Especially when we were up by only 1 score (thanks Joseph!). Two three and outs (also aided by our penalties which stopped the clock for them) made this a seat clencher as always.

Even so, we manage to keep winning, which is the anti last year. We have to beat Washington so that we could absorb a couple losses in a tough 3-4 games coming up and still keep a decent standing in the playoff hunt.

There were 3 plays were you just tip your hat.
1) The one handed TD grab
2) There were two-three sideline passes that were lasers from Murray that actually good coverage by Dantzler

There was some awful tackling but at least the defense showed well for stretches and in some important moments. For my money, even though the defense was overall spotty, their improvement made the win feel much more legitimate than our past wins. Zad has taken over that defense if not the team.

The Cards are average, they shoot themselves in the foot a lot like all the teams we’ve beat this year BUT they have some real weapons that we outplayed.

JJ is still feeling the effects of mouthing off this summer. As if 6 recs for 98 yds is an insult to his statistical ambitions. There’s a difference between demanding the ball and selfish diva-tudeness. Knock it off with the pouting.

IMO Cousins’ td scramble offset anything negative he did in the game. Great play against a maniac super athlete at the pylon … I was surprised Bubba didn’t smash him into the next zip code. I am no Cousins fan but he showed some gumption, even if it was gee golly jethro clampett gumption.

Aside from the flip pass (to Cook?) and a few other nicely designed plays, I thought the offense was called a little too conservatively / conventionally. For my taste. But thats a minor quibble since it worked on third down (50%?), in the red zone and won the game. It just felt too methodical.

A lot fun even so.

So will it seem like we are getting an additional first round pick next year? Hope he has normal motion and strength, then heals to football standards, then can start playing safety, then can play safety well.

Couldn't agree more. If we don't solve this problem it will become part of the blueprint to beat us. Ideally we would reach the point where we can make a team pay for blitzing us. Right now we just need to find a way to survive it.

@DustBaker

The Vikings 64.3% field goal conversion ranks dead last in the NFL thru 8 weeks.

Agree. The IOL has all it can handle with simply blocking opposition linemen. Throw in blitzes and forget it. I don't see any magic switches to turn on this year. The hope is Ingram gets better. I question Cleveland's lateral agility in the trenches. As a minimum, throw a mid-round pick towards a center.

There are hot reads and all that, and hopefully that stuff can get better with the (limited) practice during the season.

A mobile QB would help make the D pay, but that's for the QBOTF conversation.

They burned 4 timeouts to avoid penalties and seemed to really struggle to get plays off after dead ball situations.

Defense finally played a good game. Lots of pressure and mostly solid tackling all the way around. AZ offense is not bad and they played a bit desperate.

Offense is an issue because Cousins is Cousins. That will be what ultimately kills the 2022 Vikings.

100% agree. The two best teams in the NFC are Philly and San Francisco.........hands down. The Vikings, Cowboys, Giants, Seahawks etc... are a ways back.

Yep, I said it. San Francisco is far better than the Vikings. The pickup of McCaffrey was huge and they are going to get healthy at some point. Elite stars all over the field when healthy.

It is still early but it may be a little too early on the SF call. I watched them against KC. Philly, Buffalo, and KC are in their own class.
