It felt like during the Washington game, in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, the Vikings didn't run the ball enough, which made it tough on the guards, hence the bad grades.

I think they will need to run the ball a little more to beat Buffalo.

Or throw up the middle to TJ...

Bills have a starting Corner coming back and Milano most likely playing....their defense was missing a couple of players against the Jets.

I think Diggs is a very difficult match up for us

PP doesn't switch sides so the bills can choose who they want Diggs to face

Older vet or talented rookie...I don't like either spot

While the Bills game gives the Vikings a chance to prove they're legit, the Vikings may just be happy to compete in the game:

Theilen says:

"It's important to play the best and play well against the best," Thielen said Monday. "We're also not going to treat this as the Super Bowl. It's not win or go home, but at the same time, each game in this league each week is a big game."

He is calling them "the best", which is good that he is respecting the Bills, but he doesn't follow it up with anything like, to be the best, or to be the man you have to beat the man.

This is pretty good. Kirk explains the intricacies of the "Play Action Pass" and what goes into each play for him

In the past, when the Packers were playing a good team, the ideal scenario to me, was, if that good team played really well 2 weeks before playing them, and then lost a close game the week before, so that team was pissed.

Unfortunately, that is what we have here. Buffalo played very well 2 weeks ago, is coming off a close loss, and you're playing them in Buffalo. This is not good.

I don't want to come down. I want coach to be on point leading us to the next level. We might be on a great win streak but we haven't gotten hot. Let's get hot. Do all the good things we've been doing but do that we can be better thing.

I do think we're the kind of gelled team that can win a championship.

Let's go!!!

Let's keep winning, but I don't want us to start catching fire

on all cylinders until the last 3-4 weeks of the season. Let's go

into the playoffs HOT!

Seems we are on a slow but definite progression to becoming one of the top echelon teams. Where all parts contribute to the whole. Amazing considering it's KOC's first year. After so many years, it's hard to believe.

Hockenson: Justin Jefferson helps. "I haven't been [defended] like that in a while. The way the defense kind of sat in two-high [safeties] and put a backer or nickel on me and was like 'here you go.' It was kind of nice to see, honestly."

The bandwagon seems to be getting a little more crowded, but there's still room. All are welcome.

I saw the stat years ago, not sure how to dig it up.

With a 2 game road stretch, NFL teams had something like a 44% chance of winning the 1st game, and about a 34% of winning the 2nd one.

I wish Buffalo had been the first opponent.

I was, fortunately, part of a lot of winning teams in my NFL front office years, and I can tell you it definitely is much more fun to come to work or hop on the plane ride home — for everyone connected with the team — when you’re on a roll, especially a playoff run. I’ll always remember our Vikings team knocking off top-seeded San Francisco and Joe Montana in 1987, and everyone on that flight home was on Cloud Nine — the same thing happened with our playoff run in Tennessee in 1999 after beating Jacksonville in the AFC Title game. --- Jeff Diamond, former Vikings GM

In both of those instances, the teams lost the following week. Let's hope that isn't true with Kirk and his chains.

Maybe another ex-Viking QB (Bridgewater and Heinicke, and now Keenum) will once again do not enough for his team to win. But I think Josh Allen will play.

Doesn't feel like 7-1 with a huge game coming up by the pulse in here. I guess with only like 10 people left here with the majority being baseball fans or mostly into politics that's what you get.

Sad.

Agreed.

- That should give us a better gauge as to where we are at.
- We need a team that has been forged in fire, not propped up by beating also-rans and 2nd/3rd string QBs.
- Any strong competitive player and coach no doubt wants that too. Could never imagine Jordan or Kobe even entertaining the thought of hoping the other team's best player is out.

There are more than 10 people left here..

Most of our board won’t post opinions because of the toxic response of a minority to opinions that do not fit the most toxic of poster agenda.

Randy Moss.. loved him, but his personality was divisive.

Adrian Peterson, same

Brad Childress, same,

Mike Zimmer, same.

Mike Tice, same.

Kirk Cousins, same.

After a while, getting beat down mercilessly affects everyone, except the Phil’s, Matt’s, and Marty’s of the board.

Some unlike you and me, are delicate snowflakes with fragile egos that can’t fight back, so they give up.

It’s not a failure, ifs an unwillingness to be constantly on the defensive about a given topic.

I am an opinionated, unabashedly headstrong vocal poster who calls idiotic positions, idiotic.

Re: curmudgeon

I have a few people, who no longer post, who pm me on occasion, encouraging or supportive messages, because I am not afraid to mix it up with others.

This was never a huge forum..

At one time we had more posters yes, some died.

Fact

Some took thier ball and went to play on other message boards like daily Norseman..

Fact.

I only have a couple people on block..

Burnsie, for obvious reasons, and ridiculous radical Jesus boy, for my own sanity.

There are a lot of others who I disagree with, but even those people can sometimes have moments of clarity that I can agree with.

I despised Brett Favre, but I did not quit the board, like art and some others did in 2009.

If you look at who follows the game day threads, even if they don’t post, you know we are more than ten..

Plus, being logged in as guest, allows you to read along, without having any access to the non sports threads, and keeps you from having to respond to something idiotic.

We have many guests who follow our board, but chose not to step into the shark infested waters of actual comments or replying to others.

I hope he does play, and that we can find a way to limit and counter the type of player he is..

Allen, Mahomes, other athletic mobile quarterbacks, expose weak defenses..

I want this team to be able to face, counter and adjust to any kind of offense, competitively, or we are just pretenders.

Any given Sunday is fine, but being dominate and finding ways to BE dominate, are more my style and desire.

Sigh. You've expressed this several times. I envy your buoyancy ... but I am still tagging along hoping for much better.

Does it matter if you drink your rare premium single malt scotch with a big splash of water and a straw? Yes.

Standards matter. (there are other examples but nothing more sinister)

The games have been fun. The season has been fun. Fortunately for us, our Boones Farm Fuzzy Navel opponents have been watered down to our QB's and our team's level.

Have we deserved every win? Sure.

We all are going to cheer on this team regardless. Does cheering on a decent team bring about the same level of enjoyment as cheering on a real good team? No, how could it? Maybe after, when you see in retrospect that all you had was a decent team and the process was fun given all you had was a decent team.

Right now, I'm still hoping for much better. Allen needs to play and play well. We simply can't get to real good playing mediocre teams or decent teams with back-up QBs.

Allen's injury looking like it might a bit of a ruse

https://www.si.com/fannation/bringmethesports/vikings/vikings-bills-5-things-you-can-count-on

Allen was practicing Friday and quickly ran off the field when the media entered
