Can't remember being less enthusiastic after a "big" win.

So Gobert punches a teammate (on the chest lol). McDaniels is like "Hold my beer."

What a clown show. Works for me!

Wolves win, marred by two boneheaded off court incidents. This is the wolfiest thing that ever wolfed.

Timberwolves have sent Rudy Gobert home after Gobert threw punch at teammate Kyle Anderson during a timeout huddle, per sources. He is out for remainder of game.

Gobert is done for the year. Could be done with the Wolves. IMO!

He’s already apologized to the team and everyone looks ready to move on.

Kyle Anderson on if he'll be able to move forward with Rudy Gobert: “Ah, yeah. It is what it is, and move forward. We want to win games. It is what it is. It ain’t the first time someone has swung on me. It is what it is. We keep it in house.”

Woj:

ESPN Sources: Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert escalated a verbal argument to a physical encounter after Kyle Anderson told him to “Shut the f--- up, bitch.” The disagreement started with Anderson telling Gobert to block some shots, Gobert telling him to grab a rebound – and ended with a punch and Gobert getting sent home.

Gobert later sent an apologetic text to teammates in a group chat, per Mike Conley. “We'll speak about it and move on,” he said. “We're grown men.”

Correct me if I'm wrong, which I often am; wasn't one of the reasons for going out and getting Gobert his leadership skills? My God, as volatile as Kevin Garnett was, he was smart enough to punch his teammates during practice instead of during a game. I'm really disappointed in Gobert. I'm really disappointed that McDaniels is out. In his case at least it was a young player losing his cool for a minute. Rudy should know better.

How many first round picks do you think Gobert is worth at this moment? They can't trade him, because they would probably only get 1 or 2 first rouners and it would make the management team the laughing stock of all professional sports.

A couple of college kids could run this franchise better and I am not joking. Pure luck of a dart board draft would have yielded a better roster the past 30 years.

Weird how some woman was holding Gobert's right wrist during the argument.

Saw a blurb on the ESPN ticker saying something about there may have been another reason McD broke his hand. Don't know what they are getting at.

I thought Conley was the sage/steady hand.

No matter, they could still advance far in the playoffs.

At this point I just want to make the Playoffs so there is no chance we send Wembanyama to the Jazz.

Gobert will serve a one-game suspension and is expected to return if the Wolves lose to the Lakers and play another play-in game, or advance into the Western Conference playoffs, sources said.

This is a team-imposed suspension, not a league thing. The Wolves reviewed the situation and had discussions last night and this morning before making the decision.

Was Gobert hobbling around or something during the part of the game he played in? Maybe not 100%? If so, perhaps that could have factored into the team decision (i.e. rest him but come across as doing the 'right' thing).

Surprising nonetheless IMO. Also maybe the league was going to suspend him one game and gave the team the chance to do it instead.

What was it Charles Barkley said about this team?

100%. He never should've played in that game as he was suffering badly from back spasms and it was the 2nd game of a back-to-back. Anderson was the one who really pushed him to play on the back-to-back and then got on him all game.

And considering how rough Gobert looked yesterday, I think this "suspension" be a way of giving him extra time to rest and heal his back.

Wolves were basically in a no-win situation for tomorrow. Play Gobert and he likely struggles and maybe aggravates things more. Or sit him with injury and then he gets the "soft" label for not "manning up" and playing in a vital game.

The suspension gives Rudy some very much needed time off, it makes us look strict on incidents and it lets the team reset a bit.

Huh. Funny how Joe Mauer could never sit out a game without his toughness being questioned.

Canis comment:

Listened to Dane’s podcast. He said that Rudy tweaked his back in Saturday’s game then it locked up on the plane ride home. Also that an hour before tipoff Rudy could barely put his shorts on.

Ah, back spasms. And reading below, his back locking up may have sealed the deal WRT the suspension. WRT Anderson, too bad Gobert didn't clock him.

I think it sucks when players acquired via trade are judged based on what the front office gave up.
