How did everybody like Rockhead pinch hitting Max Kepler and his .191 average for Royce Lewis who was 8 for last 11? It worked out because Kepler did draw a walk, but does anybody think it is a smart move?

Ted Williams had a lifetime .344 average, so he is just trade bait in today's game where you can strikeout every 2.5 at-bats and still be on the All Star Ballot.

Joey Gallo has struck out 63 times in 48 games. Williams only struck out 63 times once, and it was his first season when he struck out 64 times in 149 games.

Drawing a veiled parall between Arraez and Ted Williams has just taken this argument to the dumbest extreme possible.

He still won't answer how many Twins games he saw last year or this year.

and NOBODY...and I really mean NOBODY...has ever compared Joey Gallo to Ted Williams.

Gallo strikes out a lot....which is why I compared him with Miguel Sano. I just thought of him as a left handed version of the same guy...but Gallo does draw walks and can play defense, unlike Sano.

I'm not sure any move Rockhead makes could be considered smart. He gets lucky sometimes, doesn't make it smart.

They at least aren't batting Gallo in the 3 or 4 spot. Leadoff or 7/8.

Interesting take on Louie Varland:

Great call out. Ryan wasn't as drastic (1.2 HR/9) but all the way down to 0.7 HR/9 this season.

Said it before but Joe Ryan made this adjustment from 2022 to 2023. Different arm angles of course but if he can make this adjustment than he’s going to be a quality mid-rotation arm.

Ted
@tlschwerz
Among pitchers that have thrown at least 50 innings, only 7 have given up a higher HR/9 than the #MNTwins Louie Varland

Only #Dodgers Julio Urias and #BlueJays Yusei Kikuchi have lower ERA's.

If he can keep the ball in the yard even slightly more, that's a great #3 starter.

Kepler for Lewis
Another iPad stupid that works out

Ted Williams/
Gallo

Oof
Arraez 1 for last 17

Gallo like without the ks

Buxton for Larnach seems like a downgrade

At some point I won’t be surprised if the twins cut bait with Gallo and give Larnach the at bats

I also won’t be surprised if they keep him with a the hope he gives them 20-25 homers with all that empty in between
Kepler has more lives than a cat

Maeda threw 4 SO innings in his last start in St. Paul. They want him to make one more with a full game pitch count. If he bounces back from that, Maeda and Varland will switch places.

There are some guys doing well at St. Paul I would like to see get some run up here. Wallner especially comes to mind. Miranda pulled out of his tailspin awhile back and has settled into a good groove. I'm not sure how I feel about Larnach. When he was first on the horizon, I thought his baseline would be around a .270 average and 20+ HR. At 658 AB there is still time to put it together, but he is clearly still feeble against major league breaking pitches. If this is going to happen, the best option is to dump Kepler and start giving Buxton some innings in the OF to free up some DH time.

At this point I would also move on from Polanco and roll with Julien.

What does it have to do with any of our arguments? Going to games = what exactly?

Not going to games; watching games.....good try. (it means you are trolling and have no vested interest if you haven't watched but 1-2 games)

Well, that's your opinion, which amounts to very little in my book.

Actually most of us can tell that you watch 0.0% of either Miami or MN games as you come here to troll Gallo.
You see he doesn't even play 1st or 2nd base except when we had the injury bug earlier in the year.
Kirilloff our 1st round pick is playing 1B and LF. Polanco and Julien (when Polanco has been injured) have been playing 2b.

If you want to troll you may want to start with the 3 players who replaced Arreaz. (Easily visible if watching games lately)

I've been watching baseball for so long that I can practically read a box score and tell you what happened. I don't need to watch every pitch of every game. Especially with these clowns.

However, as I said, I care very little about your opinions. You are entitled to them, but that's about as far as it goes for me. You aren't what I consider a safe conversation. Honesty isn't your strong point.

Definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over...

Pull the starter early, put in Bugs Moran, watch the lead disappear.

Buxton joins others that don't apparently have to do rehab at bats and can not contribute coming back.

Through 7, meh

While he struggled, Gray should have come back out for the fifth. Constantly getting pulled around 80 pitches

Apparently an animated discussion between him and the iPad king.

Moran and Pagan
Both are worthless.
Rocco is clueless about handling pitchers.
Pulled Gray too soon.
Now we need to hope Correa saves the game
