ORIGINAL: Karl Juhnke Despite their near .500 record, if the Twins do make the playoffs by virtue of weak division, I believe they have a better chance in the playoffs than in many seasons past. The reason is, they have a solid starting rotation, at least for now, though it could change. And one shut down reliever (Duran). Maybe find a couple more by season's end. (Jax? Moran? Trade?) Pitching rules in the playoffs. And the Twins are in better shape there. We shouldn't have to send an Uber driver to the mound to start at Yankee stadium this year. And in the playoffs you don't need a lot of pitching depth. You just need top guys to perform. In '87 the Twins won it with basically Viola, Bert, Reardon and to some extent El Gasolino...who had a tough world series after being great vs Detroit. Of course this also depends on Rocco tightening up the rotation and the bullpen. The manager needs to manage like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't. But Rocco will likely stick to script and manage like it's mid June. Got to save his pitchers arms so they're not sore at Thanksgiving dinner. Pulling veteran pitchers after 80 pitches or even fewer is Rocco MO. I doubt it will change. He also is convinced that the third time a batter faces the starter, the batter will automatically succeed. He should worry more about the FIRST time some of our relievers face a batter.
