Time to shop Hunter.

Agreed

Hard to believe 3 games in and no one else with a sack

I will say it again. This is the worst front 7 in football

It's the worst defensive line in the history of the Vikings. The GM who put together this defensive line should be fired. I don't want Quesy picking any more players for this team. Waiting until week 2 to get an interior offensive lineman and then having to spend draft picks to address the RB position while doing NOTHING in free agency, the draft or post draft is poor planning. He drafted a RB that isn't on the active roster, how do you manage to do that? He then had to give up a draft pick to get a back up RB because he whiffed in the draft. Zero faith in Quesy. Fire him before he makes things worse because sadly they CAN get worse.

The worst GM in the NFL

My feelings on the game

1. I love JJ, Addison is showing up big time. Loved KJ's superman impression on the TD. Mattison was running like a beast

2. That's about where the good ends. Kirk was under duress almost instantly at the snap on nearly every single drop back. It was beyond terrible.

3. Byron Murphy was abused, exposed, and used. They were picking on him almost exclusively. He was never in a position to make a play and the Coaches never changed a thing.

4. Akayleb, Young man, if the ball hits you in the hands, you need to catch it.

5. Can anyone on the Vikings cover Keenan Allen? Or Mike Williams for that matter?

6. OK. So my 9 year old daughter, who could not care less about football, could run a better two-minute drill than these guys. That was embarassing.

7. Chargers were stupid to go for it on 4th down late in the game at that position on the field. Analytics be damned, they should have forced the Vikings to drive the entire field to get the winning score with little time left and no timeouts. Hell, the way the Vikings did the Two minute drill before the half it was clear they didn't have a clue how to do that. It's only our idiocy in this two minute drill that saved their butts.

This was a team loss. The offense did not look particularly effective against the 32nd ranked defense to that point. The Defense gave up 18 catches and 215 yards to ONE GUY. Over 100 to another and put NO PRESSURE on Herbert despite blitzing more than 50%of the time.

Kirk Cousins is not the QB to carry this team to the promised land. That being said he did make a lot of good throws but was late throwing too many times and when it really mattered, in the final two minutes, he looked like a blithering idiot. any other 12 year veteran knows to get up there and spike the ball....

This season is effectively over. We should win against Carolina but the way we're playing now we wont. and the following week we will not beat the chiefs. So best case we're 1-4. May as well start shopping Hunter, Osborn, and anyone else not named JJ.

#2 is not true. I started counting one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand, three-one-thousand, etc... out loud in the stands. Sometimes I got to six-one-thousand at the sack. Pressure is going to get home on a percentage of plays for every team. Our pressure was just as good as theirs but Herbert maneuvered in the pocket like a pro. Going into yesterday's game the Vikes were #8 in the league in pressure allowed. A sack at the fifth second doesn't count as a pressure.

Maybe I heard it wrong but if not, Leber doesnt agree with you:

Cards 15-3 over Dallas. We could be top 5 in draft order by tonight!

We need to be drafting in the top 5. It's critical to the future of the Vikings. Trade Cousins even if it means not getting great returns for him because (i) he will not be here next year; (ii) we need as many draft picks as possible; (iii) he's capable of stringing together some wins and finishing around .500 would be a disaster for the future of this team; and (iv) give the rookie QB some time to see if anything more than just a guy (think I already know the answer to that, but give him a shot).

Agreed on QB Hall. Is he another Purdy, or another Spergeon Wynn.

Let's find out. If he's another Purdy we have a QB for a good while. If he's a Wynn we will be atop the draft to get our next one.

Herbert felt the pressure. He also navigated it. Dude put on a masterclass of pocket awareness. Sometimes he only moved two steps. Sometimes it was five or seven steps. All the while his eyes were downfield.

Worth noting in the aftermath of an 0-3 start for the Vikings…

Today’s game started with TJ Hockenson fumbling [fighting for yards after he had the first down aka AD] … it ended with the ball bouncing off him for a game-sealing INT

- huh

our high-priced tight end that didn't practice all summer....

Great posts Mark. I was going to say, essentially, the same thing. The guy has seriously jacked up a roster that was pretty schetchy to begin with. We had 2 really obvious problem units at the end of the year. IOL and our DL. He has managed to make one a whole lot worse and neglected the other. On top of that he managed to:

1. Our secondary got more inexperienced
2. Our LB's much faster but also way lighter and less stout
3. Singed an extension to a FB that really isn't even used in the game anymore
4. Brought in a guy with .5 sacks the year before who hasn't played more than 5 plays in 3 games for good money
5. Gave an extension to a good TE that has reset the TE market (who, btw, cost us the game yesterday)

Name one "really good" move he's made? I can see the argument for Oliver but the guy has totally blown 1, for sure, draft and FA and the other is looking "ok but not great".

Brian Flores blitzed Justin Herbert on FORTY ONE of his fifty dropbacks. Herbert finished with the highest completion percentage in league history for a QB with 45+ attempts

With the defensive line Quesy gave Flores to work with, there was no other way to get pressure so I think the stat points out a fundamental weakness with player acquisition rather than with coaching. I'm sure if Flores had studs up front, he wouldn't have blitzed as much. But, he has been given bums so he's damned if he blitzes and damned if he doesn't.

It also doesn't help that our blitzers seem to seek out blockers. Another indictement on KAM. We have no talent.

The only way I want Caleb in our division is if he’s a Viking…

by a mile..

The Bears already have 2 first round picks next year and it's seems certain that they'll take another QB. The good news is that besides Caleb, there appear to other talented QB's in the draft this year. The key for us is not to allow Quesy to make the pick.

Also, JMO but we need to curb the "trade KC's" talk. Would it be ideal, yes. Is it going to haeppen, no. KC's has a NTC clause and isn't accecpting one no matter how hard we wish it. If there's one thing that's apparent from watching him for years is that the guy likes to be comfortable and doesn't do well in chaos. His family is "home" in Mn. You think he's the type of guy that's going to uproot that, at this stage of his life, to move to NYC, with that pressure, to try and win?

I don't.

Give any coach a bunch of studs and he's going to do and look a lot better.

Case closed.

Tries to win? What does that mean? I live in Illinois near Chicago so I"m force fed Bear news and every single game is on TV. Fields is a very, very inaccurate passer and doesn't see the field well at all. His only skill is running. Cousins has his faults, that's obvious, but there is no way that any objective football observer would take Fields over Cousins at this point in time. If Fields "tries" to win, then why have the Bears lost 13 straight games?

Great QBs destroy you when you blitz. Blitzing an Aaron Rodgers usually led to bad things happening to you for example.

Herbert is no different. They make quick decisions and know where the open guy will most likely be. and they make you pay for blitzing. Yesterday he showed that.

Putting these DBs on an islands against WRs of that caliber and a very good QB is essentailly ritual suicide.

If the draft were today lol, we'd be in the top 5. Strength of Schedule of course won't be known until after the season.

Watch us beat Carolina and Chicago, two other 0-3 doormats. Cheers galore while our draft position falls.

New Orleans and the NY Jets might be interested in Kirk.

Is Kirk interested in either one of them?

He has a no trade clause...

It would be interesting if New York expressed interest and the Vikings went to Kirk for a decision. To me, the Jets have a more talented roster than the Vikings on both sides of the ball. A competitor would relish the opportunity to QB the Jets. Bur, there would be a ton of pressure in New York. Kirk doesn't like pressure. Something tells me that if he was given the choice, he'd stay in Minnesota so he wouldn't "fail" in New York. Just my opinion.

I want a QB that has mobility. but i don't want a QB because he runs really fast. He has to have OTHER QB abilities too. Like reading a defense, making accurate throws, understanding how to run a two minute drill etc etc etc. I don't want a guy like Lamar Jackson or Fields who people get all enamored with because "look how fast he is!" Same goes for WRs and RBs. Speed is nice but if they can't do all the other stuff (like catch the ball for a WR, or have good vision to find the crease and break one) then speed is useless.

I don't think Kirk is going anywhere.

It's all just fantasy. I don't think he will waive that no trade clause under any circumstances, unless the acquiring team gives him a 35 million bonus, or three year extention for ridiculous money or something which wont happen.

So we are stuck with Kirk....but we can maybe, just maybe nudge him to accept it by benching him for Hall....That might motivate a location change (also not going to happen, just thinking outrageous shit out loud)

Yeah. Byron Murphy was the most exposed and picked on DB all day. Wherever he was they tended to throw it.

and Flores did nothing to adapt.
