Marty you do this every year....there are 5-6 QBs in the draft that I would be happy with; many project us now taking the UNC QB.

Yes Phil, I try to narrow it down to 1 or 2 QBs, because all but one or 2 are likely busts.

I had Kenny Pickett 2 years ago, and he may develop into a clutch QB, but has been a little slow to develop.

This year I liked Richardson and DTR. Richardson can't seem to stay healthy, I thought he might do well in KOC's system. DTR hasn't seen the field, but did tear it up in the pre-season.

I think the Vikings have a good shot at getting Caleb Williams, if they want to take it.

I think Carolina will get Chicago the 1st pick in the draft, and I think Fields will show enough potential that Chicago will continue to build around him.

Therefore, Chicago will be once again shopping the 1st pick.

The Vikings can offer them 2 1sts and Hunter, and I would also consider throwing in O'Neill.

I would keep JJ and Darrisaw to build around Caleb, can pretty much trade Any of the rest.

I fully expect the Vikings to lose the next 2 weeks.

The Vikings will probably lose all the rest of their away games, maybe win in Denver.

The only 2 home games I see the Vikings possibly winning are New Orleans and Chicago.

So the Vikings will at the most win 3 more games, for a total of 4 wins this season. I think there is a decent chance they still lose at Denver, and lose at home to both Chicago and New Orleans, so a 2 or 3 win season is most likely.

My final answer: the Vikings will most likely finish 3-14. But I think Carolina will will be worse than that.

True but if he signs with someone else we get a comp pick; same as Kirk. Anything involving an expensive 28 or 29 year old DE probably isn't enticing for a rebuilding team.....they did have Mack and traded him.

The two things I don't understand yesterday.....Sneed holds Addison so even if it isn't pass interference it is a Def Holding and a first down plus he took his helmet off. The catch on the sideline by Watson didn't look like he got his left foot down.

Those three so-called drops by Hock were all high and had some other element with a high degree of difficulty. Hock isn't a 6' 7" gymnast, and Cousins needs to know that. Cousins was throwing high all day, IMO he is normally a better passer.

re: "saying the plays out loud" ... It's a memory technique. Say it, hear it, repeat it, repetition, etc, etc. It was a suggestion he bought into. What's crazy is what he's doing is "smart." But he looks like a geek to us, so ....

At the Iowa Field House years ago I saw a pie chart of the percentages of how much the different techniques help us remember what your memorizing. Repeating out loud and hearing it were big. Many times I wish I would have got a copy of that chart, like now.

I have no qualm with his desire to improve himself and I believe it’s a great technique. Where I’m at, is that he should be beyond that at this point. It’s year eleven or twelve for this guy. He’s still on a very basic and rudimentary level of preparation. It shows in the game when things get complicated.

Be beyond it? The way he memorizes something? Why would anyone care how he memorizes something? And you transferred that into the things you don't like about his game on the field. Are you an expert in the way people learn and how it transfers?

If the Bears can draft Caleb I think they will.

The PR hit would be the biggest ever for an NFL team.

The only way they don't take Caleb would be if Fields leads the Bears to playoffs.

Logic doesn't work for the affairs of the heart.

There is no reasoning or analysis that can get through Marty's Caleb goggles.

We are at #4. At Chicago next week. Carolina has the second highest strength of schedule in the league so far, so if we get in a tie with them after the season they are likely to fall below us in the draft. Denver is just lousy.

We are not out of the Caleb sweepstakes, but right now we are on the outside looking in. As I said a month ago the regime better be hiring a bunch of people to evaluate the collegiate QBs.

At the end of the season some might be relishing the big win over winless Carolina. The Glory Days...

2 things I would do is make Osborne #3 and Addison #2 WR.....start Cam over Mattison.

On my first day at Dairy Queen I didn’t think it would ever be possible to memorize all the minute details of the kitchen and all the machines and prep technique. After a year I could do it without a thought and could run the drive through at the same time.

I definitely agree that it's past time to draft a franchise QB in the 1st round. This defense is really, really bad, too, though. A lot of holes to fill.

Cleveland let a guy go by him early like he owed him a favor for a sack. I learned today that he was just supposed to chip him but Kirk called the slide to the wrong side so it wasn't even Cleveland's fault.

2 things I would do is make Osborne #3 and Addison #2 WR.....start Cam over Mattison.

Drop it. Addison has more targets, catches, and TDs than Osborn.

Our offense looks pretty good. We have a ton of pieces on offense. I think it's time to get serious about our QBOTF. Cousins has looked pretty decent so far, but I believe, like Dak, his regular season stats are really good and then he disappears in the playoffs. Cousins is durable, but I don't think he has the killer instinct for a Super Bowl-winning QB. I also think he panics in the biggest moments. He's not our biggest liability, for sure; but he does have an established ceiling, diminishing mobility, and a tendency to fold under pressure. That's just too many things for me to pay this guy like a top 7-8-ish QB.

This coming QB class is supposed to be pretty good, from what I've been hearing. I say we take our swing at it and fill the rest w/ defensive players and very specific offensive positions.
