Per Darren Wolfson of KSTP in the Twin Cities, tight end T.J. Hockenson has not yet had surgery to repair the torn ACL and MCL in his knee because the swelling has not yet gone down enough for the surgery to be performed. This could, potentially, have a significant impact on his status for the start of the 2024 season.

There is a possibility that he may miss the month of September.

There is also the possibility he may never be the same player again.

Not even considering the injury Kwesi got completely played by Det GM. Giving up 3 picks for the right to make Hock the highest paid TE in lue of a TE rich draft was just flat out stupid.

Also, an anti-analytics type move. Not only were the Lions on the front porch, they got inside and hacked Kwesi's code.

Nice.

I like the way you think Todd !!!

I would propose JJ and the Vikings top pick, for the Bears 1st pick, and a 3rd rounder from the Bears.

Is that about equal value ?

Better deal by about the last 1st rounder I added.

I’m leaning toward keeping JJ now. If we can find the 3rd head [RB] we’d have an unstoppable offense.

Probably not.

Do you think JJ would fetch at least two first round picks?

Certainly not this year's first rounders

Jefferson for the #1 pick?

Why not just trade him for Mahomes?

J.J. McCarthy's advanced stats look very good here. On 3rd and 7+ McCarthy ranks:

#1 in 1st down/att %
#1 in NFL PR
#2 in comp %
#2 in yard/attempt

Starting to really warm up to the idea of the #Vikings drafting him at 11. #Skol

or we could just trade him for the Baltimore Ravens....

Jefferson is a sure thing...if Chicago thinks they're all good at QB, then who knows...

As great as JJ is, they’re not giving up the #1 overall just to make a guy who missed 7 games last year the highest paid WR in NFL history. All while handing us a potential franchise QB.

Chi has at least a couple of outcomes if they weigh a trade to #1 involving JJ:

A. Fields and JJ with their two significantly expensive contracts, and a host of #1 picks.

B. Caleb and a top WR on rookie deals.

They might be fine with or prefer the latter, so in order to sway their decision to the former it's going to have to be a LOT of #1 picks.

Minnesota fans are probably intrigued with various proposals to trade up to #1.

Chicago fans are probably laughing at all of those proposals. And rightly so. They hold the card that gives carte blanche for a team to draft anyone to play the singular most important position in team sports.

Some Chi fans might wonder who JJ even IS, considering he didn't play in either Chi game last year and in the 2nd Chi game in 2022 he had 38 yards.

He has a whopping two career TDs against Chi.

In the six games he did play, he averaged 98 yards and 0.3 TDs.

I have just been told that the NFL has a logo every year that they change the colors of it, it comes out before the season starts, and the logos tell us in advance the colors of the Super Bowl participants, and they have accurately told us this for over 20 years.

Does this have any validity ?

Off season speculation is fun with so much time until the draft....

Some idle thoughts today while I wait.

.01 % chance we trade JJ.

4% chance Chicago considers a massive overpay from us to move up to #1.

I think Kwesi needs to try to explore a trade with Washington or New England BEFORE the draft.

I can't imagine how excited we'd be on draft night if we had pick 2 going in!

I'd put it more at .01% chance they trade JJ and .0001 chance the Bears accept an overpay from the Vikings.

I think we would trade him before someone would trade with us. Obviously I dont know all the ins-and-outs of trading arguably the best WR on the last year of his rookie deal but it seems to me your giving up a lot and taking quite a chance that it may not be long term. And if it is there's a lot of cap involved. Lots to consider if you want him all the way around.

Here is what KC got for Tyreek Hill

Hill was traded to Miami for five draft picks — 2022 first-, second-, and fourth-round picks as well as 2023 fourth- and sixth-round picks — in the 2022 offseason.Nov 1, 2023

Yeah I agree - although in spirit, I think Murph is right. NE or WASH are a microscopic almost no chance compared to CHI’s no chance whatever … which at least meets the dumb and dumber calculus of, ‘so you’re saying theres a chance.’

From my understanding, the last 2 years they had the colors of the 2 teams in it, not sure about anything before that.

I just read an article that said Aaron Rodgers got wind of it, and said that if the Super Bowl ends up being the Ravens over the 49ers, he wants next year's logo to be mostly green.
