I am amazed he is still out there; lots of teams need line help.

He's not rated very well. He gets a low grade.

would he really be an upgrade? We all hate Ingram so much we think it will, but will it really?

Yes, it really will. He is not elite, but he is extremely competent, which is a massive upgrade from what we have.

Yes, although to Bill's point ... depending on who Reisner replaces, the floodgate is merely reduced to a couple of turnstiles. And actually, Reisner's greatest contribution would be to remain unnoticeable ... so it would be a good get with an invisible impact! Kind of. And maybe just toss more ridicule on Bradbury and the other G spot.

I'm all for it. I'm all for Kwesi Kevin taking on Spielman residue head-on (if they replace Cleveland) or course correcting (if they replace Ingram) ... both would be another half-step forward ... although, if its a 1-2 yr deal its just a bandaid, not rebuilding.

I don't get this talk of Cleveland being an excellent run blocker. KOC ran it up the gut alot and there was rarely any running room. We'd get stalemated when we needed a yard or worse. I also noticed Cleveland was routinely late getting out in the flat on screen plays. This might have been poor play design being Cleveland is one of the faster lineman in the league or he had to get off his back after engaging in a block.

At any rate I think it makes sense to replace Cleveland with Risner and hope Ingram develops.

If we sign Risner would not be surprised if Cleveland sent away for picks or defensive help.

I’m just sick of watching our IOL get rag doll tossed and pushed around in pass protection.

And I can’t even come up with a creative way to describe how maddeningly frustrating it is to have 2nd or third or fourth and less than a yard and get stuffed backwards, losing yardage in those situations.

That’s only on KFC for not changing a play at all, based on read at the line in those situations.
it’s more about the low quality of players drafted by trying to wheel and deal in the draft room on draft day..
The franchise has needed a stud at center since Birk left…

The crap we have wasted or trying to be cute with on draft days is sickening.

If a fn stud is there for ANY OL position, in the draft, even in the first, you fn draft him.

The offense suffers so much, and the three and out hurt the defense over the course of a game/ season, but it’s not the “ sexy” fan favorite Marty approach of having 6 bazillion WR and Running backs..

FFS
80% of this board alone could field a better OL than the highly paid coaches and management has been able to do for a DECADE!

At the very least they have used 2 2nds and two firsts on the Oline recently; took Spielman long enough to figure that out. Dallas and Philly won Super Bowls doing it. The only reason they wouldn't draft a olineman in the first two was that their was a great dlineman.

@BenGoessling

I’m told Dalton Risner’s visit with the #Vikings has concluded. Though there could be a deal at some point, I wouldn’t expect one is imminent

How would you feel if you were the guard Risner was going to replace with your "leader" wearing 66 to practice?

this could be the pretext the fo used with the players....

Nick Olson@NickOlsonNFL
If the #Vikings signed Risner in March I would agree with this. I would be a little surprised if an August signing unseated a starter in an offseason when OL continuity has been the mantra. Might have more to do with the current backup OG (Chris Reed) being on NFI.

i could mean that o'neill is not doing as well as we had hoped...perhaps we're going to convert Cleveland back to tackle - higher trade value, too....

risner at left guard could mean that we're good at o-line for the foreseeable future....

Except for 40% of it.

LOL.

So you’re saying the OL would be a vast upgrade over the last few versions?

Percentage wise, an upgrade but not a vast one

A few injury concerns for the Vikings today. Kene Nwangwu didn’t practice, Alexander Mattison appeared to get a little banged up, Andrew Booth Jr. left with a trainer, and Trishton Jackson was carted off with a serious-looking knee injury.

-------

If Mattison got banged up, there must have been some sorry defenders laying around writhing on the ground.

Not concerned about Booth because he shows up with, hangs out with, and leaves with a trainer.

Shame about Jackson.

He has zero leadership skills, and is a relative idiot when it comes to leadership prowess.

Booth is better off the field than on.

Lock in Murphy, Blackmon, and Evans as the starters. Hope Evans doesn't have any concussions.
