Trey Lance traded to Dallas. Thank you Cowpukes.

I would love to have Lance over Hall as a project ... much higher cieling IMO ... just not for a 4th rd pick at this point (as its being reported by nfl.com).

I give SF credit for quickly course correcting (although they got ridiculously lucky with Purdy). I give Dallas credit for gambling on a project at QB with MAYBE some ceiling. Certainly more than the usual 1 out of 1 million chance late rd draft pick.

I was actually disappointed to see the trade to D myself.

I actually like Rush as a backup more than Prescott as a starter … so surprised they would give up 4th for somebody who’s going to sit for awhile.

Its a wild stab but yeah I would hate for Lance to turn into something now. Freakin Cowboys.

I too prefer Lance to Hall as a project QB, but when the salary is factored in no way.
I would have been OK with giving up a 5th round pick for him, but only if the 49ers were picking up a lot of his salary.

When you factor in the salary I think staying away from him was a no brainer.

Me too. Especially after reading the thread in DN. It seems like he’s raw and his biggest issues are coachable.

Plus with SF already paying his roster bonus this year, he’s quite reasonable for this year and next. I believe like 6M total for the 2 years.

but there's so little time left - do you pick up his 5th-year option next may? -- $20+mmm...pay him $5mm in '24?....

i'd be interested, if he'd restructure his deal - but maybe he can't do that after year two - per the cba...perhaps he does it next year before his $5mm is due....

After giving up all those picks for Lance, and then SF is willing to give up Lance for a 4th rounder, tells you all you need to know.

The wild impatience in today's NFL baffles me. The 49ers give up 3 first rounders and a 3rd rounder for Trey. They give him 262 pro snaps over 4 starts and toss him for a 4th rounder and head into a season with Purdy, who has played 5 games, and underachiever journeyman Darnold.

Both.

We know the 49ers have the guts to move on from a Ponder Treadwell etc-type mistake.

Remains to be seen what Lance does or doesn't become.

It's clear the 49ers don't have time or have the need to fast-track Lance into even a backup role. He's that far behind.

I thought Hall was horrible today. Decent start, but finished so bad.

Vikings like to waste picks on the Tarvaris, Kellen Mond, Jarren Hall POS QB's of the world and then are too cheap to send a 4th rounder for Trey Lance? Don't want to squander the precious draft picks. As I said a few years ago. You want a QB you trade up and get Fields. You don't waste a third round pick on Kellen Mond. Of course some here argued with me...sigh.

Not yet sold on fields, but Caleb Williams is the guy to trade up for next year.

Hall was taking a shot, but should have gotten DTR, just needed to move up a few picks for him.

Early reviews suggest DTR was the non-1st round QB to grab and develop.

Jeff, did you do the poll that asks which team will draft first in next year's draft ?

If not, hoping you (and many others) will give their input.

Yup. I fully expect Richardson to have some super human highlight reel runs for Colts and people will declare him the second coming.

Can he throw?

Lots of these run first QBs better win big quickly because they will end up sucking if they can’t figure out passing from pocket.

Fields sucks. I'm very glad we don't have him.

Now with cut downs looming, I hope we are scrutinizing the Bears closely. Be nice to harvest a few more defensive starters like last year.

Of course you do! Cooper Rush or Rush Cooper looked like a Pro Bowler against us.

Thinking we will have a high-intensity defense that will make a lot of mistakes. Envision a play action where five Vikings defenders tackle the would be ball carrier while some QB tosses a 50 yarder for a TD... the color man announcer saying "Oh, that looked like a big breakdown in communication."

Another reason the team should have traded Cousins this year. Now we are stuck with an 8-9 season instead of 4-13 with a shot at Williams. Mediocrity has been the Vikings' calling card the last 40 years.
