ORIGINAL: David Levine Apparently Lore and ARod submitted the money a week before the deadline. This is a great video. Pablo Torre (especially) and Zach Harper take a really deep dive into everything going on. How the Billion-Dollar War to Own the Timberwolves Went Nuclear | PTFO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmOkcQwZ-s8&t=548s&ab_channel=PABLOTORREFINDSOUT Bottom line: Glen Taylor is a fraud, has always been a fraud, and will continue to be a fraud. He is the Donald Trump of the NBA and is proud of it. I see an owner that kept us in MN and wants the trophy if it is won this year as he has been the one writing all the checks. That is probably worst case scenario for Lore and Alex as they want the credit (as they pushed for Connelly) but ownership really isn't tranferred until NBA approves it. It will be decided one way or another after the playoffs....but Lore and Alex's investment has doubled basically in 3 years since they bought them cheaper than it should have been sold. That is before whatever the team does in this years playoffs. Yes he stepped in and kept the team here, but he's a pretty weaselly dude and not a very good owner, despite whatever business acumen he may have elsewhere. Look at the Joe Smith fiasco for one example. I think the current situation has two equal causes. 50% The value of the team has sky rocketed since this deal began. So Glen is trying to use failure to dot some ‘i’s and cross ‘t’s, or at least some ambiguity suggesting that to can the deal. And 50%, Glen is just weird. The Wolves are finally a contender after decades of awfulness, and it would kill Glen to step out of the limelight at this exact moment. He wants to be slapped on the back. I’m sure ARod and Lore could have arranged for some back slapping even though he wouldn’t be the principal owner any more. All they’ve done is try to placate him through this whole process. But that wouldn’t be good enough for Glen. He needs to be the man. What I DON’T think was a factor was the story about the new owners wanting to cut payroll. That was just cover. It’s not uncommon for new ownership to submit conservative projections and up it later.
