For how bad Mullens is Daniels is really a phenomenal upgrade.

I just wish JJM could have been the backup. Even if we only got to see him a few times so far.

I wish JJM could have got in a few games of real action. He would have experienced the speed and complexities of the game and those memories would have been invaluable. Oh well.

No matter what you think of Darnold/Jones ect you have to appreciate that this regime is not sitting on a particular QB like KC's. It's been reported several times that the old regime wouldn't bring in real talent behind him so he wouldn't get upset with the competition. Basic clipboard holders that couldn't really challenge him but help with studies.

Who knows how this plays out but KAM and KOC have 3 top 10 QB's on the roster. At least they aren't leaving stones unturned.

This regime did sit on Cousins, until they didn't.

3 top 10 QB's on the roster?

Agree they are at least trying, and Jones is a good move for now. Hopefully Mullens hits the road, although he is fun to watch from a pure entertainment perspective.

i believe that jesser meant; 3 qb's drafted in the 1st round, top 10 of their draft year....

I have mixed feelings about Mullens...dude came in cold and fired a bullet into jones for a 14 yard first down...at that moment of the game, I had no faith that darnold/o'connell could do that....

Yup. Even I’m not that dumb to think they are top 10 but that was poorly worded 🤦‍♂️

we have to figure out a way to profit from rebuilding broken qb's....

we could work out a handshake deal if the receiving team could accept darnold/jones with a franchise/transition tag....

i realize that I sound like an a-hole, but hey, it's business, and those qb's came to us because with o'connell and mccown we substantially upgrade their talent/ability....

Yep, when Mullens throws 1 pass every 6 games, he's good. When he plays full games, he does thing like get intercepted by the guy who's sacking him.

According to OTC an extension has a value minimum, of 23 million..

And I don’t see us offering that..

We just got rid of an “ almost” albatross QB contract..

Time to bite a bullet and suck untill we can really rebuild..

Caleb Williams is gonna be good.

I'm sure Darnold and his agent insisted on a one year deal. It is working out perfectly for him.

We can get a compensatory pick for him(Darnold).

And we are set up with JJM and Jones for next year. On the cheap.

We don't have Jones for next year. If we sign him, it's probably a Darnold redux situation. Let's say Jones plays similar to Darnold and the team is winning. Is Jones benched to get JJM in? Or is JJM anointed the starter on day 1? Just like of wondering what the thought process for Jones is WRT signing here.

If JJM sits much of next year and Dallas Turner continues his Lewis Cine-esque journey towards playing time, I think more eyes are going to turn towards Kwesi.

I would bet Jones is thinking he can beat out JJM and do a career fix for another 4 yr deal from another team...

the team is thinking that we got a cheap option, at worst, as backup...and maybe gives JJM another year to learn a la Rodgers and Love...

plus insurance if the knee isn't 100%

I really don't want to sit through a year of Jones starting, and always wonder if we got a player in JJM or not...

I think JJM is annointed starter unless there is continued injury problems. I don't think you tell Jones that when we are trying to re-sign him.

Kwesi is 9-2 right now and is knocking it out of the park on FA signings. College scouting might need some new blood but KAM is safe.

if jones resigns, it will be for backup money, i.e. $5mm/yr...we'll be paying him for pro NFL quarterback camp, and if he's smart, he'll take it....

if healthy, mccarthy definitely starts next year - we're going to spend our money building the team out....

You also have to imagine/consider that KAM took a lot of input from Donatell in that first draft and he turned out to be a complete disaster. At least, on the D side of the ball.

Bears have played GB, Us, Det down to the wire and could have won all 3 had Eberflus not ****ed everything up. If they get the right coach in there next year the NFCN is going to be a blood bath.

You gotta assume they will push hard for Ben Johnson. Which, could suck for the rest of the division. On one hand, he seems to be an offensive guru. On the other, no HC experience so who knows how he handles that. Assuming he's the guy.

We have no real future until we acquire a quality center, left guard, and a big dt. We are a very soft team in the trenches.

It's frustrating. A good oline makes the rest of the offense better. An average run game is improved with an interior line push. So is the pass game That's the most frustrating thing about our team.

And some quality CBs. Is Moreau any worse than Gilmore? At least Moreau is in the picture on big plays.

Gilmore has the smarts but he can only do so much physically now.
