ORIGINAL: Todd M I feel I’ve grounded myself on some of this. Darnold has missed plays. WR’s have dropped TD’s. RB’s fumbled in the RZ. KOC had made questionable calls. The Defense not sharp at times. ST lapses. But how can you not love this team? We dream every off season to be in this good of a position. I’m all in. This team is incredible. Our main weakness is GCG. Next season we can fix that. I wish we could get Darnold for $10 million again next season. I also wish that McCarthy turns out to be awesome. We might have enough to get to the Super Bowl this year. Next year could be even better. Every team (even KC) has weaknesses....you have to pick your poison. guards and centers just aren't sexy...when the defense rushes the QB with three players, it almost all the time gives the QB plenty of time to find a receiver, no matter how many defensive players are guarding them...when the offense has a strong o-line it gives the QB more time with fewer d-backs guarding the receivers.... as we all know, a huge part of what makes detroit so strong is their o-line.... kwesi thought he could do the interior o-line cheap with brandel and $3m, a smallish/weak center, and a weak rookie/journeyman right guard...spielman never gave the interior o-line much attention either.... if you want to give your QB, the most expensive player on your team, the best chance of success in this league, give him the best o-line you can.... we'll have the money in 2025 to address this...kwesi, just do it.... Brandel may be fine but at least improve one of the other two....Risner has been an ok stopgap but I think Center is the main issue. They do have a lot of money and resources spent on Darrisaw, O'Neil, and Bradbury actually....Ingram was also a 2nd round pick I believe....so it was more not hitting HR on Bradbury and Ingram than the resources spent. Brandel is not fine by any stretch of the imagination and he's the one most likely to move early in the red zone. It doesn't where previous lineman were drafted. When something is a problem for years and you don't fix it, you're not spending the resources. IMO Brandel is fine if you fix C but who knows. They infused the defense with a bunch of FA.....time for OL.
