I’d love a SB win, 2 1st round picks for Sam, and put QBOTF playing on a rookie deal.

Build the team. Trust in KOC.

I don't know that the Vikes stand to get 2 1sts for a guy on a year deal who may not want to go to any of the teams the Vikings want to trade him to.

Here is the thing I really don't understand...why would you trade a Superbowl winning franchise QB? That's the thing you have to have and the piece that is hardest to get.

One, the timing would be good. Fans will be so placated from the SB win, having gotten that ‘one before I die’ that they can be sold on the direction already planned for.

Two, I think we can do more for this team with draft picks and $ than rewarding Sam with what would then be $45+\year.

Three, I think Sam is fools gold and I don’t want to be tied to that.

Not sure they can be sold on that even though that may be the mantra now.

It's like virginity. Your goal is to get the prize and aren't concerned about a second prize. But once you get the prize, you definitely want to experience that prize again.

Great post, Lars.

I typically love a fun slinger. I don’t think Sam is one. Just wants to be.

Take the one TD to Addison. That was a 30 yard dud that was no where near Addison. He had to come back a way.

I hope he goes off the rest of the year and we win it all. Next year can be next year. My only real ‘worry’ right now is how will Sam play in the playoffs. He could gun sling us out.

Also, after winning a SB (a SB win!) I don't think "we can do more" with a new QB/picks/cap unless you're shifting to stringing SB wins together. I would say it is highly unlikely JJM steps in and wins a SB after that.

In the event you win the SB with Darnold being a big part of it, you immediately look to run it back. The plans for building the future roster go out the window.

Time to get back in the moment. Which is fantastic. I’m a very lucky man.

I think Darnold will have to play out of his mind to overcome offensive deficiencies such as an invisible IOL. And if forced to put money on it, I don't think he has the 'IT' factor or makeup to do so. Especially if playoff type teams are killing us vs the pass or running like Swift was doing... in a better offense. But that's why they play the game!

Although we are speculating about the future, it is in the moment.

My $0.02 and random thoughts:

It's tough to win in the NFL, and the Vikes now have 12 on the year with 3 games to go!

Divisional games are always different. And we pulled pout at 18-point win. I'm not gonna bitch about that!

There was some chatter about "if CHI doesn't have that pre-snap penalty, then the game changes". Maybe, but that is also the crap we have been saying for years about us! If only payer X hadn't whiffed, missed the kick, gone out of bounds, etc..... Winning teams find a way to overcome that crap and win. Look at the walk-in TD that Jettas dropped!

The defense gave up some plays, but it was clear they had a different gameplan this time and Caleb looked confused and frustrated all game.

Darnold is a guy who is going to take some chances - high risk - high reward. And even with some INT, the production is there. You can't win playing check-down conservative BS like we had with Cousins. It is not sustainable and requires near perfection. I'll take the guy who has a little gunslinger in him - especially when he backs it up with solid completion percentage, 3rd down conversions and TDs!

Plus, as mentioned by others, he has good pocket awareness - and WAY better than Counsins. He moves around in the pocket well and makes a few plays per game with his legs. THAT is what you need.

I feel like DET is at a point where the magic could be over - someone just needs to pop the bubble....

And finally, Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of the folks posting and lurking on here. You are the best!

great post Lars.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you too.

You’ve seen a better view than I have.

I trust you though.

I’ll let go of my angst.

Gabriel Murphy got healthy so he was odd man out. We gave him(Carter) time to develop but he never stepped up.

Gotta give props to Turner for that sick knee bend on the sack. I hadn’t really seen anything like it. That’s 99th percentile stuff right there.

his knee brushed the turf as he turned that edge....

Sort of like a short track speed skater or a motorcycle in a high speed curve except it was more insane. Lawrence Taylor, for all his strength, was amazingly athletic like that. It was one of the most incredible plays I've seen.

I don't know why we haven't seen more of this.

I watched him get a lot of snaps against Mathews from ATL. Tried bull rushing most of the time. Use that speed and bend and try and go by them, not through them.

What a weird and crazy egomaniac.

------------------------------------------------

After that hour, McAfee started to say "ladies and gentlemen, Aaron Rodgers" before Rodgers cut him off.

"I'm not done," he said, to which McAfee replied "oh (expletive)."

Rodgers then went into what he called "just a quick PSA reminder" for the show.

"Say whatever the (expletive) you want about me, I don't care, but just before you do it, whether you state your name, your accolades, pronouns, whatever it is, just state your [vaccination] status so that anything you say afterwards gets put in the right light," he said. "Just get it out there."

He did not name anyone individually at ESPN or elsewhere, but continued to emphasize vaccination status.

"Then when you say things about me people can at least be like, 'oh, you are captured by the multimillion-dollar propaganda Skyhawk and you're still upset about it,'" he continued. "Just so everybody knows where you're coming from, everybody knows 'okay, cool, you're twice [vaccinated with] Moderna with three booster shots' and then say what you want to say, whatever."

McAfee and co-host A.J. Hawk both commented that this will help things at the network, likely referring to comments from Clark and others at ESPN.

"I don't care," Rodgers went on. "I'm just saying a PSA, just please help everybody who's wondering 'where is this coming from?' Including myself... do a little bit of digging and then you know where it's all coming from. You're captured, you're highly vaccinated and then say whatever the hell you want to say about me [because] I couldn't give two (expletive)s about it."

Rodgers ended with a request that media members put their vaccination status on-air in their biographies instead of their accolades "because [they] cared so much about it during the COVID years."

He then made his lone reference to Clark, saying "you don't just need a broach with your initials." Clark wore a gold lapel with his initials "RC" on it during his appearance on "First Take" criticizing Rodgers' assessment of sports media.

"Put your [vaccination] status on there too," he said.

What did everyone think of our all whites? They weren’t great imo. The silver really threw me. I think JJ wanted them to highlight all his diamonds.

How is this Viking related? You could have put it on the Twins thread but very few are reading that these days.
