ORIGINAL: Bill Johanesen 18/41, 166 yds, 4.0 ypa. 0 TDs. So much for QB rating, lol. Most everything was the same as the other games, except one major difference: Sam Darnold choked one for the ages. He didn't play well. I don't think anyone would deny that. But the coach has got to recognize the pitfalls during the game and make adjustments. You can't keep running 30-yard routes when your quarterback is getting pressured. It's just stupid. The good thing is, a win next Monday gives him a second chance to come up with a legitimate game plan the next time they see each other. You are literally unable to say he stunk. KOC, the OL, the QB... they all stunk. And Darnold threw several unforced errant passes. He didn't stink. He had no chance to stink. The coach didn't put him in a position to succeed. He really didn't miss one wide open receiver the entire second half, because there were no wide open receivers. I'm not sure what game you were watching, but you may want to go back and watch it again. I'm not sure what your expectations are, but he can't throw the pass and catch it all on his own. Guys were covered. Especially in the 2nd half Jefferson and Hockenson were covered. Guys were on them like glue. I'm still shocked by that. Exactly. You can't run 25-yard routes when they are sending six against our horrific line. It's coaching malpractice. You could have the greatest quarterback of all time back there and it wouldn't matter. Quite frankly thos group reeks of being frontrunners. Sure they can beat the Cardinals and Falcons etc. They got punched in the mouth 3 times thos year. They lost them all. Seems like a bunch of weenies that are probably just happy to be in the playoffs at this point. I'm actually glad it happened tonight. Now they know what won't work against a good team. It's a good wake-up call for O'Connell. You can't just lay all the blame on one guy. It was an offensive TEAM collapse. Play-calling, execution, you name it.
