A new article on the Athletic:
Can the Blues catch the Wild for top wild card? ‘That’s definitely the goal’
They have an easier schedule to finish than we do so don't bet against them.......

Will the Wild win another game this season? Watching this team play recently has me wondering if KK will want to hitch his career to this team longer term. If I were him I would have doubts....

Yeah, they are pretty awful right now to watch. The only thing left (for me, at least) is to see how Buium looks in limited action this year. Good point on KK. His loyalty has to be getting tested right now.

Buium is in the final 3 for the Hobey Baker which is cool. I think Buium can slide right in next to Faber and show us a glimpse of our future shutdown pair.
The next NHL game I watch will be Sunday where Ovi is going to beat the Great One's record.
Maybe as a bonus Wilson will beat cheap shit Horvat's ass.....

Right now the Wild are proving the point Jesser made when things were going well. They just weren't going to sustain a certain level of offense, relying so heavily on goals from the defensemen. They desperately need KK and Ek back in the lineup. Kaprizov may be back just before the playoffs. Ek may not be available until after the playoffs start.

I hear that Kaprizov may return Wednesday. He had previously been cleared for full contact during practices. No word on Ekker yet.

Russo thinks he won't be available until playoffs at best (1-2 weeks)....

And now we have a couple of top lines with some added scoring punch. I like it so far. Kirill is skating like the himself again.....

Nice return. Ekker with 4 goals, KK with 2 goals 1 assist. The Wild win a defensive battle 8-7.

Good sense of humor. Defensive battle.

What a crazy game, and thank goodness we ended up with the 2 points, even though it was an odd way to get it. When you score 7 goals in regulation, you sure never expect to have to go into overtime.

But, I'll add, it was such a joy to have both Kaprizov and Ek back.

Unless your goalie is MAF.

Now if the Wild sign Buium after the Frozen Four, they could be a sleeper team in the playoffs.

Everything I've heard from the media/KFAN on Fleury this season is that he's been wonderful and everyone hopes he returns for one more season.

Last night I turned off the game after the 2nd goal since there was only one team playing like they want to make the playoffs and that team wasn't the Wild!
They sucked again and were beat to every puck and lost every board battle.....
At this point I don't want to waste time watching them in the playoffs. We are in need of a big makeover badly.

Zeev Buium signed a 3 year deal and will be in the lineup for Tuesday's season finale.

I have also heard the Wild are working to get Danila Yurov signed, but he is unlikely to be here until next season.

They can sit Chisolm, the turnover machine, and let Zeev take his spot. With Middleton still hurting I'd love to see Zeev with Faber for a glimpse of our future top pair.

If everyone is healthy, sit Chisholm and Merrill.

Yup. Now I want them to make the playoffs. I know we’ll get smoked in the first round but it’ll give ZB a taste of what it’s like and Faber more experience.

They need to get 1 point at home against the Ducks to make the playoffs......should be able to do that.
Selfishly I'm hoping we get the 7th seed and the Jets so all the games are CDT instead of late games out in Vegas.

This team is so bizarre I pull my hair out every time it grows back.

Storm out of the gates, #1 or 2 in points for a large part of the early season yet = "they'll maybe make it out of the first round"

Sag a bit around the holidays yet = "no worries. they'll make the playoffs but a first round exit is probably in order"

Crap the bed with injuries piling up yet = "no doubt they make the playoffs but an ass kicking is coming"

Survive the injury crisis a bit and yet = "we're done but hopefully the young kids get some playoff experience".

I sure hope BG knows what he's doing because I'm not sure if the extra cash coming makes us better. We've relied on so many average vets to make the #7/8 seeds but that's the ceiling. Good teams have 1 or 2 Ryan Hartman's. We are littered with them.

The added cap space next year should allow BG to add a couple of top 6 players so we can at least play 2 actual NHL level lines. The problem is, after that we are stuck with NMC 30 somethings for 3rd and 4th lines. The good news is we shouldn't be stuck with an AHL 4th line all season next year. We are finally free of the cap hits and it appears we are just now starting a 5 year plan...... Will KK be willing to stick around for it?

Keep on adding young guys like Zeev and Yurov yearly and there will be less needs. I liked what the big defenseman we traded for showed until he was injured....

Russo said that the only knock against Zeev is he is so aggressive that he turns the puck over a lot also.
