Sources: A team that made a last-ditch effort near the deadline to engage the Phoenix Suns on trading for Kevin Durant to no avail: the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Probably because it would've been an impossible trade to make.

We don't have a single contract big enough to trade for Durant. And if we somehow dumped enough salary to get under the 2nd apron, we wouldn't have had enough assets left to trade for him.

We were pretty much handcuffed in terms of making any significant move, right?

Pretty much. Can't aggregate players in a trade out, and can't take back even a penny more than we send out.

On a positive note, it's good to see Finch actually use his bench. Clark on fire tonight.

I think we are likely to see more of Clark after the All-Star break. Probably at the expense of Minott.

With last night's win and the Clipper's loss, the Wolves are now in the 6th seed.

That was an electrifying win. 4th quarter especially. Felt a bit like the playoffs last year…at least vs Phx and Denver.

It was a fun game to watch. I liked the way they were in battle mode on the second night of back to backs. For some reason that made me think of how Flip used to whine incessantly about playing back to backs.

Dillon Brooks didn't do his team any favors by pissing off Ant. Edwards seized the 4th quarter by throat and won it. Good to see him getting to the line and that shot block late was amazing.

Conley must have taken his vitamin E yesterday. He looked like the guy we had gotten use to before this year.

I think Clark has already passed Minott. We could actually use Randle back because Luka is just terrible.

The only negative I have is that something is off with Naz's shot. His straight on 3 is usually money in the bank and he clanked one after another the last two games.

Now, hopefully, today brings us the end of the Glen Taylor ownership.

Anthony Edwards records broken over the last two weeks:
— Most threes in franchise history
— Most 40-point games in franchise history
— Most 45-point games in franchise history

Also highest "drafted" Timberwolf for the All Star Game. :-)

That's a tied record, not a broken one.

Minott isn't even in the rotation. I'm surprised we couldn't get a 2nd round pick for him at the deadline.

Edwards has a wonderful disposition, especially for a star. He's not whiny, he doesn't back down, he just stays happy and plays ball. All the young cats on the team should be trying to mimic is demeanor, effort and work ethic. He has a very unique way about him.

Still way too many dead roster spots on this team. Garza is so bad, and when you can't at all play defense, you better bring something else.

The one complaint I have is his non-stop complaining to the refs. He's been T'd up for it to where he is on the verge of suspension.

I thought Minott has looked solid in limited minutes, though he seemed to play primarily 2nd quarter, and unclear why we’d look to simply unload him rn. Is he too old to replace NWA (from a contract standpoint)? It seems like there is a lot of wing potential on the bench and a notable lack of bigs.

Anyone having a reveal party Monday?!

Any comments of this (taken from HoopsHype)
When Butler first came to the Heat in summer 2019, Butler was in Riley’s office celebrating the signing of the four-year, $142 million deal that landed him in Miami. The two men cracked open a bottle of Screaming Eagle cabernet from Riley’s personally curated wine cellar inside the Heat offices. Riley was telling stories, and he asked Butler who the most talented player he ever played with was. Butler answered quickly: Wiggins, the 2014 No. 1 pick and his teammate with the Timberwolves. Riley was surprised, those who were in the room remembered, and joked that Butler might need to be cut off from any more wine. But Butler insisted. Wiggins’ talent was incredible. Five years later, they were traded for each other.

Guess I always saw him with the potential, but not the drive to reach the top of his profession. Don't know if I would consider Butler's opinion a compliment or a cut.

He tends to make one or two really nice plays and a whole ton of mistakes. Especially on defense. His biggest problem is he doesn't do anything particularly well.

I don't see him in an NBA rotation.

That's where Clark passed him up. Great IQ on the floor.plays solid D, decent 3 point shot, makes smart cuts. Clark seems to know what he needs to do and does it.

Crazy game. Unexpected comeback with so many guys out. But they were lucky. It was made possible by a Portland team that despite being pretty good lately is still a bad team.

Nevertheless, these bench guys getting meaningful minutes will only help them down the road.

I really like Clark’s game. Need to let Jaden be a focus on offense at times for him to get better.

Rob will have good and bad days but is he even 20 yet?
