I really liked what the Vikings did this past week in free agency and believe they have set themselves up well prior to the draft. I just wish we get the backup quarterback situation resolved without Rodgers being the solution.

I don't believe the pissy diva is being considered at all. He's still going to demand a lot more money than he is worth. He won't be interested in a backup/ mentor role. I have to believe that KAM and KOC know that Erin is the most toxic football player on the planet.

What I want to see is a LG signed. A line, like a chain, is as strong as its weakest link. Brandel is an incredibly weak link. I can't emphasize enough how bad he was last year.

Probably will address in draft or Rouse/Brandel. Brandel was much better with Darrisaw to his left and you add Kelly. He might be just fine.

Agree that ‘Rogers waiting on Vikings decision’ is just another rogers centric / rogers generated attempt at control.

Its possible there are execs in our building mesmerized by the possible hoopla … KAM-KOC by their nature may be listening to these voices with wide eyed sincerity … but I doubt they would derail their finely tuned collaborative atmosphere with an incredible narcissist.

It does irk me that backups are flyng off the shelves and we seem to be dovetailing into the same holding pattern with Rogers / Cousins (and his free 10m) … just the visual of that is repulsive, even if totally baseless.

Unless Jurgens is the answer, we need a backup G. Brandel is perfect for that if we can get a quality starting G.

We need backup WRs, likely WR4 & WR5 unless we get one that supplants Nailor.

Are the starting CBs Blackmon, Rodgers, and Murphy (slot)? Murphy and Rodgers look to be based on cost. Is the other starter Blackmon, does someone else step up, or is the regime still after a starter?

And we need 1-2 backup QBs unless McCown plans to suit up.

I'm beginning to think the Vikings taking their time on signing a QB indicates their very comfortable with McCarthy as the starter. If not why wouldn't they have locked up Darnold to start again or someone else with starting ability?

There was never a time when Brandel was better. Out of 64 starting guards, Brandel ranked 98th. He's straight up terrible and needs to be replaced before the draft.

So Brandel's ceiling is mediocre when he has a Pro-Bowl caliber LT next to him. Great

Brandel was simply a 'nobody will notice' low cost player thrown into a starting position based on previous cap situations. In no shape or form should he be a starter on an NFL team.

If anything, he made Darrisaw underperform. Darrisaw should have added a stipulation into his extension that the LG needs to be halfway legit.

Agent: We want a legit G next to Christian.
Kwesi: Well we have Brandel who is marginal when he plays next to Christian. Is that enough?
Agent: No. FU no. And because that sad sack makes my player look bad we're either not extending or we want $5M more per year for defamation of character!
Kwesi: Well, we have some draft picks. Not a lot mind you, but some. If I'm wearing blue penny loafers in the war room, that suggests guard in the 1st. OK?
Agent: You can't draft worth shit. Oh, hey Ryan Kelly's agent is on the line. Wants to discuss covering for Brandel. The tone is not so pleasant

I think we should consider bringing back Risner - he had pretty good pass blocking grades, 76 pff, last season, and seems cheap for what we get from him....

He is a limitation of the past and of the projected 2025 OL, you don't get it.

Although Blackmon's return is unknown and JJM is unproven, Brandel is the current single weakest starter. Who would not want to flat out say he needs to be replaced? Nobody!

Anyone that relies on teammates to the left and to the right of him is not "fine". That would be a LEACH.

He was part of the problem, so he is not part of the solution.

Who cares about cheap?! It's obvious why he was cheap... he sucks!

There should be NO allegiance to suckiness. Let go of past Vikings. it's ok.

People want to keep/want Brandel and Risner even though the Mark One Eyeball said they are terrible and KOC made it embarrassingly clear the IOL needs to be better.

Astounding fan takes.

He isn’t any better than Brandel. Draft one or Brandel or Rouse.

He actually is better than Brandel. Risner graded out at 13th as pass blocker and was poor as a run blocker. Brandel was wretched at both. Risner was 42 over all and Brandel was #98.

That said, there better options than both out there and the Vikings should sign one. I'm not willing to bet on KAM's draft acumen to get us a quality LG.

Backup QB - Is John Wolford, Chad Henne or
Blaine Gabbert available ?

It would be nice if McCarthy has a backup QB that has experience being the backup QB for a Super Bowl winning QB.

Is this correct: Did Blaine Gabbert backup both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes when they won a Super Bowl ?

Cam to your left and Bradbury to your right isn't ideal or in Risner's case Bradbury to your left.

Realistically we aren't going to be able to fill all the line spots unless someone drops into our laps at a reasonable rate.

Next year (2026) the team is $9M in the red with 32 players signed. $9M isn't anything to dig out of, but it's not like having $50M to spend.

$39M JJ
$23M O'Neill
$23M Darrisaw
$22M Greenard
$21M Hock
$21M Hargrave
$21M Murphy
$21M Allen
$17M Fries
$13M Jones
$12M Kelly
$09M Phillips
$07M Rodgers

Risner had Bradbury to his left and scored very high as a pass blocker. The Vikings have roughly $32,801,533 in cap left. They should have no problem signing an upgrade from Brandel.

As the second wave of free agency awaits, the roster is pretty stocked. Needs:
QB (backup)
WR4
WR5
TE (backup)

Perfect world:
CB (starter)
G (starter)
WR3
WR4
QB (backup)
TE (backup)

Yeah this stuff about who played next to whom is over the top.

With that 'logic', Bradbury was held back because he had two crap guards on either side of him.

Bottomline, they were the 3 Stooges out there.

Darisaw was really good at his job, meaning any extra blocker could focus on the guy Brandel let through.

For me it was more the guy Cam was letting thru or Bradbury getting bulldozed thru (For Brandel to block).
