I'd have to take a much deeper look before trading for his contract - that will likely require a pricy extension.

Its possible he was never right last year after missing the last 5 games of 2024 with injury. Possible apathy playing for a shitty team?

Or maybe he's lost some burst.

Unless they improve on the offensive line and at quarterback, the Vikings will be in dead last place. On day one, they will have the worst team on paper at both positions.

Brian Flores was the only reason they won nine games. The Vikes were #7 in the league in scoring defense. Only six teams scored less points on offense.

Is Oline a position? If healthy... Darrisaw, Fries, O'Neil, and Jackson are pretty good on paper.....but all 4 were dealing with injuries last year.

I guess I'm an optimist. KOC seems to have alternated each year between a really exceptionally lucky season and one that is almost amazingly disastrous. Either we have unexpectedly great QB play and good things happen or we have historically, un-heard of levels of ineptitude. Not excusing anyone just pointing out that our bottom isn't really that low, even in years when it probably should have been. If I said you to here is a random team. They will start their 2nd year rookie who was hurt all of last year. He will play pretty crappily and get hurt. They will then play a pretty much washed up back up and he will play pretty crappily and then get hurt. Then they will start an undrafted rookie who will play horrifically bad. Then return to the 2nd year guy for a very mediocre finish. What would you project their record to be. Nobody is saying 9-8. But that's last year. So optimistically with even average QB play there is a lot of potential. Purple kool-aid for the win :)

Phil, I agree it's too early, but I also think I will feel the same about how the division is likely to shape up after the draft.

Brad, the Vikings still have Flores, so I see 9 wins as the floor (no pun intended).

* They're likely to be better at QB #1 and #2, compared to last year, regardless of who is named the starter.

* OL is a question mark with just about every team, and even a great OL is one injury away from going to great to just good.

* I also think play calling and QB play are quite important to OL play. I was almost set to want KOC gone, and away from play calling, then the last 4 games happened, and it seemed like he finally gets it, at least the possibility of him getting it is there.
