I am not sorry about Cashman, as I am correct about it.

I have also been off base on some things, even wrong about some things, but this isn't one of them. I have admitted to be wrong about other things, this just isn't one of them.

I am done bringing up this topic, unless someone else brings it up, or that you think it's a good place to put in a snide remark about me.

You should check out the false start on RG before Brown slant TD on Murphy. Stands up(which is fine) but never gets set again.

Edit: He did get set and then started early. Easy call. The penalty probably just would have delayed the inevitable but it was a clear penalty.

I think I understand the rules of what defines a catch, I just disagree with 1 part of it. I agree that Hockenson's near TD catch wasn't a catch by the rules.

I think a bobble shouldn't matter, you still have control if you still catch it. I don't care if it moves a foot, you still caught it. The ball can bounce off another player and still be a catch. I don't think a bobble should be the defining moment.

The ball was contacting the ground when the bobble happened.

No catch.

I agree, I stated that I agreed with the call.

I disagree in other cases where there is a bobble, and they call it no catch, but the player still caught it after the bobble, and maintained possession, caught the ball, but they call it no catch because there was a bobble.

A bobble is fine if its in the air. If the ball touches the ground during the bobble, it can't be considered a catch.

It’s hard to blame KOC too harshly when Wentz is making the mistakes he made. Addison was open all day, Ham should’ve had his first TD of the season and Hockenson should’ve had another. He can’t make the players execute. That being said, this team is undisciplined. They’re 28th in penalties, 32nd in turnovers and make consistent mental mistakes. 9-year olds playing Madden display better clock management skills. This isn’t a well coached team right now. KOC might be an excellent play caller, but it’s fair to question if he’s a good head coach.

I do think KOC is a good playcaller. It gets frustrating to watch in realtime, but in every game going back to the 2 Darnold stinkers to end last season, replays always show guys open often and early.

Sam's biggest problem was always waiting for the big play to open up instead of taking the easy one. Wentz just seems to process slowly and frequently misses seeing what should likely be his first read.

Addison, in particular, is an absolute master at getting off the line and open in well under 3 seconds.

This is interesting. From Alec Lewis from The Athletic:

"When the Vikings were winning with Darnold last season, I asked a veteran coach to watch the Vikings' offense in hopes of learning just how well Darnold was playing. The coach thought there was a big gap between Darnold's impressive 2024 stats and how well he was actually playing for Minnesota. We found relatively few high-level plays in the games we watched.

That same coach could not believe he was watching the same quarterback when he flipped through the Seahawks' offensive plays with Darnold this season.

"The whole thing was Tier 1," this coach said. "No one we know is throwing better than that."

Play after play showed Darnold delivering the ball accurately and with nuance, including against the rush.

"He used to be jittery in there," the coach said. "Now, he stands in there and looks down the barrel. A couple times, he jumped and threw like (Aaron) Rodgers does. He dropped to three-quarters (delivery)."

Was this really the same player?

"The deep ball has been accurate, making sure they can catch the ball and assuring the yardage," the coach said. "He's throwing it correctly into the short zones to keep his guys alive, which is interesting. He is leading receivers away from the hook defender, making the guy slide on the digs. He's way better. I'm so impressed."

Wentz is about what was to be expected. After Philly, the definition of journeyman. Has played for six or so teams. No other team rushed to sign him. He signed for $1.5 million.

JJM starts after this week.

Yeah, they wont make a change on a short week. But likely after the Chargers game...

I was skeptical of the pick. Didn't like his lack of reps in college. Now i just wanna see what he can do. Show some improvement as he goes forward. At this rate im concerned it could take him years to reach 17 games of experience.

Maybe we see Brosmer play Thursday night, Wentz injury, or blowout loss.

Or is McCarthy being elevated to the #2 spot before the game ?

QB Ratings Top-12

1) Jackson, Baltimore
2) Maye, New England
3) Goff, Detroit
4) Stafford, LA Rams
5) Darnold, Seattle
6) Hurts, Philadelphia
7) Love, Green Bay
8) Prescott, Dallas
9) Jones, Indianapolis
10) Rodgers, Pittsburgh
11) Allen, Buffalo
12) Mahomes, Kansas City

21) Wentz, Minnesota
37-ish) McCarthy, Minnesota (below Jake Browning) only guy to start a game that is lower is Cooper Rush

All I heard during the off-season was how the "Quarterback Whisperer" was going to make this guy great. A healthy Darrisaw. An improved offensive line. A little pixie dust. Maybe a rendition of Abracadabra from Lady Gaga.

from ESPN:

With Carson Wentz (shoulder) once again banged up following the team’s Week 7 loss to the Eagles, Brosmer might be forced into action on Thursday against the Chargers. J.J. McCarthy, apparently still dealing with his ankle issue, appears to be a long shot for Week 8. “We’ll see how [Wentz] turns over,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said after the team’s Week 7 loss. “I know Max was ready to go today and J.J. was the emergency three, but J.J. was able to get some work last week. We’ll see how he feels as well and on a short week.” Brosmer would likely be a major downgrade for Justin Jefferson and the rest of the Minnesota pass catchers against a solid Chargers secondary.

from Tom Pelissero:

Vikings listed J.J. McCarthy (ankle) as limited on Monday’s estimated practice report.
Just over 24 hours ago, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said “don’t be surprised” if Carson Wentz starts in Week 8. The decision to start Wentz will be spun as one that came down to the health of McCarthy’s ankle, but ever since McCarthy was unexpectedly diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain after a Week 2 loss to the Falcons, questions have been raised about the team’s commitment to him as their starter. McCarthy was limited in all of practice last week. Another week of limited practices would suggest he is close to a return even if Wentz draws another start.

Love the wording here:

"but ever since McCarthy was unexpectedly diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain after a Week 2 loss to the Falcons, questions have been raised about the team’s commitment to him as their starter."

I'm telling you people, he ain't hurt!

Can you imagine the medical attention this guy would need if he got sacked nine times in a playoff game by the Rams? He'd be in a body cast for 18 months.

The cool thing if that we will actually get to see how this plays out and not have to rely on speculation. Time will tell us if JJM is a good NFL QB or not.

2 games (or even a season) is a small sample size.

Maybe we cool it until we have enough data to make conclusions.....

Thank you Dr Brad for your expert diagnosis.

And as for Thursday, it will almost certainly be Wentz playing. It's not wise to change QBs on a short week if you can help it.

Long week, short week? What's the difference when you haven't played since week two? He's had five weeks to figure out the playbook.

Year and a half in and he's been "healthy" for 2 games. Put me in the "concerned" category for sure.
