The Twins cut 30 million before trading away 10 players last year.....The Brewers are over 160 million while being "Frugal" with a similar Twins TV Contract.

This is just a starting point of negotiation. The books of MLB teams are not public......you probably can figure out the Brewers and Twins are making 40-50 million a year and the Dodgers up to 500 million.

Correct. A cute plucky small market team might make a splash occasionally, but it’s not a model for continued success or proof that the system works.

A big payroll doesn’t guarantee success either, you still need to build smart. But it sure does boost your chances.

All you have to do to see the health of the game is drive around town and see all of the empty ball fields. There was a time when they were full all summer long with kids playing pick up games and now you only see activity for organized city teams.

The Bananas at Target Field outdraw the Twins.
I know many fans that only talked and watched the Twins in years past were done when they said they were cutting 30 million in payroll in November just a few years back. Going to take a lot more to get them back.

So does that hurt the player, like maybe stunting progression through his contract? There would be a revolt in the NFL if players couldn't get to their second contracts.

If so, is that typical 'small-market' shenanigans? League-wide?
