NFC North point differential

1. Minnesota Vikings +45
2. Chicago Bears +23
3. Detroit Lions +16
4. Green Bay Packers -8

And you can put the Bears Positive largely on that first game...

The weird thing about KOC getting the play in is that Kyler has the plays on his wrist.....he should only have to say a number that points to a play....like 10/15 should be the play and the check play? Correct?

This just kills me. As bad as our offense has been...we are 3rd in the entire NFL in point differential.

Imagine if this offense just gets up to an average rating.

The rest of the NFL needs to be very worried and fear playing us if this offense gets rolling at all. With Kyler Murray playing better and getting a whole lotta weapons back after the bye...look out. It could be very fun.

Rather than complain about it, how about giving props to whoever conditions the K-balls for Will Reichard! Maybe Will doesn't let anyone touch his balls!

Nobody knows. The wristbands are secretly coded.

JuJu Smith-Schuster was 1 of 3 WRs the Vikings worked out Monday, using Cam Miller (NDSU) as their QB. The list below, along with what Kevin O'Connell said about the WR position yesterday.

Other 2 were WR Dayton Wade and WR D'Wayne Eskridge.

Every play is actually more of a series of fragments strung together. Each player listens for HIS fragment so only the QB really has to know all of them. So it really isn't just call a number, they call the route trees, the run/pass, the protections, etc etc etc all in that call and each fragment can change play to play depending on what the defense is doing. my guess is they often will call two plays in the huddle, the primary play and the audible. so there's twice as much to call.

But I do think they need to find a way to pare it down a bit.

That's a full team stat, not just a defensive one.

Yes, we have 10 takeaways. That's fantastic.

But we only have 4 giveaways. That's equally fantastic.

Not to mention being as balanced as it gets with a 50-50 run/pass split doesn't mean anything.

Think about this.

The two turnovers on Sunday led to all 13 Saints points. 6 of them on the fumble return. We don't fumble we may have shut the Saints out. They were not driving the field.

The Vikings have put extra emphasis on protecting the ball this year. The fact that we've only turned it over 4 times in five games is a big reason we are 5-0. KOC doesn't often lose when he wins the turnover battle. And our guys are really good at knockng the ball out.

Here is
@DWolfsonKSTP
's report from
@SKORNorth
's "Purple Daily" today surrounding KSTP's unseen video of WR Jauan Jennings yelling at head coach Kevin O'Connell on the Vikings sideline Sunday -- as Myles Price's fumble was being returned for a Saints touchdown... 👀

"I don’t want to say dialogue, cuz KOC really didn’t have anything to say. But it was Jauan Jennings loudly going at KOC in that moment … Saints running for the touchdown, Jauan Jennings turns, finds KOC, and it looked like he was pretty animated just based on our Channel 5 video."

Maybe Jennings in the doghouse is another reason for the WR tryouts and OBJ signing?

When I saw that Brees was one of the announcers, I was appalled...

on principle, he should never be given a Saints game

haven't heard anything negative about this game, but still...

There really wasn't much opportunity to show bias, but that annoyed me

Tom Brady is PART OWNER of Raiders and allowed to announce.
The NFL doesn't even pretend to have announcer integrity.

Not only that....they gave him the game to announce in which he was added to their ring of honor....

So when they are sending out WR and not in the red zone....Kyler's preferences are....1. JJ, 2. TJ, 3. Addison, 4. Price, 5. Jesaun Jones, 6. Jennings.

Stats that sound absurd but are 100% real:

The Minnesota Vikings have had a Player of the Week award winner in 30.1% of games Kevin O'Connell has coached

It's stupid that they have a special kicking ball for field goals and extra points. It's ridiculous. Like these guys need even more help with kick distance? There should only be one type of ball used in a football game. It's like using a juiced HR derby ball in a real game when a team needs a HR to win the game.

I agree with this opinion, because I think things should be uniform, and there shouldn't be a science behind making the balls better for kicking long distances, it should be mostly based on the kicker's abilities.

While I agree with Matt, I would only express that sort of opinion if the Vikings didn't have a great kicker, and or if the Vikings would be having a tendency of losing games because of the opposing teams kicker.

Read the D has been remarkably healthy.

On O, Mason, Darrisaw, Hock (FWIW), and Addison should all return.

They don't "make the balls better", they just don't let them get as abused. Only a brush and water can be used to condition them.

Does it upset you that the regular NFL balls all go through an extensive 10 hour breaking in process involved harsh brushes, oils, balms and mud that removes any slickness, significantly softens the leather and actually makes them tacky to the touch making them much easier to grip and catch?

Don't know if anyone else likes these type of breakdowns...

This guy does a great job of illustrating Kyler's good/bad plays from the game and his strengths/limitations:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIuJdms_jG8

I'm pretty encourgaged that there are a number of plays Kyler misses due to what looks like him not being 100% familiar with the playbook.
I'm thinking as the season goes one he is going to clean up a good percentage of those and this offense could be a really good ball control scoring offense.
That combined with BFlo defense... this season could get really fun.

Also think Kyler's limitations probably put a ceiling on his play.
I think he can be good but probably not great.
Would love for him to prove me wrong though!

I love to see improvement every week from him. No one really knows his ceiling. We think we saw it 3-4 years ago but did that coach unlock it?

It is nice to have an explosive offense but to keep the defense healthy and off the field I think the long drives type of offense is better.
That is the Kyler I didn't like (as an opposing team before). There offense would control the ball for forever.

-- Which is exactly what I was talking about with "making the balls better", making them in better condition for the longer field goals we now see.

Thanks for reinforcing my point David.
